The layout is spacious, making it easy to browse, and there's truly something for everyone--from serious gearheads to casual shoppers looking for something cool or unique. The variety and size of this location are impressive. It's one of those rare places you could spend an hour in without realizing it. Every visit feels like a mini treasure hunt. The staff is friendly, and everything is well-organized despite the volume of inventory. Honestly, I wish there were more of these stores scattered throughout southern Massachusetts. Places like this are becoming harder to find, and Army Barracks is a gem worth supporting. Highly recommended if you're anywhere in the area.

I understand there's a time and a place for sweatshirts and fridge magnets emblazoned with the name of the place you visited. I myself own these items, but oh my lawd, the feeling when you find THE TREASURE of the trip is not found rooting through piles of crap you can just as easily buy on Amazon. This. Store. Is where you'll find it. I told the owner we had just gone to the House of Seven Gables. Friends, go there. Take the tour. Enjoy the historic architecture and knotted wisteria in the garden. And then go to Circus Lane and buy your souvenir. Literally each vendor had at least one vintage/antique/historic/unique/Salem made piece of the Gables. I walked out with a gorgeous *framed and signed* copper etching from a local artist and an original unused postcard from what looks like the 40s. Also bought two vintage lanterns with hand painted parrots on them, and obviously a Tshirt with the store's logo. Because it's Salem after all, but only if you know. And I love stuff like that.

I found a vintage postcard I really liked but unfortunately we didn't find anything else we wanted. When I went to check out, it came to $3. I asked if they used Venmo or cashapp, or if using a card on such a small purchase was a possibility. The woman checking us out (older with glasses) asked if we had cash. I apologized and said I didn't. She then said, "Wow, really, none of you have cash?" One of my friends apologized, saying we had just come from another store. She then blatantly chastised us, saying, "None of you have even $3?" We've all needlessly apologized at this point and she's just being mean. I tell her it's okay and turn to leave. She's then calling after me saying "Wow, you're not even going to buy and are just going to leave? We can do credit." At that point, I was out the door. I get that it's not ideal to use card for a small purchase. She could have said, "Sorry, we have a $5 card minimum" if she didn't want to make the sale. She could have just rang it up if she did want to make the sale. What I don't understand is why she would be so rude and antagonistic. I won't be coming back and will recommend others skip this shop.

I want to go in and find something I've never heard of or stumble upon something I didn't even know I needed. Big Fun excels in that and after a conversation with the owner I'll definitely be back and most likely just ask for a selection of "dealer's choice" records, as everything he played while I was browsing was something that piqued my interest.

Marblehead's Gift to Thrift…read more I recently poked around the adjoining rooms at St. Michael's Thrift Shop and found a well-organized selection of bargains. There was (I'm sure it's gone by now!) a brand spank'n new coffee maker, neat stacks of jeans, generous racks of men's and women's clothing, rows of shoes and boots, and the cutest sets of colorful tableware. It doesn't stop there, though. The upstairs houses an incipient collection of home furnishings, anchored by a gorgeous over-stuffed upholstered chair and an antique bamboo table.
