Now, when I go in, I spend a lot of time looking at cookbooks. This location is the closest one to my house so I definitely go in every so often just to see what they have. They have a lot of great little gifts if you're looking for a present for someone or just to treat yourself. They have a great selection of books and I've always been able to find what I need.. I miss the Starbucks café that was inside but now when I go in, I usually don't spend as much time. I just have a quick look around, get what I need and leave. I'm just happy there are still bookstores. For certain items, I like having an actual physical book in my hand as opposed to having it read to me or trying to read it on my little phone or iPad. Anyway, this is my location of choice and the staff is always friendly and helpful if I need to find something in particular. There are always people there, looking at books in different nooks and crannies. It's a pleasant place to shop and I'll continue to return.

Really easy to find parking as well since this is located in a large plaza. All items (books, merch, decor, etc) are all very organized and most items are quite easy to find. I love their displays in the front where they do themes for different generes and books for different months/seasons. Always inspires me to get something. While I didn't really need to interact with any staff during my last visit, my cashier was so kind and I had a wonderfully smooth checkout experience. There are also lots of books to choose from for how small the store is. They also have a wide variety of artsy gifts. But here's to the bad. However recently I went in to browse the selection of Hobonichis, since they're the only store in the city to have them. For some reason, instead of stocking them on the international release day (like I was originally told), they decided to stock them on September 4th. Disgruntled, but my fiancee promised to come back. So, she did! Came back on September 4th right when they opened, and wouldn't you know they were NOT in stock. In fact, they didn't even have them, they were stuck in customs. My fiancee was also with multiple other people who had been told the same things, all showing up for their Hobonichi release, only to be disappointed. So, here's the issue. Lying to customers about having a product, when you DONT is absolutely wild. Assuring customers it will be in stock on a specific day, then not telling your customers that it can't, is so beyond unprofessional. To me, it felt like a game to Warwicks in an attempt to drum up hype for these highly sought after brand and items. Overall I'm really going to need Warwicks to redeem themselves on this one.

This store is FABULOUS for middle grades with a lot of resource books, posters, supplemental…read morematerials, etc. As a former 6th grade and now current 4th grade teacher, I LOVE Critical Thinkers for my grade levels (Lakeshore has mostly primary materials). CT is by far the only teacher supply store with a good stock of materials for my students. They are also the only store I've found in North County San Diego that has grade appropriate materials for my grade levels. HOWEVER, they're hours are terrible as they are closed on weekends...the only days I can shop! During the week I am in my classroom until 4:30ish and with my own children/family to tend to, I can't make it before closing. I also live about 30 minutes away. Not very convenient for the typical teacher. Also, they're website rarely works and they're phone system tends to be down (I think it's a cell phone?? So it does a ringback tone and sometimes disconnects) I grew up going to Creative Teaching Supplies as a child looking for educational materials and was saddened when they moved to a smaller location (town center owner is terrible...screwed over many small companies in this shopping center). I was hopeful when I became a teacher 9 years ago that I'd be able to use Creative Teaching Supplies/Critical Thinkers for all of my educational needs, but the smaller location, terrible hours, and difficulty accessing the website has been very discouraging. I'm not giving up on them yet as they truly are a great teacher supplier (for ALL grade levels...unlike Lakeshore) and there really are no other stores like them in North County. However, I'm nervous they'll close their doors because of their out-of-the-way location, terrible hours, and unpredictable website/phone. I've had to rely on online ordering a lot lately because I can't get to Critical Thinkers and there are no other suppliers out there for my grade level. I hope things change soon! I love the owner and the staff! I'm hopeful things will pick up as the economy improves...

They walked me back to the children's area and made sure I was in the correct area to wait for story time.
