I would say it's a decent hotel for the money you are paying. For the value of whole £33 pounds I got a clean room and a breakfast included. Basic, no frills hotel, but with Britannia you know exactly what you are getting. My room didn't have a window, only skylight, but otherwise the room was pretty cosy and more than enough if you are not spending too much time in the hotel. Cons: my room didn't have wi-fi and check-in process was very slow, with only one person working behind the desk. read more

I was staying in Folkestone on my own for just the one night and wanted something cheap..... ended up at the Grand Burstin Hotel for the grand sum of £25. Okay.... I didn't expect much and was not disappointed. The hotel staff at check-in were cheerful and helpful. The hotel is tired to the extreme. My room was very basic, however, the bed sheets were clean and managed a decent nights sleep. Definitely bring sandals or slippers as you would not want to walk on the carpet with bare feet. The hotel is large and there seemed to be lots of coach parties staying there. Location of hotel is excellent overlooking the harbour and within walking distance to shops. If some serious money was spent on updating hotel (and I mean SERIOUS DOSH) it could be excellent. Considering the money I spent I really cannot complain and would not hesitate staying again on my own. However, I would not bring my partner here.... If I did, she would probably kill me. read more

A lot of money for actual sh*t. We stayed here for 1 night. We had 3 rooms booked cause we expected to arrive with 5 persons. We arrived with 3 persons and 1 of those was an teenager. We couldn't cancel one room because of "reasons" told by the staff. We were very tired so we did not make a big deal out of it. When we arrived at our rooms they were all with weird bed configurations. 1 room with an double bed. 1 room with 1 double bed and 2 single beds and 1 room with 2 single beds. We could have stayed with 8 persons! When i arrived at my room (the one with the 2 single beds) i dropped my suitcase at the couch and walked to the bathroom where there was actual POOP on the floor combined with PISS!!! I got sick from seeing this! I walked to my bed to find out the mattress was broken. When i sat at the other bed fortunately it wasn't broken. The carpet was all stained and the desk was dirty with the drawers hanging out. The floor had not been vacuumed. The tv did not work at first. But after some slaps on top of the tv it began to work. The bed itself was clean. But a small tip to make it more comfortable is bigger pillows. They were very flat and hard. The shower had no curtains and the railing for the shower was almost all rusted away. I got downstairs to tell the staff at the lobby that my room was dirty. They said that they would clean up when we would be out for dinner. When i got back to my room they had cleaned it up. Thank god! It was just really gross! After all i did not shower because if i would slip i would have had an rusty railing in my body. The hotel has wifi. But only in the Lobby. And it isn't good wifi. In the morning we were expecting an good meal cause we booked the rooms with breakfast. We came at the front door of the restaurant where the lady blocked us out of the dining area! She said we didn't have any coupons for breakfast without even looking. She send us away with an really cocky attitude. I was outraged by the way she treated us! After all we went to McDonalds to get out breakfast. Would we stay here again? Hell no! For that price and the service that we received next time i would have definitely looked at an other hotel. read more

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Do not stay there, even if the cheap price tempts you, you will regret it and it could ruin your holiday - it will certainly ruin your mood. We arrived and there was no ample free parking as advertised. The underground car park is very dingy and has suspicious looking people wandering around staring in cars, we were very scared to leave our car there and later moved it to another location. You are not allowed to take the room key out of the hotel, you have to hand it in: very draconian and untrusting of its guests. Even to go and unload our car and come straight back, we were not allowed to take the keys with us. Very inconvenient and when we got back in 1 minute later we had to queue for 5 minutes to get our key back. The 2 restaurants close very early, we had had a long journey and had to rush our food as the restaurant closes at 7:30pm. Food was acceptable but nothing special, just microwaved pies and overcooked soggy vegetables. The bedsheet had a stain on it, and worst of all, the toilet roll had a big brown mark all across it. We didn't know whether to laugh or cry! The bath and plug were full of hairs, obviously the bathroom had not been cleaned at all. Also there was no bin in the bathroom, completely unacceptable and embarrassing if it is that time of the month and you have to leave all hygiene articles in the bedroom bin which had no lid. The room was very stuffy, window wouldn't open at all for safety reasons and the staff refused to lend us a fan as they said you have to be ill to be allowed to have one. The breakfast resembled an army camp, not a hotel. All the food was in metal vats that were so enormous you could fit a child in them. The bacon was partially uncooked and we had to ask for more. The hotel had a generally tired look and garish 1970s mustard green and bright orange wallpaper, and long ceiling-length curtains that hadn't been cleaned or dusted for a long time. It is terrible to imagine that for many foreign visitors starting their holidays, this will be the first place they stay and will give them a dreadful impression of British hospitality. Good points: staff were generally polite and helpful and the hotel is in a very convenient location 5 minutes from the Channel Tunnel terminal. read more

After planning a stay at Keston Court and finding it so bad I rang a Travel Agent friend who suggested Hotel Burstin. He said all though he hadn't sent guest to the Burstin for sometime he had had customers reguarly going there for years and so was a safe bet. The room was clean, the furniture was nothing special and I can say the bedding was clean, matching, looked as if just been made, pillows weren't flat and on looking were clean no stains, Food was fine and very reasonable.
