    Axe throwing!
    Melanie R.

Man.. throwing axes is great therapy haha! My husband and I have been wanting to go.. but in the past, other locations have either needed you to rent a lane (that is better when you have a bigger group) or have a bigger group than 2 people otherwise you could get put into a random group to share your lane. So we've held off until we can find a group.. but on this rainy Saturday, figured, let's just try this location! Walk-ins are welcome which is a huge plus! This location was able to accommodate just 2 people and for a really good price (in my opinion)! $50 for 2 of us for 1 hour! That's pretty good.. and plenty because I was tired by the end :-) COVID TIMES Normally you can bring outside drinks and food.. but because there's no indoor dining, that applies to this place too. They did allow us to bring our stuff in and use their fridge, but we had to eat and drink outside, so that was nice of them to offer. Also, gotta wear a mask inside. I do wish we were able to remove the masks once we were in our lanes... but we weren't. But they followed Covid recommendations to decrease the spread and the place was spotless! Bathrooms were clean and you were also able to open the door without even touching the handles, which is excellent! Customer Service Excellent! Jesus took care of us in the front and explained everything and demonstrated everything that came with safely throwing axes! Came to check on us throughout our session and was just overall great! Location Located in a shopping strip all the way to the left next to Reyta Filipino restaurant. Long hallway walking in. Sign your waiver as directed and pay for what you want at the front desk! Lots of open space with pool tables, arcade games.. etc. It's nice during this time because it's not crowded at all! So if you're looking for something new to try, get some people together and throw some axes!

Where do I start, (thinking), this wasn't our first time here by far. We were going back in lieu of trying another location due to proximity. Reservations started off rough as they want 6 in the group on Saturday and we only had 4. Had to speak to the Manger for the to be okay. The manager, Jee, AMAZING! He took charge of the appointment and made sure everything went as planned for a special birthday of a young 22 year old. Con: The night and weekend manager (Kate) is not much help and does not have a lot of answers. Aloof I think another reviewer wrote. Jee made us want to invite more people not just the 4 so we wound up with a group of 7 and will return without question. Now our axe master, Joei (I hope I am spelling that right) we had before and requested again she is absolutely the BEST! I definately recommend her but hope when we come back she isn't too booked up. She interacted with us but isn't intrusive. She is observant to your throwing and gives pointers. I must say this may have been one of the best times we had here and we say THANK YOU to Jee and Joei!

Super fun and nice staff. Loved the experience! Lots of other games to play too! Not just axe throwing!

This place is amazing! We had a surprise 30th birthday party there for my fiancee last night. From booking the party to setting it up the managment was so friendly and helpful. The staff helped me lug in all of the stuff I brought, were organized in helping everyone and moved things along seamlessly! Once out party stared our coaches were so fun but also in control so a worrier like me felt super safe! Even with a party of 21 everyone got to spend a lot of time throwing in the arena during our 2 hours! They even let us move upstairs to the game room for cake after our time was up! I cannot say enough good things about Choppers and I am so glad they have moved into our neighborhood! Everyone in our party is still talking about how much fun they had and how they cant wait to come back!

A look at a some of the participants for the Choptober Challenge. If they can handle this crowd so well imagine what they can do for you.

I went to Choppers Hatchet House for the first time this past weekend to participate in the Choptober Challenge, the largest axe throwing event ever. With every aspect of my visit I was amazed, from the beautiful facility, the helpful and friendly staff and to the management that ran it all it was a spectacular event. With 256 axe throwers competing and many more spectators it was a crowded venue, but everything ran smoothly and everyone had an amazing time. With that kind of crowd and that level of service I can only imagine how much fun it would be to go on a normal day. And not only do they have axe throwing, which is one of the funniest up and coming sports, but they also have a nice retro arcade area along with pool tables, many TVs to watch sporting events and plenty of seating to be comfortable while you visit. I know I will be making a trip back to New Jersey to visit Choppers, and I highly suggest you do too.

We had an awesome afternoon at Choppers!!! I had a groupon, so a group of 7 of us headed over for a two hour session; definitely could have stayed longer. We brought our own drinks (no hard alcohol, which is a good idea!) and an array of food and just had a BLAST. The axe throwing is fun; and our "regulator"/coach, Josh, was hysterical. The first bit is spent learning how to throw and getting used to it. Then there were several rounds of one on one games, scored and moderated by our coach. THEN a tournament round. Honestly the was amazing and I can't wait to go again.

We were at Chopper's early NYE party of 6 - we had a great time! My siblings are in their late 50's to early 60's and they LOVED IT! They're so competitive!! Special thank you for wonderful coaching by Darren - I listened & got 3 bulls eye in a row! Awesome time!

Came here for a friend's birthday on a Saturday afternoon, and it did not disappoint. Our group had a great time and felt fully accommodated during our whole session. We had plenty of space to spread out our pizza/cake/chips/dips/etc. And, a whole fridge right near us to house our multiple cases of White Claw. Only a couple of us had ever thrown an axe before so we really appreciated how you have a host with you the entire time to offer tips and keep us competitive. Tip your hosts!

GREAT DAY OF FAMILY FUN !! My husband myself and our two boys had a BLAST . The teens are 15 and 16 and I was slightly nervous , but our guide Trevor Made SURE we all were instructed on safety . He stayed and hosted our games . We had such a great time ! I can't believe how much fun this is .! I had my heart set on winning but my husband did !! I will win next time !! After the session we all stayed another hour and played pool , pinball and a never ending JINGA game . You can bring in food and drinks . It's a good idea you do get a work out throwing. We did book ahead and went during the day on a week day which was perfect for a family

Went to Chopper's for my first axe throwing experience. I will be going back next time I am in town! We had the best service from the time we called until we walked out the door. Trevor was with us scoring and teaching us how to perfect our throws. I chose this venue out of all of the options because of the arcade games and pool tables after our event. The other competition just does not add up-once you are finished you have to leave. I enjoyed hanging out with my family for a while longer competing in games. 100% satisfaction!

We booked an hour ($32 per person per hour) which got us our own lane with two targets, two tomahawks and two hatchets, and "axe master" Alexis who showed us how everything worked and gave us tips on how to throw better. You can also pay extra to throw a wide assortment of gnarley, medieval looking weapons like spears and daggers and such. I spent a good chunk of time aiming for the blue dot "kill shot" and finally succeeded with just a few minutes left in the session. This got me the right to write my name in a blue sticker and spin the prize wheel and I got a Bury the Hatchet coozie to take home with me. This location is BYO (both food and alcohol - but no liquor) and they have tables where you can set up food and drinks. Kids are allowed but minimum age is 10. Overall a great place for a date night or time out with friends. We'll definitely be back sometime.

I didn't know what to expect when a friend bought us 4 hours as a try something new date night. We arrived and were welcomed by a super friendly staff. The place was incredibly cool filled with all sorts of activities such as giant Connect 4 and Jenga, checkers boards, original table games, and couches everywhere. We were assigned a "lane" which is basically a large room all to ourselves with hatchets, 2 target boards to throw at (or into), couches, chairs, and a coffee table. One of the staff members came over to us and gave us lessons on how to throw which wasn't as easy as we thought. The more you practice the better you'll get though and the staff member hung around for a while and assessed our throws and offered us tips. She was there whenever we needed assistance or had questions and even taught us some fun scoring games. Its also BYOB and BYO-food so we ordered in some sushi delivery and brought our own wine and beer. The staff brought our food right to us when it arrived at the front. We all can't wait to go back as this is just a fun place to go for something different. Try it. Even if you don't think ax throwing isn't for you there's plenty to do and you just might have a lot more fun than you expect. I sure did!

Going to give a very honest review that reflects several other problems recent lower star reviews…read morehave also said they had. The BEST thing about this place is the staff. In fact we will probably come back here to do another room and we wouldn't bother if it had not been for how friendly the staff is, especially (but not exclusively) someone named Jack. Seriously, whomever owns/runs this place, take note: you need to give this man a raise, because without him and the other people working there, we would never come back. We did the horror/spooky themed room "The Estate" which is fairly high tech in many ways. Lots of really cool digital effects, in theory a very well designed room. Unfortunately our *very first* two puzzles did not function properly. One of the very first doors that is meant to spring open didn't do so; it popped open a crack but we couldn't pull it open easily and given the rules to never force things open, we didn't want to pull it HARD, which it turns out we should have. Also, after solving the very first puzzle, a door that was supposed to spring open did not do so. They have a rule that you cannot ask for a hint for the first ten minutes, so for ten minutes we milled around feeling stupid until we finally asked for a clue that literally spelled out how to solve the next major puzzle - and when we did, a door opened with a prop hidden inside that had *the way to solve the puzzle we just solved* written inside of it. So that was pretty damned frustrating. Certain other things were a bit off here and there, but the deisgn and concept were very immersive so ultimately we let it go and as a duo of only two we managed to finish with ten minutes left (but it would have been more if we hadn't wasted the first ten.) If this place could get it's sh*t together to not have broken puzzles/doors/portions, they'd probably avoid these negative reviews. My advice: come here, give it a try, but say to your gamemaster before you start "I have read some recent reviews saying that some puzzles and traps are having problems. Can you please be very attentive during our experience and make sure nothing goes wrong, and if it does, help to correct it quickly?"

You have an S hook Axe (heaviest out of the three), Hatchet (Typical Axe), or the Tomahawk Axe. Close to the end of the session they bring out a Firemen Axe that you can attempt to throw at the target and is easiest the hardest to maneuver. In addition to the Axe throwing, they have a fun baskettball arcade two person competition game that you all should be familiar from the days of your childhood arcade days and many other fun games such as shuffle board, Jenga, darts etc. This is perfect if you have a large party and are waiting your turn to throw as you can play a fun game while you wait. When I think of Axe throwing I am reminded of the beginning of the movie, "The Bodyguard" with Kevin Costner. There is a scene where someone is trying to recruit him to take on the bodyguard job and he is leisurely lobbing an axe at a wooden stake trying to land a shot. I can now see the allure of such a skillful and cathartic experience. As always people SYOY!!!

With that said, I made a reservation for an early Saturday night about an hour before showing up without issue. westecunkaxe.com/ Checking in at the front counter was very easy and before you know it, you're led to a bay to begin throwing. But, before you start throwing, they have several coaches who are all very nice-funny-gracious that take the time to make sure you know what you're doing so that you can get the most out of the experience. We had done axe throwing once prior at a place in Hershey and in comparison, the coaches here are more involved (in a good way) and that truly does make a difference. A few random notes: The place is small and when it's busy, things are very loud between all of the throwing. overhead music, laughing, etc. No problem hearing the lively vibe outside in the parking lot. Speaking of parking, there is a small lot that is shared with another business. When we showed up, there weren't many spaces left but we found one without issue.
