Antony & Cleopatra Caterers - 30th Birthday Party

Our family has an upcoming event this fall. We had a consultation with the owners of Antony and…read moreCleopatra about a month ago. The owners seem to be nice people and quoted us a price that was reasonable and affordable for our budget. We also attended a tasting recently. The food selections and preparation was delicious. The manager and server was thoughtful and attentive and did their best to accommodate our needs. Since our special occasion is a few months away, we expect to receive the same level of service, if not better. My only concern is the physical condition of the facility, especially the bathrooms. The appliances around the toilet are rusted. It seems there have been very few updates in a while. Also, the outdoor carpet at the front entrance is old and torn and there is a musty smell in the building that greets you as you enter the foyer. First impressions make a difference. Guests love to be catered to and catering goes beyond just food. It is about creating a beautiful atmosphere that people will remember for years to come. This is a great catering hall with potential to be even greater and I hope the owners will consider taking some steps to make that happen. It is not my intention to offend anyone but to offer some constructive criticism. I hope it will be taken in that spirit.

However I have to say I wasn't impressed by how organized the facility was for the banquet and I was even less impressed by the open house where they seemed severely understaffed and I watched multiple staff members abandon their station and then the open house guests were just taking things. For example the entrees were manned for maybe the first 20 minutes and then there was nobody there and I saw people just come up and take whatever they wanted. When the desserts were put out there were people touching the cake before it was cut and at least two women who just piled their plates high and left little to try for anyone else. They seemed under-prepared for the amount of people that were there and it was hard to catch someone to ask questions. They also seemed a bit overpriced for what's on offer compared to some other places we looked at for our wedding. I'd say decent for a banquet or birthday but probably not for something bigger.

During our rehearsal the day of the event there was to be food provided that we never received. There was nothing at the bar but sprite. There was supposed to be a buffet at the event but instead the company chose to have wait staff pass around hors d'oeuvres that weren't too bad but NOT WHAT PEOPLE PAYED FOR. The stage we had to walk on was rickety and small. Can you imagine how terrified I was walking on that in stilettos and other 5 inch heels! Don't get me wrong the set up was beautiful but I'm sure that was mostly due to our own awesome staff for the night. And the manger had a standoffish demeanor the entire night. Lastly they tried to upcharge the event when they did not even supply what was asked!! I'm only giving this two stars because our event still was amazing.

I had fettuccine Alfredo, chicken with a mushroom sauce and maybe spinach?, bourbon salmon, and mixed vegetables. In my opinion serving a safe dinner is better than taking the creative road and your guest starving to death. Would I have my wedding here? Probably not. But would I recommended it? I wouldn't turn you away.

I returned it to the store the day after Christmas the manager came to the desk was very rude laughed at me, turned around and told the guy give her a credit. Did not even try to make up for the fact that my entire Christmas dinner was ruined. One star is too many for this store. I've shopped there for years when they had their first bouts in Washington Township and that is how I got treated. They never called me even though the guy working at the courtesy counter said he would leave a note for the owners to call me with my phone number. No one ever called me. They don't even care what somebody went through and how their Christmas dinner was ruined. They are horrible.

I can see the points of both reviews below, and partially agree with each…read more Bottino's is like the lesser of 2 evils in town. It's certainly not as bad as the one review makes it out to be, but it isn't ideal. The regular/non-organic produce is much better at acme, as is the meat. But acme prices on everything else is much higher. Who wants to go to two food stores. So I assume people go to shoprite due to the price. The prepared foods are mediocre. The hot foods and salad bar look like a school cafeteria. But this is apparently good to many people, so it works. Shoprite does put a considerable of effort into stocking alternative diet food items, such as organic, gluten free, vegan etc. they've really come a long way in recent years, especially with having dedicated areas for it. I eat organic and gluten free. I can manage to eat solely gluten free shopping here, but could never sustain myself with their organic produce. It's atrocious. It's generally old/moldy. I'll even place something on a separate shelf if I find a moldy item (every trip so keep your eye out). If I had a web and in my backyard I'd shop there once a week, but I don't. So this will have to do. And it's just fine. FYI: Zallies shoprites have much better bakeries than Bottinos. No comparison.
