Disregard all the old reviews, the place has been renovated, and I can warmly recommend it. Due to Covid, you'll have to call the hotel when you want to check in, which was done swiftly within 10 minutes. You are given the key to your room and a chip that opens the front door, so you have 24/7 access. Easy-peasy. They'll ask you if you want room service every day or every other day, I chose the latter. The single room I was given was on the top floor (70 steps, no lift), but had a beautiful view of the sea and pier. The room itself had obviously been refurbished recently: it was modern, functional and clean. Same goes for the bathroom. A-okay for the price I paid. Everything worked, incl. the shower and the flat screen TV. The hotel is just a 3 mins walk from the city centre, you'll find shops, pubs and restaurants just around the corner, literally - and a walk to Hastings station is less than 10 minutes. No problems whatsoever in those five days. Great location, clean furnishings, competitive price: What's not to like? Would go there again in a heartbeat!

After an extensive search, we finally decided that we'd go to the top rated hotel on TA so Zanzibar International Hotel it was. It really isn't cheap. Most of Hastings is overpriced though because it's a seaside town. Zanzibar was particularly expensive but the reviews and the pictures we were seeing made us think it would be worth it. I'm sorry to say I don't think it was worth the money. Don't get me wrong though, it is a lovely "hotel". Definitely boutique and just hotel-y enough to justify the description rather than a B&B. The international in the name is there as they've named the rooms after different parts of the world; we stayed in the cheapest room which was called Japan. It was a lot smaller than we expected. The toilet cubicle was so small I had to sit on it sideways to fit! The bed was nice and big but it did take up most of the room. We had ordered an in room massage each and when the masseuse arrived she could only just fit the table in the room! I highly recommend the in room massage by the way. The breakfast is wonderful and is taken either in the restaurant, Pier 9, on the terrace or in your room. We had breakfast in the restaurant with a table overlooking the sea. Fresh kippers with toast for me, cereal and eggs for the missus. Great fresh juice and coffee. The staff are all really friendly and even gave us a "welcome drink" when we arrived. Where the "secure underground parking" is I haven't got a clue but there is plenty of parking at Warrior Square and in the surround roads. I dos really like this hotel, I just could not justify staying here again for the price they are charging. If you can, crack on and enjoy!!

There was ash all over it, with butts on the ledge. Then we noticed the sofa the top of it had been used as an ash tray, the seats were ripped, with holes and dodgy looking stains on it and again sprinkled with ash. There was a blood stain on the wall too! We went to reception to complain to the apparent manager, as there was no phone in the room, who informed us they were fully booked so we could not be moved and there were no cleaners either as it was late. We tried to find alternative accommodation but to no avail. We then noticed on the bathroom doorframe there was like blue tac stuck to it, with body hair pressed into it, there was also body hair in the bath too, plus hair in the bed. We were disgusted and hardly slept a wink all night. The tv didn't work, the remote was under the bed, the mirrors were filthy and the main one cracked! I took photos of everything. We had paid for breakfast in advance and were dreading this, but to give them credit it wasn't too bad and the staff member was friendly. On check out I said I wanted to complain and was told to contact customer services on the website which I did. After about 12 days I was given a full refund with the admisson they'd failed to maintain their high standards! I won't be staying in another Travelodge again that's for sure! It was really tasty and fairly priced for the quality of the food. The service was top notch too. It's located on the Seafront and very close to the town centre.

Cosy hotel, with simple yet well-furnished and comfortable rooms…read more We didn't have a sea view room, but that didn't really matter to be honest. One of the largest TV screens I've seen in a hotel, too, which was quite impressive. We didn't wake up early enough to enjoy breakfast at the nearby restaurant, though, but it looked quite nice. The only down point concerns the elevator, which has crushed buttons, although it seems to work safely still ;)
