The Fields at RFK may be the city's best playground/play area. Here's why:
1) Playground: The ground is bouncy making it safer for kids and the equipment is slightly more advanced to help children develop confidence. There are mounds to climb, a three story slide, swings, etc. There's equipment for older kids and young kids like my 2-year-old daughter.
2) Fields: Nearby are several fields often used for soccer. My daughter loves watching people play soccer offering more entertainment.
3) View: Kids love that the Metro soars by nearby above ground and adults find it cool too!
4) Facilities: There are trash cans around, a party pavilion with outlets, and nice bathrooms with plenty of drinking water.
5) Kingman Island: Nearby is the entrance to Kingman Island, a man-made island in the Anacostia River with canoes, over 100 resident and migratory birds, and wooden bridges.
We're averaging two trips a day here on the weekends. It's such a great area for families! read more
