Review of Belcourt Suite. At first entry, the suite is brilliant. Walk into entryway with large…read morebedroom on one side and large living room on the other. Roomy dining table in living room. Switches for room darkening shades that worked quite well. Spacious bathroom with ok sized shower. Not quite enough counter space. Only liquid soup, no bar soap and no place to put bar soap in the shower if you had it. To some this may be irrelevant, but I found being forced to use liquid soup tedious, especially since the hotel does not supply wash cloths, but only larger hand and bath towels. Water pressure in shower was pathetic; there's a huge rain shower head, perhaps 12", but the water barely more than drools on you. Separate hot and cold sink faucets; I know that's still common throughout Europe, but is inconvenient and unnecessary these days. No electric plugs in living room other than at a small table by the bathroom. Was nicely provided a long extension cord that made the dining table usable as a workspace. Where there are plugs, they've provided a few convenient USB ports as well. Had a nice dinner in their Coast restaurant. Also found the champagne bar pleasant, and very quiet on both our visits. Room service breakfasts were also prompt and tasty. It was slightly humorous that something was missing from each service; once salt and pepper, once napkins, once jam. Poor service person had to make three trips one morning as apparently they were missing serving trays. On arrival, receptionist showed no interest that we were having difficulty with the number of bags we had. Finally another hotel employee entered the reception area and immediately made sure we had luggage service.

Lovely hotel in Hythe !!!! A refurbishment is ongoing and…read moreall the bedrooms at the first floor as well as the restaurant, the bar, the reception and the kitchen and a part of the ground floor are completed. I had a refurbished bedroom which was large, with a cupboard, a queen size bed, a sofa, a desk and a shower. The room contains also an iron and an iron table ;-) ! Sockets to plug an devices are French and UK sockets. 2 usb sockets are also available. Air condition is also in the from. The personnel is lovely, very kind and helpful. Breakfast is good. The restaurant had a limited menu as the kitchen had its refurbisheme to just finishing. However the dishes were slow to come although the restaurant was not crowed. A gym and a swimming pool are also present. Restaurants and supermarkets are at 10-20 minutes walking distance. The hotel plans to have a champagne bar in September!!!! Nice experience and I will come back !

Ok, I had the pleasure of staying here a couple of nights. The first night (a Saturday and a lot…read moremore expensive) was paid for by the company and I paid for the second night. This place isn't cheap (averaging a £100 a night). The location, on Canterbury's high street, was excellent. My room was quite pleasant. The view (of a corrugated roof) wasn't exactly inspiring. Tea-making facilities are available in the room along with a few top-grade cookies and organic tea. The bed was comfortable but the height of it and the placement of the television (at a little over bed-height) when combined with my double chin made TV viewing a little uncomfortable. Poor planning. Breakfast was very nice. However, not without some problems. On the first day we went down at 10am expecting that half an hour would be plenty of time. Due to the slow service by the time our breakfast had arrived they had started clearing away the buffet items. My full English breakfast wasn't as full as it could have been. I only had one fried egg and there was no black pudding (kaszanka). Not that I am particularly fond of black pudding, but I would like to get some. I suspect I had been given someone else's break. Oh, the toast was burnt too. When I am staying in a classy hotel I expect them not to burn my toast. Breakfast on the second day was more agreeable, I arrived early to ensure I was able to take advantage of the buffet. The hotel's cocktail bar was very nice. The first night I had an egg nog and for a nightcap a banana rumba drink. Not cheap at ten pounds a shot. But, hey, I wasn't paying Checking out was a pain. The girl had trouble understanding that I wanted separate bills for each night's stay. I gave up in the end.

While visting Canterbury I stayed here and i have to say this hotel is in a great location…read more Literally right in the center on High street by all the shopping, restaurants, bars and canterbury cathedral. Plus, Patisserie Valeri across the street has some of the best pastries i've ever had. -The rooms were nice, a good size and modern. The beds were comfortable but a wee-bit narrow but nothing extreme. -The staff was O.K nothing to write home about but they are not very knowledgeable of the area but were fine overall -The restaurant looks like a complete waste of money but then again I didn't find the desire to eat there with so many options just down the street. All in all will stay there again when in canterbury

Having watched the Great British Menu, we decided to try out the restaurant run by Charlie Lakin…read more It has a beautiful dining room, not too crowded but with a very good atmosphere. We had the rabbit (with douglas fir) and the pigs trotters to start. We loved the pigs trotters, they came with fried quails eggs and were delicious. The rabbit was very interesting and came both as a pate and smoked. We both had the beef, which was superb. It fell apart and was tasty and tender. The vegetables were cooked to perfection, with a gorgeous wild garlic mash and some of the best mushrooms I have ever tasted. The cheese board looked amazing, and they were kind enough to let us sample a piece of Lancashire Bomb cheddar, which was superb! It was a very busy (Thursday) night and the staff were obviously kept pretty occupied, but they still managed to be attentive (they noticed that our table wobbled and fixed it immediately) and very knowledgable. Would definitely go back!

I would dine here weekly if I lived anywhere near Alkham. The decor is comfortable and inviting…read more The moment you walk in you have the feeling that you will have a wonderful experience. The service was the perfect mix of semi-formal, friendly and attentive. The food was exactly what you want in fine dining. It was plated beautifully, had interesting flavor/texture combinations and tasted delicious. I recommend the lobster and crab salad, the rabbit and the lovely cheese cart. Attire: Business Casual to Dressy. I wore dress pants, a nice top and heels.

Fine place to stay but nothing amazing. I am assuming that the majority of people who stay here…read moreare being coming or going on a cruise, as I was. Check in can take forever and likely rooms will not be available early so don't plan on arriving early and having a room ready. Suitcases were basically taking up the entire small lobby. The elevator is tiny so be aware. If you want to eat at the restaurant make sure to make a reservation ahead of time because otherwise it will either be full OR they will tell you no that you can't eat here without one. The rooms are clean which is most important to me. Wonderful views of the beach and white cliffs from our room balcony. The cruise terminal is walk-able if you don't have mobility issues but it isn't super close so make sure to order a taxi well in advance.

The bar fish n chips was better than I had in Scotland or in Northern England. I highly recommend. Don't get the burger it was meh. The buffet breakfast that came with our room was delicious. Classic English breakfast with scrambled eggs, thick pork sausage, ham, hash brown, beans, mushrooms and fried tomatoes. Good coffee and plenty of pastries. Everyone that worked in hotel, restaurant and bar treated us very well. Good customer service.
