Went here on a Thursday night with some friends and decided to give this place another try. I ordered the Calturkey sandwich and fries but when my order was brought out they had given me a Southwest turkey sandwich. The server originally didn't write down any of the orders so I'm sure it was a mix up but after the last incident I was disappointed that I haven't had any of my food orders here go smoothly. Overall the service was VERY slow. We had to ask to order, walk up to the bar to ask for our bill, ask for our to go boxes. Maybe this place is better to come for drinks and hang out but as far as having a timely meal, it is very disappointing. The atmosphere and staff are very friendly but just haven't been impressed with the service. read more

Terrible service! Walked in sat down and waited 15 minutes and finally walked out when no one came to our table but the entire staff was at the bar laughing and having a great time. read more

This place has turned the corner from the last set of employees. The servers and bartenders are friendly and creative. Usually playing good music and the quality is good for bar food. read more

Came for a late lunch. Bartender ignored us. Had to ask for menus, silverware, he acted like we were not even there. Worst service ever. French dip overcooked. He was put out when I asked for sour cream to make our horseradish creamy. We will not be back and will make sure we tell our patrons at our business. Oh and flies everywhere. read more

Haven't ordered yet never been here first time. Sat in back area with an awful smell maybe the old cigarette burned red bench seat. Had to prop door open to help with the smell. However it's all about the food still waiting for my meal nachos the easiest thing thumbs crossed first impressions nice decor love the pub feel but smells terrible like an Irish piss fight broke out..nachos came and damn it's like step brothers microwaved nachos with a piss poor guacamole that's black couldn't the chef just scrap off top layer and serve I should say cook you can't really call yourself a chef serving shit like that in my Gordon Ramsay voice read more

Horrible. Absolutely bad in every way. This place was gorgeous when it was Dewz. It was nice when Firkin first opened. We went several times. Hadn't been in about a year, tried it last night. It was dirty and stuffy. The food was horrible. 3 people in our party of 6 ended up sick. Fish was way over fried. Calamari tasted like popcorn chicken. Chipotle mayo was warm and had a filmy look. I will not be back. Yuck! read more

Terrible meal all around. The fish n chips should have never left the kitchen. I should have sent it back immediately as the dark brown color told the story. Not only was my dish lousy but the bangers n mash and a chicken salad were grossly overcooked. Had to move to a different table upon seating as the corner was full of flies. The waitress allowed us to move and stated that they have a problem with "fruit flies" in the restaurant. Gross. Will not return to this restaurant. read more

Worst burger I have had in a long time. Took them 30 minutes to bring out our beer and 45 to bring out our food and the weren't even busy. I will never go back here. read more

This is one of my favorite places to eat. Just plain old good food and good drinks. I have unfortunately only been there twice, but let me tell you, both experiences were wonderful. Great, attentive service. The food was delicious. For the appetizer we (me and my bf, Kym) got the Irish nachos, which were seasoned waffle fries covered in cheese, bacon, green onions and sour cream. Delicious. We shared the western bacon burger, and that had the bacon, onion strings, and bourbon caramelized onions. It was really good, but be careful this burger is very heavy. You won't be able to eat half of it. But trust me you will try! The drinks are also really good. Lots of the good stuff. read more

No. 1 hour, still waiting, feeling ignored on the patio. Forget about this place if you have concert tickets and need to make it on time. So fruatrating, and on a Tuesday night. Should not be this hard. read more

The Fox Pub - My empty table. - Pubs Near Me - Modesto, California

Had a group party upstairs with 15 people. The waitress was alright. They had a decent beer selection, but the food sucked. A couple of us ordered appetizers and they brought it to us at the same time as the rest of our party so our food was cold. We had one waitress for the most part, but to serve the food there was another guy helping. He was extremely rude. Asked one person if they wanted vinegar with their fish & chips. While waiting for him to answer he said "yes or no" very rudely. We couldn't believe that he said that. I will never go to this place ever again. Nothing pisses me off more than rude servers, not to mention my food was cold so I couldn't even eat it. Also the area where the bathrooms are located smell like urine & they are right by the kitchen. Keep it classy Modesto! read more

Great service every time! Today we did their beer sampling night. They did an AMAZING job at pairing the appetizers with the beer. We will definitely be back next time to see what brewery will be here and to see what amazing treats are paired with the beer. read more

The food was excellent to my standards. Although the ambiance was great the service was poor. The girl who attended to us was rude and inattentive. I enjoyed the welcoming from the bartender! The waitress was careless sitting across from us gossiping with her friend while customers waited on her service! read more

As a blow-in I visited the Firkin and Fox on a Friday night. Having lived in the UK for a year and in Ireland for five, I am familiar with the pub scene. This place is no Spotted Pig, the burgers are not as great as Mario Batali's creations or even Corner Bistro, but the fact that I am mentioning these places in this review indicates the standard for the American Brit-Gastro Pub... I have never been to P Wexfords but I have dined in County Wexford a few times so I feel I can make an honest assessment as an out-of-towner. When I arrived, I found the place somewhat empty on a rainy Friday evening. I asked for cider... and they had no Magner's (Bulmer'sfor the natives), I don't as a matter of my manhood and my experience of real Devon cider drink other fruit ciders so perhaps you could try the blackcurrant cider. I was not dissuaded however, ordered another non-local beer not even thinking to ask for a Carlsberg. I sipped on my beer and heard great music which I assumed was just a soundtrack... until I heard the clapping... I went upstairs and to my amazement saw a group of high school students holding a jam session... the music was amazing and I was surprised there was no one else listening... the other occupants of the establishment were playing some beer cup game downstairs, there were some cougar types having a sex and the city night and some high school age couples, meanwhile the most excellent jam session was going on upstairs. The food here was good by pub food standards. The burger I had was done to my request, the chips were served in paper (nice touch) and I was handed two fresh bottles of ketchup and mustard with my plate. My only complaint would have been that I was not offered salt and vinegar with my chips... but who can complain when you have great service and good music... the bill- 25 dollars for three beers and a great burger... I think they may have given me a buyback but I did quite enjoy this place and would recommend it. It is a short walk from the Doubletree and down the street from the Fat Cat if you want some pre-club drinks and food. read more

I came in here during X-Fest and the place was a madhouse, but despite the overflowing crowds out the door, the bartenders were still able to get everyone in and out in a timely manner. I was very impressed with the beer selection here, most bars have 1-2 craft beer choices at most, but this place had what appeared to be at least 10 taps with delicious craft brew flowing. The prices here are excellent, festival specials were $5 for any draft beer, but I noticed that even their regular prices were acceptable; I was able to find $10 per pint beers here for less than $7, that makes me very happy :) read more

The guy that picks up the dishes and empty glasses... Rude. Attitude bad. Very disrespectful! Never have I seen an employee talk to paying customers the way he did, never have I seen an employee flip the finger on people... I was amazed that he can get away with it too! read more

Slowest service ever! Went in for lunch...big mistake unless you have a couple hours. First, we were sat in the little room off the bar, which would have been fine except it was so hot! When we said something we were told that the air wasnt working "just in that room...the rest of the restaurant is ok". So, why put us there? The upstairs was very cool and almost empty! Once we got moved up there, it took another 45 minutes to get our food. Never again read more

Real simple review for this place. It was my first visit. The host was cool and easy going. Great service. Great food. Great people. Relaxed environment. Food was quickly served. 5 star for sure. read more

Smells like urine with a capital P. The one star for being open on Sunday night. Will never go back again.

The upstairs-downstairs set up is really cool and its in a nice spot, but the food is really blase. Don't bother to come here to dine.

So I decided to try this place yesterday for lunch. I like the "Irish pub" feel of it. I had the crispy chicken wrap which is basically crispy grilled chicken, lettuce and tomato with either ranch or chipotle dressing which is a nice touch and homemade potato chips on the side which weren't too salty and doesn't give you that greasy texture to it which is good. The bartender was cool and did the best he could to tend to customers and very respectful. I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere I could be back and hopefully the service will be better. It wasn't bad but then I don't know how many servers there were because it seemed like that the bartender doubled as a server and bartender at the same time. An extra server would be nice which had me give this place three stars. With that said, I still would recommend this place if people want to have lunch or quick drink on a lunch break and whatnot. read more

Yes, service is terrible! Had to get my menu at the bar. Waited 25 min for someone to take my order. Had my beer and left!

I like this place. Food's good, neat environment. Good service.

First time at the restaurant, let me just say, never go back again! Waitress took too long to take our order, my beer mug had lipstick stains on it and to top it off, it had a dead fly in it. The food was awful! Never had cold calamari in my life. ...the whole experience was just DISGUSTING and AWFUL! NEVER AGAIN! read more

I love this place so much! I come here all the time and have never had a bad experience up until last weekend when I was served by a girl who was possibly the worst server in the world. Her name is Keanan and from the moment we sat down this girl gave us the most attitude. Not only was she a bitch to us but to literally every other table she was serving. At one point we were all so fed up with her attitude that all the tables she was serving started talking to each other about how horrible she was and she was being so rude. She was treating every single one of her tables like shit so we ended up leaving to go down stairs so we didn't have to be bothered by her bitch ass again. We even told a server, and the bartenders that she was such a bitch and they said they had gotten complaints about her already and they said she was new. If I were them I would fire this girl because the next time I go and she's there I'm gonna go somewhere else. I know a lot of people feel this same way about her and I can't expect her to get any better. Anyways besides the bitch Keanan, this place is great and a nice fun spot to hang with friends if you have a server that is not her! read more

Sorry firkin and fox I will not be visiting again. I know my license was expired, but only for three days! Wow! Everyone else would serve me. So I am afraid to say I will NEVER be able to experience the firkin and fox love, but at your own cost. read more

I was slightly disappointed in their lack of gluten free items. But when we called to ask about the possibilities, Josh was very nice. They would not let me bring my own gluten free food and my daughter and friends would still order their food, but they would allow me to bring my own food. It was disappointing but we were nice about it because he was we also had great service. Our waitress, Jessica, was very patient and helpful with questions. The service was amazing but the lack of gluten free was disappointing. read more

I love coming in here. But, my last experience here was VERY unsatisfactory. It was early in the afternoon, about 2-2:30 and I go in with a friend for some drinks and apps! But the bartender, Roni, I believe....was just....SO RUDE!! She didn't make our drinks the way we ordered. Slammed and slid our drinks down in front of us so aggressively I wanted to ask if she was mad at me? But wait, there's more. She's standing there talking crap about her coworkers to a few of her friends that were also at the bar. It was just an over 0/10 and we left after one drink because We couldn't stand her attitude and all around bad vibes. But over love it there. Get the crab cakes. read more

Have you ever been so excited to go to your birthday party and to only be let down because the service was so tacky & unprofessional that you couldn't even believe that you were having dinner an what was suppose to be an well known establishment. Well that was my experience!!! I don't know what has happened to this place because it didn't use to be that bad. Both the bartender and the server looked like they just woke up and it was 7:30 on a Wednesday night. I was with a party of 20 and ended up leaving to the Goat where we had a great time!! We are planning our Amazon Christmas party next month 0f 50 people and we will definitely not go anywhere near the Firkin!! read more

Poor/horrible Customer service!!!! People with attitude will not get our hard earned money

I've been here several times and it's hit and miss on the food. The service is just worthless. If you sit in the back room you get ignored. I don't know how this place stays open. read more

Used to come to this place all the time and it's going down the drain. The service sucked! we accidently spilled beer and we asked Julian the buss boy to get us some napkins and he had the decency to ask "first things first do you want this food or not?" I have never heard someone be so rude to a customer like that. Little man syndrome is what it was, sorry. And then the waitress was over charging us for stuff we didn't order. Horrible place will not be coming back. read more

Good beer selection and felt welcomed by the bartender. I was able to sample my beer before I tried it. Huge plus in my book

Honestly it was not a spot I would normally go. Especially since they took out the jukebox and the pool table. However Josh the bartender was really personable. Which I can appreciate and respect. Thanks josh. The rumchatta drink was great too! Peace and love brother:) read more

Cool vibe, decent food, full bar. Check it out if you are downtown Modesto. Great place to grab a pint.

I love Rachael's crispy, delicious martinis. I don't even know what she calls them, but to order, you just tell her what you like (sweet v.sour/ vodka v.whatever) and she will whip you up something fresh and thirst-quenching!! Love. read more

They didn't have enough staff to ensure prompt service. The server was awesome. The sweet potato fries weren't crispy enough for me. I wouldn't go back, but I'm really picky. Too many 4-star and above places. read more
