Okay, let's start with I've eaten here several times before writing this review. I usually am super vocal about skimpy servings and mid-expensive to expensive prices. This restaurant is an amazingly delicious addition to the local area. Every time we've ordered from here the food has consistently been delicious and well proportioned to the price point. My husband and I try to eat more seafood. This place makes that easy. If I had one ask and this is being nit picky it would be to get a different tartar sauce. It feels like a family business. I had no idea these guys were here. Dude told me they were in business for over three years. I've lessened my beef and chicken intake over the last year and am eating more fish. That means, this is my new spot. Clean-looking place run by seemingly sincere people. The Fish House is great! Next door to their Fish market they have a great menu of soul food items. The service was great. The woman who took our order was patient and friendly while ordering. I ordered the regular Whiting plate (2 pieces) with fried okra and green beans. My fiancé ordered the large whiting plate (3 pieces) with potato salad and baked beans. That FISH was fried perfectly and the sides were a good balance to the fish. The variety of hot sauces available to try on our fish was cool. I love hot sauce so that might make me bias. The owner was friendly and obviously proud of the small, neat, clean shop. Fresh seafood prices are well marked, and he had some frozen and packaged items, too. Apex so needed a retail fresh fish store and finally we have one. It is sorta tucked back behind an auto parts store in a business park so be patient if you are making your first trip. I want to emphasize this is a locally owned business, and we Apeckers enjoy supporting a local. As for the fish; it is shipped in every single morning from the coast. I have literally been standing in the store waiting for the truck. When available and in season, they will feature Flounder, Swordfish, Grouper, NC shrimp, Snapper, and Mahi. They also feature harder to find items, when available, including Gator, several varieties of hard and soft crab, and oysters. Give this place a try! read more

The collards were a tad under seasoned, but they made the perfect bite when paired with the cabbage and yams. Turkey BBQ was tangy and fresh. Reminds me of the turkey BBQ hubby makes at home. The only dishes that were disappointing were the Mac n cheese and potato salad. Both tasted artificial, and semi homemade. Like powdered cheese mixed with shredded cheese and oven baked. I am not one to write reviews, but this place is BEYOND deserving of one. I cannot begin to express how much I love this place! (I am talking weekly visits EVERY Friday!!!) The owners are AMAZING, the service is unmatched, and the selection of seafood is incredible! I am all about presentation and first impressions and this place definitely has both down pat. From the moment you enter the door, you are greeted with a smile and a welcome. The layout of the market is very well thought out and inviting. I absolutely love the decision to have the daily items listed on a chalkboard, right next to the cutest drawing of a crab that reads "Thanks for SNAPPING By." With my very limited knowledge of seafood (other than knowing what tastes good), this design allows me to see exactly what it is that is being offered as well as the price with no issues at all. And then, of course, the staff is more than willing to tackle any questions that I have about what they have to offer as well as offering suggestions to what might pair well with what I am trying to cook. Then as I glance down from the wall, there below me is a pleasant presentation of the freshest fish I have seen in while! Oh, and did I mention that this place does not carry with it the traditional "fish market smell!" I have often foregone my craving for seafood simply because I did not want to walk into a fish market and have my nose bombarded with the most unpleasant of scents. This is NOT a problem here. I am able to look at all the product and make a decision about my meal plan for the day without having to feel like I need to rush out of there as a courtesy to my nose! In the off chance that there is something that I need that I do not see displayed, the owner is more than willing to take the steps to make sure I have it within a couple of days (if not that same day!). I also have the option of calling and reserving certain items when I am caught up at work to ensure that I will be able to pick it up after getting off work. AGAIN, the SERVICE IS AMAZING!!! I am absolutely IN LOVE with their crab legs and cake cakes. My family simply cannot get enough. Just last weekend I had a crab boil and everyone was singing praises! Speaking of family, (I know that this is a minor detail, but it just goes to show that the devil really is in the details...) I LOVE the fact that they also have an accompanying chalkboard wall that kids (and in my case big kids) can write on. It allows the option of keeping my daughter occupied while I go through the process of picking out what I need. Then there is the futon that is conveniently placed next to a TV for my fiance to watch as I am shopping! Again, it is the little things that go A LONG way! As you can tell, I can probably go on for days with this review, but long story short: This place is AMAZING, the options are FRESH and readily available and I love that the product is all local!
