The room was so cute that with a nice seating area and a beautiful view from my room- perfect for the 2 nights I was there, and there is breakfast offered with a buffet as well as hot, freshly made to order breakfast off eggs, hash browns, sausage, etc. I chatted with the staff quite a lot as they were so friendly and very helpful with my random inquiries. The room itself was very comfortable and the bed was fantastic. The decor is simple and modern and everything was spotlessly clean. The bathroom was well thought out, with nice toiletries and a really deep bath, which made for an excellent relaxing soak after I went for a run. There are also a few other nice touches like herbal tea bags, and bottles of water in the little fridge. The owner/manager was really superb, he told me the best route for my run, and sorted out my meals (vegan and wheat free), with no fuss or hassle at all. For dinner, I had roasted veg in a tomato sauce, and for breakfast I had a fruit platter and some porridge. The breakfast isn't buffet style, so everything is prepared fresh, and the fruit was the best I have had in a hotel for a long time, in fact probably ever. Deliciously fresh melon, apple, pear, grape and pineapple. I would definitely stay here again.

Dogs are allowed everywhere in the hotel including the restaurant! Everyone is dog mad and our dog was told she was beautiful many, many times. Sitting at the bar enjoying a drink, dog gets a bowl of water, this isn't the welcome you normally get. It would've been nice, though, if we were directed to the nearest places out dog could toilet when we checked in. (Overnight) if you are a light sleeper, do not take one of the rooms facing the seafront in summer. The road is used constantly and with the windows open it makes it difficult to sleep, but the view is worth it for those of us who are willing to make the sacrifice. As an older hotel, the walls are thin and you can hear people stomping in the corridor. The tea/coffee set to is good, includes bottled water. The bathroom small but functional although it did take me awhile to figure out his to turn the shower on. I would still come back here again.

On approaching the hotel it does look rather impressive, it boasts a commanding position overlooking high on the East Cliff. There is a car park to the rear of the hotel. On arriving at the hotel we were greeted by very friendly uniformed staff, the porter very graciously carried our luggage to the room. We had been given an upgrade to a superior room for no extra charge, simply because the hotel was fairly quiet (it was January, not long after Christmas). The room was large and pleasant, with quaint antique looking white furniture and a hospitality tray. The bathroom was small but pleasant, with bathrobes and toiletries provided. There was also a TV and a selection of DVDs to choose from. We did not make use of the hotel facilities, it has a leisure centre including a small pool and a sauna, as we wanted to explore the lovely town of Rye as the hotel is literally a stone's throw from the town centre. Breakfast in bed the next morning was fabulous, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff were always courteous and helpful, and I highly recommend this hotel!

The beer selection is great, the gin and tonics are wonderful and the food was delicious. My review focuses on the vegan options which since I have been there have gotten even better!! They have many vegetarian and vegan food options. I had a chunky vegan soup and a spicy salad. Everything was wonderful. If im ever back in Tenterden I will most definitely come back here!!

A stone's throw away from the beach and Bexhill's famous De La Warr Pavilion, The Northern sits comfortably in the centre of a quiet seaside town in the heart of 1066 Country. Run by the lovely Simms family and their friendly staff, who'll always go the extra mile to make their guests feel as happy and comfortable as humanly possible, and are always available for a chat. There are suites, double, twin and single rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms and some with lovely sea views. The hotel has two restaurants, the bright and airy Garden Room outlooking the well kept garden, and The Richmond Room, a larger more traditional looking hotel restaurant, to the front of the building. The food and service is exceptional; three course meals with homemade traditional food, and tantalising desserts finished with filtered coffee and mints, served by their excellent silver service waiting staff. The prices are very reasonable, some could say even a little too cheap for the service and quality that comes with it. As well as all this, there's the Wellington Room Bar complete with an outdoor balcony and upstairs you'll find a library and lounge, all of which are regularly used for functions. A wonderful place to dine, drink and sleep in luxurious style.

Luckily for us, there wasn't a ceramic angel to be seen at The George. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that The George is as well-appointed and modern as any hotel my partner and I have ever stayed at anywhere in the world. Our room was spacious (almost ludicrously so, given the compactness of the town) and smartly decorated. The bathroom sports a beaten tin bathtub large enough to wash up a horse, and the shower is a walk-in with a powerful flow rate. The room has facilities for tea and a cafetiere, and the friendly staff will top up either if you're a prodigious drinker. My only quibble with The George is that the food in the restaurant isn't up to the standard of the hotel itself -- but Rye is so tiny that there's no reason why you can't stay at the George and walk down to the excellent Ship Inn or the local chippie for dinner.

Basic but plentiful cooked brekkie and overall great value for money at 70-odd for four in family room. Review reflects expectations for this was selected for convenience but helpful & great staff helped and we knew it was a limited venue so don't expect the Ritz Room Tip: We were placed away from car park which helped when Americana style custom cars rally rolled up late.
