I usually like coming to Flame Broiler, but lately the portion sizes haven't been the same. My bowl had a huge amount of rice and barely any meat on top. It felt like I was mostly paying for rice, not protein. For the price, I expect a better balance between the rice and the chicken/beef. The flavor was still good, and the food was fresh, but the portions just didn't match the cost. If they evened out the servings and gave a little more meat, it would definitely be worth it. read more

Today, a friend ordered me some food to cheer me up! I went to a Memorial earlier, so I was in a little bit of a funk. When I arrived, the food was ready as it was ordered in advance. The lady at the front counter was nice. The inside of restaurant was clean. It's a smaller restaurant and I could see the lady busy keeping things clean. I had a half/half chicken and beef plate with white rice, veggies, and cabbage salad. Appeared to all be fresh and great tasting. The seedless orange was even really good! Best of all, I love their salad dressing, magic "teriyaki" sauce, and hot sauce. All the flavors were distinct, but came together very well. This place is super close to my house. It's a nice go to when I can't decide quickly what to eat. To wash down the food, I had 2 regular cups of sweet tea with light ice and then I refilled half Coke, half Mr. Pibb to go! I've officially ended the tireless internal debate I have been battling the last few years: The Flame Broiler INDEED reigns supreme over WaBa Grill. I'm on a healthy eating kick and have turned to The Flame Broiler for pure white chicken and vegetables made fresh and without any added sauces. Their proteins are made hot to order and their vegetables are kept warmed after being made fresh throughout the day. Portion sizes are decent and the bowls, plates, etc. are all priced right. This location is a bit tough to access as it sits on the end of a busy, packed shopping center. Their dining room is small but it's likely that most customers take their meals to go. I was bummed to see the condiment area was a bit messy and unclean despite them not being busy (but the quality of the food made up for it). I will definitely be back! read more

They do not wash their produce! I am super grossed out. I fed my 13 month old some of my steamed veggies and my plain meat. I went to eat the orange last and the sticker was on it. It clearly had never seen water, let alone produce wash. If they don't wash the oranges, they don't wash anything else. read more

This review is for the store on Mountain in Upland. I have been to several other Flame Broilers and the food has always been great. Not here. Ordered chicken bowls for my wife and myself. My wife couldn't finish hers. The veggies were undercooked to the point of being more appropriate for a salad and the chicken was some strange texture more like a ground up and reformed product than real chicken. Came here because it stays open later than the one in La Verne. Will not be returning. read more

So I came to flame broiler on Mountain Avenue in Upland to get a chicken ball. I got here at 10:25. I walked in she told me they're not open yet till 1030 so I came back outside waited 10 minutes went back in order the chicken bowl the way I usually get it and then I want to get some sauce out of their dispenser and their dispenser is broken so when she gave me my chicken bowl I ask her if she can give me five sauces and she charge me for them $.10 each so I'm like it's free right here but your dispenser broken so you're gonna charge me she goes yeah so that is bad business to me. I paid $15 for a chicken bowl. I will never come back shame on the Flame Broiler. Also, their point system is not working their magic rewards app is no good. So since my last update the place has changed. We have arrived around 8 ish and gotten served no problem. Tonight april 14th 2023. I arrived at 8:10 to get some food for my family. When i went in to the restaurant i was met with an abrupt "we are closed" by the male employee there. When I asked why they were closed when the sign says 9pm, he again said very abruptly "we are closed." Keep in mind he stayed in the kitchen and talked through the window there so I could not see his name tag. If the employees are going to close early they need to know that they are hurting the owners business and then people are more than welcome to visit Waba Grill or Yoshinoya. This is a very disappointing practice and it makes me not want to visit this location again and to tell my friends not to come to this place again read more

Ok so when I rate a place I don't solely rate them on food. The eating experience I believe in broken into multiple categories. 1. Cleanliness - noone likes eating in a dirty place. 2. Food Flavor and Quality - called the Mmm factor. 3. Employees - People make or break a company 4. Overall Experience - wow factor, the sum of all non food items. 5. Value - the sum of all focusing on price, portion and selection That being said. This place is a solid 5 or 6 and the reason is because of Christina. I don't know Christina's position but every time I come in she had a smile, is always willing to help and makes great conversation. Rude, after getting my order WRONG!!!!! I've been here several times on my lunch break and I order the exact same thing every time. My very first visit I thought the cashier was kind of rude and short with me but I shrugged it off as tha maybe just being her personality. Over the next half dozen visits it was much of the same (but not everyone has customer service skills). This last time, she took my order (which she never repeats back) gave me my total (which is the same every time ) and a few minutes later she says "lady your order is ready". Great. I go outside to eat my food just to discover that I have no veggies. I pack up my food go back inside and tell her she forgot my veggies. She says "you need to says veggies if you want them" I said, "I did". She rolled her eyes. I left. Now I got a bowl with a few sprinkles of chicken and full of rice (which is cold now). got their mini beef bowl although from the display the bowl looked small but i was actually full if you pair any bowl with their magical sauce on top of their hot sauce its adds the flavor also an option to get all white meat if you get their chicken and pay little bit extra on top of their regular price since their food is fresh i think its a little bit expensive than normal bowl place but definitely worth the extra bucks read more
