A great comic shop for back issue collectors. You can definitely fill in the gaps in your silver…read moreand bronze age collections by rummaging through the bins here for an hour or two. The thing that really sold me on this store was the pricing. Many smaller comic shops jack up the prices of their minor keys or poor condition major keys to absurd amounts. But almost everything I came across here was priced exactly as it should be - in some cases even a little lower. Really happy with the books I walked away with and would definitely go back here again.

This is an excellent hobby store. It is primarily focused on model trains, though there is a decent…read moreselection of model plane and car kits too. The owner has extensive knowledge of the hobby and is doing it because he loves it, not to make money. As an example, several items I noticed were priced lower than Ebay or online and when I asked him about that he agreed. However, he was still able to make his margins and wanted to better help local modelers. His section of new and used HO trains is pretty diverse. There are lots of great deals on vintage kits and older stock, but he has modern cars too with all the great details (and higher prices). His O gauge tinplate selection seemed a bit more limited but I don't really focus on that. He had a great selection of books and magazines, and a cute display layout. Behind the counter is his collection of his personal models in display cases. He has (along with his custom painter) assembled what is probably the best collection of locomotives and cars that are unique to the upstate New York area. If local shortlines use (or used) these engines, he has one. It was like looking at a museum. And, if the price is right, he will sell them. My prices weren't right though! It is quite a drive from Albany (about an hour each way) so if I need something I first call ahead to see if he has it. However, if you need advice or want to see what the new trends are in the hobby stop by. And, make sure to check him out at the local trains shows too.

This place is AWESOME…read more I am not going to be really specific about why. Just trust me on this. If you are a cigar lover you will find something you like. Plop your self on one of their couches in the back area and enjoy your smoke. The prices might be a bit high but if it is a good cigar that does not matter to me. This has become one of my favorite hangs in the area. The staff and everyone I have met their has been super friendly. It really is a "great" cigar shop. I don't smoke a cigar too often but if you drop by you will probably see me blah, blah, blahing away here. Just ask my Yelp buddy Steve N. He has listened to me blah blah here plenty of times. It is from that rush of nicotine that comes from smoking a cigar to completion :)

Cabinet lighting, expand the lounge, get better air handlers, have a "humidor room" instead of just cabinets. I will be back to this review... The inventory is not what I would call extensive, but they have a more-than-adequate selection in a wide variety of categories. There should be something for everyone here. They also carry a nice selection of children's products and a small, but fun, selection of puzzles and games. Parking is not an issue here, there is plenty of street parking right in front of the store and nearby.

As one of my nephews said "it's my vacation from my vacation". Everything is reasonably priced. As much as I avoided leaving a review all these years, wanting to keep my secret fishing hole secret, I'm leaving one now because I honestly don't know if they'll still be there July 2021. One of the owners has been sick, they're not getting any younger and I'm sure the COVID 19 epidemic didn't help. I was there a few weeks ago, unpriced albums seemed to be $1, priced albums were half the marked price. Unpriced 45's seemed to be.50, priced 45's were half the marked price. I've never looked at their Classical albums, they have a lot so a fan might do well. I've skimmed through the Soundtracks and Original Casts, have occasionally bought something but never looked deeply. If you've got a jukebox and are looking for records you'll do well here. They also have 78's and CD's. Two July's ago I picked up a Hank Williams 78 and a Sonny Boy Williamson 78. Full disclosure, you're not coming out of their with any rare Rock or Jazz. I've seen that stuff dwindle down. Three July's ago I found a mono Jefferson Airplane "After Bathing At Baxter's" and a Leigh Stephens "Red Weather", this year the best albums I found were a promo Brinsley Schwarz "Silver Pistol" and the Fraternity of Man album. There's lots of books too, I've bought quite a few music biographies here. My understanding is they are only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11-2:30. The phone number is listed here, I'd call first or text. I texted and received a fast response. One last thing, I just added this business to Yelp! thinking that they could use the support and I'm sure the sales. It's my thank you for the six or so years of giving me someplace to go on my "vacation from my vacation". If Bob's Books & Music isn't there next July it will be a very sad day in my life.

I am both a book/record dealer and collector for 30 years. This is my fair assessment of this…read morestore: The owner is nice but everything here is way overpriced! For example, the record albums are all in fair to poor condition but priced as if they are near mint. Currently, they have a Led Zeppelin album (Coda) that is in a poor, disgraceful condition. It has mold/mildew stains and odor, split seams and when you open the gatefold there is a large tear in the paper. The record is equally bad. They want $25 for it. It's a record you would find in a $2 bin anywhere else. I purchased this same album from another record shop in the area. I paid $20 for it in near mint/like new condition. I noticed the same theme with all their records. I saw Rolling Stones albums from the late 60's that were in deplorable condition...all were marked $20 and higher. I could find very few records in decent shape that were worth playing. The books were priced somewhat better but still on the higher end for the conditions they carry. Bottom line: If you want to spend a rainy day just browsing here it may suffice? However, when it comes down to purchasing items from this store you would be well off to compare prices online and with other venues.
