If there is one reason to not go to TEP, it's their Billing Dept. The treatment itself isn't bad, but nothing special. The therapists and dieticians do what they can with such a population, but I had a bad experience with their M.D. (she was relatively uninterested in anything I had to say.) I also consider the staff to be somewhat inconsiderate, as they allowed therapy pets, but didn't even think to ask if any other patients were allergic to, or afraid of, animals. Aside from your typical treatment issues, the billing process afterwards has been a nightmare. We applied for financial aid, for which we were denied (IMO, they did not consider our complete financial situation and we ended up on a monthly payment plan that was extremely high.) A few months into the payment plan, we were able to pay off our bill. I checked our most recent statement and it was incorrect- it had the wrong balance and hadn't accurately reflected our last two payments. Sensing something was off, I went online to see if the statement/balance there was correct and it wasn't. When I called to get an accurate balance, the lady had no idea how much we actually owed and blamed the incongruency on insurance. Keep in mind, this had already been processed and billed. When I finally got my current balance, I was able to pay it off in full. The balance online was still incorrect and I had to manually charge the accurate balance. A week later, my husband's account was again charged for the monthly payment we had been making, even after we had paid off our bill. Another call was placed to the incompetent billing team and we received another litany of excuses, as well as a 24-48 hour waiting period to receive a refund on the over-payment. read more
