    The bunch we put together

Saw a Facebook post for u-pick flowers. Came on a Saturday around 11. It is open for U-pick flowers 10-1. They have a paved driveway and a small parking lot. Not sure where overflow parking would be. We had no issues. Walk through the cute shop that has veggies and other items. They have freshly baked pies too! We got just a slice of apple to try out. Whole pies are quite expensive so we wanted to taste first. You pay inside the store for the u-pick flowers. We did the $20 for a handful bunch. You walk outside and head over to a cart they have setup. You can bring your own shears and bucket if you want. Then pick away! My daughter was walking around for an hour making her bunch. She will dry or press to preserve them.

This is an adorable and delightful spot to visit with little kiddos! We came on a Wednesday morning while story time was happening. All the staff we interacted with were warm, friendly, and helpful. They patiently answered questions we had. I enjoyed browsing the store that had a variety of items--produce, pies, toys, books, soaps, kitchen items, decor, clothing, & so many more random finds! I walked away with a bunny figurine and a bag of yummy chocolate chip cookies. Our little one thoroughly enjoyed seeing & petting some of the animals--rabbits, chickens, water fowl, and goats. You can pay to get a little cup of greens to feed the goats. There are many cute photo ops for kids, such as with the animals, on a tiny tractor, in front of a truck, with a windmill in the background, or by the verdant fields. We saw there was a little cow train that was in the field as well. There are tables with umbrellas & restrooms. It's a super cute experience & a pleasant way to spend some time.

Came for the U Pick Flowers and for $21 it's a great experience! They provide you with a bucket and shears and lots of beautiful flowers to choose from. Would advise on bringing gloves and watch out for the bees! Was a little bummed with their produce as it's quite expensive. Picked up a half flat of strawberries and though I thought the season was done, they are so sweet and luscious! Also picked up a box of their soft heirloom tomatoes for $10! Fun time for families and friends!

Visited the Farm on a weekend morning/afternoon. The drive to get over here is positively scenic and provides great contrast to the coastline, Monterey has the best views. When I saw the beautiful U-Pick Flowers I couldn't help myself. Afterwards I stopped into the barn to pick up a pie. They have lots of options but opted for the strawberry olallieberry crumb for it's fun, unique name. Came home to clean/cut and arrange the flowers and had a slice of pie. It was a great balance of sweet and tart. Though the bottom crust wasn't as cooked through as I usually like, the crumb topping had good texture. These pies are not cheap, they run about $31 after tax. But if you have extra money to blow, this is a beautiful place with great hospitality.

Had a wonderful visit with my mom and two little kids. Staff was so warm and welcoming! Got a pot pie for dinner and it was delicious

Paying $21.76 for only these three stone fruits appears excessively expensive.

I have a deep appreciation for the ambiance and a strong desire to show my support for local farms. However, I find it somewhat extravagant to spend $21.76 solely on these particular stone fruits.

These are truly the world's best artichokes, along with amazing snacks, plants, produce, and other delicious treats. Be sure to try the artichoke cupcake with cream cheese frosting. It's similar to zucchini bread, not too sweet, and yes, it actually has artichoke pieces inside. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and happy to answer any questions you may have. They offer artichokes in several sizes (extra small, small, medium, large, and jumbo), along with cooking directions, recipes, and tips. But honestly, these are by far the best artichokes anywhere. The leaves have so much meat on them, it's incredible. I cannot stress enough how amazing they are. What else would you expect from the artichoke capital of the world, from a family that has been doing this for over 80 years? They also sell cheese, fresh produce, spices, oils, jams, honey, homemade loaves of bread, and so much more. It is definitely worth the stop. We usually leave with a huge haul and start counting down the days until our next visit, because nothing else compares. And don't miss the artichoke food truck on site. We had artichoke tacos and deep-fried artichokes with dill dip. Everything was fresh, delicious, and not greasy at all. Stop by and pay them a visit. There is something for everybody.

The Good: *Bigger than the usual farmstand, as this place is pretty epic with tons of great stuff from not just their own Farm, but other neighboring farms and other local producers. *As fresh as it gets, as most of the produce is grown from within feet to a few miles away. *Artichoke cupcake was delicious! Seriously. Try it. :) The Meh: *Parking lot is smallish but it's ample. *Service was, well, it got the job done and not much beyond that. The Ugly: *Prices are a little high, but I still always try and buy a few things to support them. Conclusion: Definitely worth a stop if your traipsing thru the Central Coast.

You need to have more quality control on your products…read more I'm very disappointed with my recent purchase from Peninsula Produce. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I've encountered this issue. Every time I buy vegetables or fruits from your store, they turn out to be old and in poor condition. I bought a bag of wrapped romaine lettuce that I was told was fresh and new. However, when I got home and opened it, it was clearly old and wilted, as shown in the attached photo. It is not worth to return it as the trip is going to cost be more than 3.99. I hope you take this feedback seriously and improve your quality control. You may have to hunt through some less-attractive produce in the bin, but you'll be rewarded with deals like oranges at $.49 a pound or onions at $.39 a pound. They also have interesting assortments of spices and somewhat random selections of other goods, particularly from the Middle East. It's not a big place and it seems to be pretty popular, so patience is usually a good thing when visiting and waiting for checkout. The guy who's usually working there is great and will often walk around asking if you need help finding things. I would recommend getting a receipt and double-checking your purchases in part because check-out can be kind of confusing in terms of what's been scanned or not, but I've found the prices to always add up correctly.

They have exotic brands from around the world along with rare and older brands that the big box grocery stores don't carry. I don't know how they do it, but the quality and freshness of the vegetables and perishables are top notch given such variety. We used to shop at Whole Foods in Monterey, and we like the small specialty shops like Elroy's in Monterey and Jerome's Carmel Valley Market, but Star Market is a combination of both worlds. Whole Foods has gotten corporate with an overemphasis on their own brands. Star Market doesn't really have their brand so they are extremely loyal to local brands which makes the shopping experience feel like a tour of Monterey County highlights. I also like the very practical way they're running their business. Few frills, very clean, and high quality. In fact, it feels very nostalgic to walk in, like a movie set from the 1970's which makes me feel that this is still a family owned and run business. If you're looking for a truly unique experience that is different from the Albertsons/Lucky/Safeway/Nob Hill sameness, then you have to do yourself a favor and visit Star Market. It has a Salinas/Monterey old fashioned charm coupled with unrivaled variety and quality.
