Seven of us dined on the deck Saturday evening. We were greeted and seated quickly and in a friendly manner. Ordered three appetizers which were all outstanding. The calamari was perfect. Entree's included burgers, fish sandwiches, beef on weck and salmon dinner. All were prepared perfectly. The chef made his rounds while we were there. I believe they are using two kitchens and the fancier dinners are upstairs, so i think it reflects positively that he was checking on the downstairs kitchen. Beautiful setting right on the water. Many new improvements to the physical building. A+. read more

Opening weekend, they are doing a great job. Salads are deicious and Cuban sandwich was decent enough.

Had breakfast with 12 people (of course we were the only ones there) grew up bemus local , ordered a Bloody Mary and glass came with vodka and a moth yes a moth in the ice cubes .. owner said it wasn't there when I poured it and I gave you a double .. like that means anything . Waitress rolled her eyes and said to the owner I forgot to flush the ice from the previous night . Then the waitress forgot to get 3 of our meals in , and then also proceeded to wait 20 mins plus to come back and tell us that two of the entrees were not in stock . On top of all this , and me getting charged 12 dollars for the worst Bloody Mary ever , they said they were out of coffee and there was coffee available at the market next door . learn how to treat your customers!! If I could give -5 stars I would . read more

Fun, lively atmosphere. Bobbing in the floating bar was an adventure. We had two fresh salads, a cheeseburger and the Cuban sandwich. Everything was delicious. The raspberry mojito was fantastic! I'll drive two hours to come back here again. Ha. read more

Just had dinner here tonight. Ordered scallops ($19) and my husband had the shrimp scampi ($23). Meals did not come with salads or bread. My scallops came in a huge bowl filled with diced tomatoes and onion with a scoop of rice and 5 small scallops. The white rice and scallops had soaked up the tomato and onion juices and was terrible. I flagged down the waitress and ordered the salmon in place of the scallops. In the meantime my husband had eaten his meal. The salmon, vegetables and potatoes were lukewarm and flavorless. I was so hungry by then that I had no choice but to eat them. Will never eat there again!! Do yourself a favor and head a head down to the Village Casino!! There food is much better read more

I write this review because I loved the former restaurant at this location - The Italian Fisherman - and had hoped this establishment would have maintained the Fisherman's excellence. Sadly, it has not. Here is my experience from two weeks ago. 1. Seating - Simple right? People come in, tables are available, you seat them. My wife and three children presented ourselves and asked for a table upstairs - ideally one outside as it was a beautiful day. Plenty of tables were available. The answer - "No, you would be better off downstairs." My wife talked with the hostess for about two minutes - we really wanted to be upstairs, the tables were not reserved, what was the problem? "Nope, you would be better downstairs." Fine. We'll go downstairs. 2. Downstairs - It leads to the dock which is nice because you see the lake and the boats. And that's about where it ends. Plastic patio furniture, covered with grease, the area where we were seated had something dripping from upstairs. Its closer to a college bar atmosphere than a nicer restaurant. I had my doubts at that point but thought maybe the food would win me over. 3. Ordering and Food - The waitress was nice enough. Took our orders and got our drinks. My wife's Bloody Mary ... when it was the Italian Fisherman it was something to behold ... here, just ok. My beer was ok as well. But the meal itself - a disaster. As others have noted - it took a century to come out - be prepared! The couple next to us basically had to beg their waitress for the check as the restaurant is so under-staffed. Ordered the calamari appetizer. Clearly pre-breaded, frozen, calamari, nothing special. Tasted fishy as well. Wife got crab cakes - clearly frozen, not home made. Kids got burgers - nothing special, they mostly focused on the fries as the burgers were dry. I got the roast beef sandwich which was a mess. The dipping sauce tasted odd and the sandwich itself was just pre-cut, deli roast beef they warmed up. A mess. At least the kids got ice cream for dessert which they liked. 4. The Bill - $100 for what would have amounted to a $65 bill at AppleBee's - and for food that would have been about 10 times better. Wow. 5. The Restaurant Across the Street - That place was extremely busy - overflowing with people. We will go there the next time we are in Bemus Point. If you read this review - you should be headed there as well. read more

Terrible terrible terrible this place is disgusting and overpriced. The portions are tiny and the food was cheap

Had not been to the Italian Fisherman in 10 years as always thought food was average yet overpriced. Had very high hopes for The Fish - revamped and new owners. Sat downstairs. Waitress was very nice but they were understaffed and service was very slow. Portions were small yet expensive. Not sure where the owner/manager was but would have thought they would be walking around checking on things. I like what they have done with yoga and paint parties but they really need to get their act together on food and service. Disappointed. read more

The view was nice sat inside but put by door to kitchen. After we were seated no one came to take drink orders grabbed waitress as she was at another table. Motioned we needed refills acknowledged but no one ever came went to bar to get refills Food was ok but service was non existent. Two other tables commented to us about the same problem. read more

What a lovely spot! On the lake with multiple seating areas - a floating dock with a bar for boaters and non-boaters. Food delicious. I had the tuna nacho appetizer as my meal - more than sufficient serving for an entree. A little messy to eat however (a bigger plate would have helped). Served with a bit of seaweed salad, pickled ginger slices and a balsamic drizzle; ahi tuna perfectly seared. Companion had the portobello mushroom sandwich which was loved. It came with fries. Full service bar for any type of beverage. Great spot; try it! PS Staff was friendly + professional. Again, a winner! read more

Been there twice. First time a semi raw fish sandwich! Last night tried again because if the great atmosphere. How do you ruin a Club sandwich! No mayo (waitress got me some), tasteless bacon, and turkey so dry you could hardly swallow it! On top of it all the bill for 4 of us, each only having a sandwich or salad, and a couple beers was over $130 with tip! Ouch! Sorry, for me it's 2 strikes and your out! read more

This may have been the worst experience in a restaurant I've ever had in my life. To start, the employees had to check three times wether the kitchen was still open and serving at 9:50 pm. It in fact was still serving after finally finding this out, which we already knew because we called 4 minutes prior to arrival. Shortly after we were seated on the floating dock. The lights for the ambiance of this restaurant gave me a serious headache and made me want to vomit. A real blemish on the lakeside properties compared to what it used to be. After a solid 20 minutes of waiting we finally got our dinner and I wish I hadn't even waited this long. It was a major disappointment, the food was luke warm and something I could've cooked at home. Mine as well have saved the pretty penny I spent and cooked for myself. I miss the old Italian Fisherman where I had enjoyed many meals, but unfortunately it's just not the same. I did not enjoy the staff or the management, overall a pretty poor experience. Nothing makes a meal like rude employees. Next time I eat in Bemus I will be taking my business across the street to EBC where my experiences have been nothing but spectacular. I will never be dining here again and thank you for the experience, NOT! read more

My experience at the Fish was very poor. My issue was with the management. They were incredibly disrespectful to my friends and I and the condescending words were unnecessary. I would not recommend supporting this restaurant, however I would encourage a walk across the street to EBC where the service, food, and atmosphere makes for a great time. read more

This is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. The manager is very rude and has terrible customer service. They are a new restaurant and appear not to care about getting or keeping customers. I would beware about eating here. The other restaurants in Bemus will treat you like they care you are and will be a customer. The manger needs to be fired for her poor customer service. read more

Stopped there on a whim. It is right on the water with both indoor and outdoor seating plus a floating bar. The day was hot, sticky and beautiful all in one. Hubby and I sat outside. I hate spiders and in my hour or so there never even saw a web. Hats off to the owner for getting those gone. I am sure that is a daily routine. We both ordered the Bacon Bleu Burger which had caramelized onions and bacon jam. It came with french fries which I do not normally order or eat. At my request, they added tomato, raw onion and lettuce with a side of mayo. The roll and all the toppings made the perfectly cooked burger absolutely delicious! The french fries had a special coating on them. I asked that they be extra well done and they were. Needless to say I ate every morsel on my plate. I will not take a star away for the well water that they served with lemon. Sure wished it was purified. The Raspberry Ice tea was sweet but good. They only serve 16 oz beers both draft and canned/bottled. Our serven was Lauren and she was on the ball along with the other servers who hustled around us. The bathrooms were clean but a tight squeeze and the one at street level didn't flush but I Can't wait to go back again. read more

The drinks were fine and the view was indeed very nice. Unfortunately, all the dishes in our party of four were both not enjoyable and expensive. The ahi poke was not flavorful and was tough and chewy. The Sazon chicken penne was spicy but that was not indicated on the menu, which made it unenjoyable. The chicken on the summer sale was boiled, not seasoned, flavorful and grilled. The duck breast in another entree was overly fatty, under cooked and not well seasoned. I have been a fan of the Italian Fisherman for years. I've always been satisfied with the menu and food preparations. Tremendous disappointment and 120 dollars poorer, even with discounts for complaints. read more

You can't beat the views here. The live music is awesome. But that's about all there is to be desired about this place. We were hoping for the best. After years of being avid Italian Fisherman patrons we knew it would be a different experience and we were totally okay with that and open to that change. But things are not good here. On this particular night I ordered the panzanella salad which is described as having fresh mozzarella, onion, tomato, basil, avocado, croutons and aged balsamic. It came out as literally just mozzarella and diced tomatoes on a plate (the tomatoes were tasteless and meant for garnish on burgers). It could not even be considered a meal. Earlier in the week we came for drinks and the wine was skunked, our fish tacos came out looking completely different than the description on the menu (and also looked completely different than that of the table next to us who ordered the same thing), and the wings were awful (maybe undercooked). It's almost like they are trying to fail. Shout out to the wait staff who are doing their best - I feel bad for them because I'm sure they get the brunt of the complaints. Our waitress went above and beyond to repair the damage. I'm going to cross my fingers for a turnaround next season. But to give credit where credit is due, the kids menu pasta was really good so maybe just order off the kids menu. read more

My review is for the outside casual deck. Waitress was kind, took our orders, 2 fish platters with snow crab legs, chicken Cesar salad and the chicken over penne. Well an hour later we politely asked our waitress where our food was. It's on it's way! We came to realize they haven't even started it. We were sitting right by the grill. My daughter was getting dizzy and needed to eat so we asked again. 30 minutes later they brought the fish and snow crab legs and said it would just be a little longer for the salad. Really it takes over 1 1/2 hours to make a salad? Well the crab, fried fish and french fries were cold, can't figure that one out since "it just came off the grill". The boys ate it any way. About 20 minutes after that they brought my daughters salad but it wasn't even on the correct type of lettuce. Caesar is on Romaine, anyway she didn't complain much and ate it. Everyone was done eating and still 2 hours later I don't have my chicken and pasta. We went up and said forget it we are leaving so I can go somewhere and get some food. "It'll be there in 3 minutes" Ok please box it.. welll... it never came. The manager was very rude but took it off our bill, like he was doing us a great favor for food that never came. I went to the pie and ice cream shop across the street and got a pack of nuts. Let me just say the view was nice at the Fish but you can pretty much see the lake from anywhere you go. Glad the market had nuts because I was hungry! read more

I have been here twice, and both times the service has been absolutely atrocious. The first time I went here, we waited an hour and a half for our food while the restaurant was practically empty. We didn't even stay around to receive the food because we were sick of waiting. The second time, we actually got our Food in at least 40 mins. It wasn't exactly worth it, the food is decent, but nothing special. The servers lack important information on the food they serve. My mother has to eat gluten free, and she asked the server if the fries were dipped in batter. The server replied yes, but when the fries came they were clearly batter dipped. I can only imagine what may have happened if my mother had celiac disease. The server also did not bring sugar for my mother's tea until the third time of her asking. The restaurant also did not clean well; there were chicken wing bones left underneath our table. They should also reconsider the men who play their live music. They are tone deaf and untalented, and popular songs became unrecognizable. It's a shame this restaurant sucks so much, because it has a wonderful location on lake Chautauqua. read more

Ate lunch on the deck down stairs today. Beautiful day on the lake. Too bad our experience didn't match. Ordered a fish sandwich. The $13 "fish" sandwich was literally 2 small perfectly formed triangles of frozen fish sticks. There was such a tiny schmere of tarter sauce on the large overpowering bun that I asked for extra tarter sauce which came in a thimble sized plastic cup. At least the fries were hot. To my surprise, when the bill came, I discovered that we had been charged $2 for the extra tiny schmere of tarter sauce. $2 !?!?. Are you kidding me? A $4 fish fillet would have yielded twice the quantity and quality of fish and I could have all the sauce I wanted for free. Our indifferent waitress capped off our lackluster lunch. Some things never change, the former Italian Fisherman charged for iced tea refills. Too bad. We want to support local but will only do so with quality establishments. read more

Very very unsatisfied if I could give it a zero I would, we will never dine here again absolutely horrible service ordered the fish fry waited 30 minutes after ordering to be then told they didn't have any fish on a Saturday night at the beginning of the season at a place called "The Fish"...we then ordered the 22oz ribeye and waited another hour before we finally were ready to leave and they said it was coming out in 5 minutes...when it came out, it was raw and cold in the middle so we sent it back they brought it out again same thing, it didn't actually look like it had been cooked at all... so finally after sitting hungry for two hours the manager( if you can call her that) came over and asked us "so what's the problem here folks" which at this point should have already been explained to her by her server but apparently that wasn't the case and so the server had to explain all of this in front of us while the manger just stood there without much to say... it was almost as if she thought her server was lying and we would tell a different story, she should have come to our table with a plan of action to try and make up for the truly horrible experience. She finally said something about comping our drinks but only two of us were drinking, so that hardly made any of us feel any better. We also did not get our steak so two of us left hungry... its sad, great location horrible experience we won't be back and I suggest others not put yourselves through it either. Thanks for nothing! read more

This was our second visit and the wait for the food was pretty excessive. We started off with a 10 minute delay as we needed to seek out a server to clear a table and request to be seated. We ordered and waited about 45 minutes for the food to arrive. Interesting enough, the outdoor kitchen was about 10 yards away from our table and we observed panic and chaos between servers and kitchen personnel. This included a screaming match between employees about the delayed preparation of food. I ordered chicken wings and observed them sit on the counter for at least 20 minutes under a heat lamp while it waited for the rest of our order to catch up. When the wings arrived they were no longer crispy. No blue cheese with order. Server had to retrieve it from another kitchen on the other side of building. No silverware or napkins for the table even after we asked for same. We had to physically get up and walked to another area of restaurant to retrieve napkins. Our ketchup bottle was empty and couldn't find the server so we searched to the other end of the restaurant once again. My wife's hamburger was burnt like a hockey puck with my daughter's boyfriend order looked the same - over cooked and charred. We didn't dare send it back as we already waited 45 minutes. My daughters buffalo chicken sandwich arrived without the lettuce, tomato and blue cheese, yet it was advertised on the menu. Once again could not find the server. My daughter was forced to use the blue cheese which ear marked for my wings and was forced to use a piece of celery to apply the dressing on her sandwich because of the no utensils provided. The best item were the French Fries---- hot and crispy. The lack of organization in the kitchen was evident, quality of the food was subpar and the restaurant basics were not met. Re- think visiting this restaurant. read more

My wife and I went here on a Friday afternoon. We were encouraged to use the downstairs part, because it was "less formal". When we sat at our table, the menu didn't have anything we saw on the menu out front, and the resin chairs seemed very unstable. So, we went back upstairs and sat there. The waitress eventually showed up to take our order. Wife ordered a chicken sandwich, and I ordered tuna nachos and a french onion soup. About 5 minutes later, the waitress came by to inform me they didn't have the nachos; so, I ordered the fish sandwich. Next, the soup came out. She warned me that it was very hot due to the melted cheese. It was stone cold, and the saltiest I've ever had. Then the sandwiches arrived. The wife's bread was burnt, and the chicken was almost entirely gristle. She ate the cheese, and 1/4 of the chicken. Our fries weren't too bad. My fish sandwich was deconstructed, as the waitress said she tripped & almost fell down. My drink was empty from the soup, but she never came back to check on us. When we were ready to leave, she eventually came back. I asked for a box for the 2/3 of my sandwich I hadn't eaten. 10 minutes later she came back to inform me they had no take out boxes. I asked about foil. Another 10 minutes before she told me they were out of foil too. She said she was sorry and confused. Basically we paid $40 for 1/2 a sandwich, a pepsi, and a few fries. I'm not one to write reviews (positive or negative), but I really hope to help prevent someone else from having this miserable experience. read more

We've been going to Bemus point for over 7 years now and the Italian Fisherman was by far my favorite spot to eat and sit to enjoy the beautiful lake. We decided last year not to try the new fish bc it was a new restaurant and we like for them to work their kinks out before attending. Well 1 year later, this restaurant was a huge disappointment. We sat down on the outside deck to a table that was never cleaned, sat for 15 minutes until someone decided to wait on us. Once waited on, we ordered all at once because you could see the service was going to be slow. 22 minutes later we received our 2 Pepsi's and 5 minutes later we received 2 draft beers. Another 30 minutes later one kid hamburger comes out, 5min later a turkey club, 10 min later a Cuban and chicken parmigiana comes out. To only be told our tuna nachos app was not available. To add to the incompetence of the kitchen, plastic was left on the ham on the Cuban sandwich. Finally when asking to speak to management, the manager wasn't receptive to our one complaint about the plastic. He said well I guess I will take the Cuban off your bill for you. We weren't looking for a free meal, we wanted him to be aware of the incompetence of his kitchen. It's sad we will NEVER be back until it inevitably changes hands. A prime location that has made their service and food a complete bust! read more

The old cliche' of fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, the third time is just stupidity on our wondering change but NO! What happened to this restaurant? Food related sickness the first visit but, played it off thinking just maybe it wasn't due to the food....wrong. Second time, (Months later) the place was empty on a Friday night and wondered why? Horrible service, tables not cleaned, couple next to us also complaining about the meal...the list goes on. Went to support a local singer the third time, and found the place empty again on a Saturday night. The Reuben Sandwich pictured on the FB page is quite false advertising. I ordered wings as an appetizer and were cold, extremely small, and were dryer than dry. My son ordered French onion soup that was cold and contained no broth but nasty old onions that were not edible. Now, lets get to my Reuben...[2] small proceed pieces of corned beef (I think) less than a 1/16" on a piece of bread sandwiched with a small spread of sauerkraut. A small bowl of Thousand Island dressing was brought out after the meal as the waitress forgot....really? My wife had the chicken Pannini that was left due to dry basil spread and chicken chunks that was ridiculous. To top the evening, the other table, who also was there to support the music duo, were com-motioning as we got into a conversation. They found a curly hair in the burger which was also as hard as a hockey puck and they at least told the waitress/hostess/bartender and possibly slash cook. As we left, we talked to the other table of customers over the filth of the tables, silverware, and lack of service. [2] hours from start to finish and the place was empty except for our [2] tables and a couple locals at the bar drinking. There will NOT be another visit to this restaurant nor the other table of customers that actually had to laugh as this was like a parody. read more

Shocking experience. So, my wife has wanted to go to this place for a while now, but for whatever reason we never made it over there. Friday night we had a sitter, we hit the town looking for a place to eat, and I suggested we hit up that restaurant she has been wanting to go to for some time now. She was excited and we made the 25 minute drive to the place my mouth already watering in anticipation of what I was hoping would be a 20 oz prime rib on their menu. We got there, got a place to park, walked in and stood at the hostess podium. The place was mostly empty, I'm guessing because fall had begun, and several servers walked past us without a comment. No biggie, I'm sure we are just waiting for a hostess, I look down at the podium and figure Ill start eyeing up the menu. It didn't look impressive. Before I notice a server is asking the older, whiter couple behind me where they'd like to sit (apparently there is an upper and lower floor), and whisked them away. I looked at my wife like "what just happened? Did they look like better tippers?" I brushed it off. I was hungry and didn't want any part of traveling 25 mins back to town to find another place. Another waitress passed. I asked "Excuse me, what is the difference between upstairs and down stairs?" Another older couple walked in behind us. The waitress explained there are two menus, one upper, one lower, and that they were combining restaurants. I got re-energized about the prospects of a different menu for a moment. She then looked at the richer, whiter looking couple behind me, engaged them in conversation and whisked them away to a table. We were SHOCKED. I couldn't believe that just happened. TWICE. By 2 different servers. We looked at each other, turned, left, drove 30 minutes to a different restaurant. After getting my prime rib someplace else I decided to message The Fish on facebook and tell them of my encounter. Surely a manager would be appalled. They read my message and didn't even reply. Wow. read more
