You need to have more quality control on your products. I'm very disappointed with my recent purchase from Peninsula Produce. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I've encountered this issue. Every time I buy vegetables or fruits from your store, they turn out to be old and in poor condition. I bought a bag of wrapped romaine lettuce that I was told was fresh and new. However, when I got home and opened it, it was clearly old and wilted, as shown in the attached photo. It is not worth to return it as the trip is going to cost be more than 3.99. I hope you take this feedback seriously and improve your quality control. Customers deserve fresh, quality produce--especially when it's advertised as such. read more

This place is awesome for seasonal fruits of all kind at a great price. Best prices in town for most fruits and vegetables as well as herbs. You may have to hunt through some less-attractive produce in the bin, but you'll be rewarded with deals like oranges at $.49 a pound or onions at $.39 a pound. They also have interesting assortments of spices and somewhat random selections of other goods, particularly from the Middle East. It's not a big place and it seems to be pretty popular, so patience is usually a good thing when visiting and waiting for checkout. The guy who's usually working there is great and will often walk around asking if you need help finding things. I would recommend getting a receipt and double-checking your purchases in part because check-out can be kind of confusing in terms of what's been scanned or not, but I've found the prices to always add up correctly. read more

I really like this produce market. The prices can't be matched by the supermarket chains. Walmart comes close in price. The market has a very nice selection of melons, peaches onions and potatoes in outside bins. Refrigerated produce is inside the store. Prices are well marked and the market provides thick large plastic bags for stuffing your bargain vegetables and fruit into. Today I paid .49 a pound for yellow onions. .49 for a fresh, healthy bunch of cilantro and $1.49 for beautiful white peaches. Cucumbers were offered for .59 each so I grabbed one for tonight's salad. I happened to meet the owner on this visit. He says there are plans in development to make some cosmetic changes to the inside of the store. I hope he doesn't change too much. Be extremely wary when shopping here. The low prices are great but the people that work there are crooked, especially the women that works cashier there, I don't know her first name but her last name is Garcia. I went in today to get groceries. My bill came out to 106 dollars which was very off putting because I've never spent more then $40 for the amount of groceries I get. My cashier was the women who is usually there. I saw a charge for $20 dollars for the 2 bunches of Broccolini I had. I asked her how much it was for one and why it was $20 dollars. She said for one it was $5.98. So I asked her "shouldn't it be around 12 dollars then?, or is it 10 dollars for one?" And she continued to say it's because it's two, which made no sense at all. I finally said "look if it's $20 I don't want it." And once she took the $20 broccolini off, my bill magically shrunk to $35 dollars. This women was trying to charge me 106 dollars for 35 dollars worth of groceries and if I hadn't caught her I would've been scammed out of $70. She said "sorry thanks for telling me, have a good day" what I dont understand is, if you've worked there for yrs like she has then there's no way you can scan $35 worth of groceries as $106 and not realize it until your told because you know exactly what $35 dollars worth of groceries look like and what $106 dollars worth of groceries look like. I would strongly suggest not doing business with Peninsula Peninsula produce. Fortunately I only lost $35 in an attempt to use their website to order produce. When my order was not delivered, I called to find out why and nobody knew what I was talking about. Eventually I got them to give me their boss' cell number. He was gracious on the phone and promised to get me my order within two hours of speaking to him. I was told that my payment probably went to Russo's Produce and that they likely never got the money. I used the Peninsula Produce website to pay so there was no reason to believe the payment could have been sent to Russo's produce instead. I assumed at this point I was probably being lied to. Even though Peninsula Produce uses a PayPal merchant service to process their online payments, It did not show in my PayPal account as a PayPal purchase making it impossible to file a dispute. Again, avoid Peninsula Produce especially if ordering online or making a non-cash purchase. Probably just avoid buying food from a business where ethics and honesty are such a low priority or entirely absent. read more

Great selection of raw beans, lentils, spices, nuts, international food in addition to the beautiful and large (relatively speaking for a little produce stand) fruit and veg selection. They have bulk fresh herbs which means you can buy just one sprig of basil if thats all you need so you aren't watching a bunch of it wilt away in your fridge. Also have random things like eggs, mexican cheese, fresh baked bread from a local bakery. The staff is always very friendly and the prices cannot be beat. Great local, corner market that everyone should visit instead of giving paying the big corporate prices at stores like Safeway and WF. And, they have bunches of flowers for under $3!!! What?! I go here all the time (live right down the street) and am very happy with the selection. pros: +cheap +wide selection cons: -some days the produce is not as fresh, especially stuff like bok choy and some other greens. For me, that just means I skip it that day since I rarely come in looking for a specific thing but rather just come in and get whatever looks good and use that. If you were coming in for something specific, I could see how this might be troublesome, but for me it works just fine. -avocados are hit or miss and pretty much just as expensive as safeway All in all very happy shopping here, I get cauliflower for $2 a head at least once a week and get all my onions/broccoli/greens from here. read more

This market has a variety of Mexican, Asian and Middle Eastern grocery staples in addition to the produce offerings. However, the produce has been disappointing for several years - the refrigeration seems to be lacking and many "fresh" vegetables appear wilted, old and of 3rd rate quality. Potatoes and onions? You're probably okay with those, but often times the rest looks pretty sad. The "fresh" pita and flat breads had me excited but upon getting it home we could tell it was old and stale. I shop here only once in a while for the bulgar wheat, middle eastern spices and occasional flower bouquet, but if they would step up the quality of the vegetables I would visit more often. read more

Going on a regular basis. They don't have all the items I am looking for but some and at a good price and decent quality. For example Zucchinis are almost always much lower priced than at other stores, most of the time below $1 per pound and I like zucchinis. There are a few other items I get from there as well. I was so shock by old this place how do they stay in business, I hope they fix the refrigerator system. Produce at 60 degree( greens) it ok but the milk at 50, my Lord; Someone could get really sick. Shipping at another produce market made me thankful for this place, so I'm leaving a good review finally. They don't overcharge you like the other place in town, they are honest and their prices are fair. They have a good selection, some organics, and items are well stocked and in good shape. I can get over a weeks worth of produce here for under 30 dollars, which saves me money over the supermarket. I will continue to come here for my weekly veggie and fruit needs. read more

This is my new favorite place to get fresh produce! Perfect for throwing together a salad or grabbing some miscellaneous fruits and veggies. The prices can't be beat and they have a lot of specialty items (I bought sesame seeds here, for example). Sometimes it's hard to get enough stuff to make the $5 minimum mark so you can pay with a credit card. The parking area is a little tricky but totally worth it. read more

This is the place I get most of my produce from. The produce here is not always as good looking as it is at somewhere like Grove Market, but the selection is better and the prices for some things are about half of what you'd pay there. Been going here a while. I prefer to go up to Moss Landing but when I don't want to make the trip this place suits fine. They carry a lot of exotic produce, depending on what is in season, like various eggplants, citrus, Latin American fruits and even Durian, although I think it was a special order (like, real special). Like all real fruit stands, the produce arrives fresh, neither wax-coated nor irradiated. They do not specify what is organic or not. In defense, because the produce is fresh, it will not last as long as some other places. I eat lots of peppers/chiles and tomatoes, which don't last long without the implementation of some funky food technology. Wilted leafy greens are very common at stands like this, because they require top-notch refrigeration and sprayers. A little cold water keeps things crispy-crunchy, but it costs a lot to get the right equipment. Fortunately, they sell enough stuff to stay in business. Someone I referred swears that the fruit here tastes better than that wihich they buy under the guise "organic" at bigger markets. read more

This is the only place I buy my produce. When I first moved to the area a few months ago I searched desperately for a local produce place that actually provided local produce....I mean, this is California right? I've been to a few others in the area but this is the ONLY store that combines great selection and unbeatable prices with LOCAL produce. They also carry a wide variety of nuts and other ethnic staples (Middle Eastern, Asian, and Mexican) as well as gorgeous flower arrangements at excellent prices. I've met one of the owners, Rafael, a few times while perusing the aisles.....he is extremely helpful and very friendly. He recently informed me that in a few weeks they will be moving to organic! He assured me that at least 70 percent of their produce will be organic and that there will be no noticeable change in price! I can't say enough about this place! read more

My favorite place to get my weekly produce. I usually buy whatever is in season and/or whatever is cheapest. The quality is usually really good. If something is of poor quality I will come back and check again the following week and buy that item then. read more
