I really had high hopes for this small restaurant. It's beautiful inside and the staff is friendly. You pick your own table and order in the front. The menu features different chicken salads, pimento cheeses, and paninis. Your side choices are chips, broccoli salad, and apple dip. They also have ice cream and sno-balls. It all sounds so good but unfortunately it's just not. I can't speak for the ice cream or sno-balls because I didn't try them. I was meeting a cousin of mine for lunch with my mother. We came in, picked a table, and made our way to the front to order. We all got The granny goat (chicken, cheddar cheese, apples, grapes, and pineapple) on a croissant and a scoop of The Poppy Goat (chicken, cranberries, pecans, apples, and their house poppy seed dressing. I Hate giving reviews like this but I believe in being honest. I could not eat more than a bite of the Granny Goat croissant. First, the croissant was stone cold. The chicken salad was dry and just didn't taste good. All I could taste was chicken and cheddar. I couldn't taste the fruit at all. I did try to fix it by adding sweetener, mayonnaise, salt and pepper but I just could not force myself to eat it. I moved on to the Poppy Goat. It was slightly better. It was still dry and it was missing something but at least I tasted cranberries, apples, and pecans in this one. Again, I added mayonnaise and sweetener. This time I was at least able to swallow a bit less than a third of the scoop with crackers and a very spicy sweet heat pickle. I was honestly disgusted to be unable to eat my meal. I tried their broccoli salad. For $1.99 you get about three princess bites in a condiment cup. I might have over looked it but it wasn't even good. The usual sweet vinegar sugar zing in your typical broccoli salad was missing. No raisins. Broccoli, bacon, and a minuscule amount of mayonnaise was all I could taste. I couldn't even eat all of it. My cousin let me try a bit of her apple dip. That was not amazing but it was the best thing I had other than a macadamia nut cookie. It was pretty much thick cream cheese with a small amount of cinnamon and sugar with apple slices sticking up in it. The truly sad part of my experience is employees passed my table, multiple times, and never noticed that no one touched their food beyond a few bites. No one ever once came up to us and asked how anything was. All three of us dumped full plates into the trash. I really should have asked for a refund but I was just over it and ready to leave. Three miles off 65, but worth the drive to get a true Alabama cafe experience and excellent house-made food. The staff was authentically friendly and the owner was gracious and informative. The chicken salad was top-notch -- we bought some to go and enjoyed it for days afterward. So glad we stopped. Got to love the hat as well. read more

We stopped by to see what the frozen goat was. The menu was a little confusing- different. We ordered wraps, I got a poppy seed chicken. It was really good at first, but the more I ate the poppy seed dressing became overwhelming and I started to get nausea. The owner came over and spoke to us, very nice guy! Just not your typical restaurant. I'm allergic to pineapple and most of the salads had pineapple in them. Perhaps more menu items for those who can't do bbq sauce or pineapple. read more

Great local owned chicken salad, ice cream, and sno-ball place! A must stop if you are near by and definitely worth a few extra mins of your travel time. We got to talk with Nate the owner and he was amazing and so nice. We had the pimento jalapeño chicken salad and a dipped ice cream cone and it was so good! read more
