I have followed this place on instagram for over a year and never been. Such a cute storefront with unique gifts! My friend and I went during a power outage in the LACC, so wanted to sit and relax with a glass of wine and appetizer. The area in the back was comfortable and staff friendly. There was an issue with putting our appetizer in, but once addressed it came out promptly. We didn't mind since we were relaxing in the beautiful backyard. I can't wait to take my husband to check it out. read more

Not much to say other than maybe we were there at a bad time because it took 45min just to get our drinks and that was after I went to the cashier asking where they were. And it took an hour to get our sandwiches. I get that there was only 1 person making the meat but an update on time would've been nice. There was another couple sitting at a table nearby who'd been waiting over an hour and just got a refund and left. 60min for a sandwich is unacceptable. read more

We were in the area for Lassen Volcanic National Park during the Thanksgiving break, not realizing that the park was basically shut down for the winter/wet season. (Park roads were closed but we were welcome to park in their lot and walk in to the trails.) That said, there was a lot less traffic in the area, so understandably, The Elegant Farmer had a limited menu so they don't end up with a lot of wasted food. We enjoyed the food and would have liked to sit outdoors, but the property next door had a huge bonfire going and it was very smoky. At first it was tolerable, but then the wind shifted and blew it towards us, so we ended up sitting indoors. This is not a negative review for the business, more so for our timing. We plan on coming back to Lassen Park to enjoy all the hiking once it opens back up in spring/summer, so we look forward to trying The Elegant Farmer again. It's a darling store/eatery, and the outdoor seating is charming. I recommend you try it out if you're in the area. read more

The Elegant Farmer - Pozole and Tri tip sandwich - Home Decor Near Me - Chester, California

We made a sudden stop here on our way to hike Devil's Kitchen Trail -- just needed something to eat -- and wow, this place is magical! The moment you walk in, you're hit with the cozy scent of room sprays, bubble baths, fresh flowers, and candles. It's cute, flowery, plant-filled, and totally homey. Inside, there are handcrafted vases and unique decor pieces -- like a mini boutique-meets-café vibe. The outdoor seating area is surrounded by lush plants, with umbrellas for shade. So peaceful! The highlight: FIREWOOD PIZZA. They literally toss it into the flames and pull it out perfectly crispy and smoky. Delicious! When we visited, there was a big table set up for an art workshop -- women in flowy summer dresses painting and chatting. The whole vibe was like a dreamy summer afternoon. We didn't plan to come here, but it ended up being one of the best stops of our trip. Highly recommend if you're anywhere near Chester read more

This atmosphere is so beautiful and cozy. We sat outside on the green with a 90 degree temperature but it felt nice and comfortable, as we were surrounded by beautifully landscaped flower beds, plenty of shade, and a selection of nice seating areas (complete with outdoor sofas too!) to choose from. It felt homey and welcoming with an added bonus of also being pet friendly. Joe, the owner, brought our dog a water dish and an additional dish for her to eat her kibble from (since it was her dinner time too). The pulled pork sandwiches were deliciously moist and very flavorful. The pasta and potato salads were also very good. This will definitely be a regular dining spot for us when visiting the Chester area. Their lovely gift shop, which you enter on your way to the dining area in back, is also very nice to browse while waiting for your meal. read more

Great place. Stopped in on a whim. Great atmosphere, great food. I had the pastrami sandwich. It was excellent. Staff was super nice and gave us a free artichoke dip appetizer. That's the way you do it. I would highly recommend this place. read more

We were super excited to find this gem of a place. It opened with storefront last year and has added a lovely outside lounge and wine/cafe. New favorite place! We purchased a bunch of boutique products that were impressive in their unique creative and useful variety. Was really enjoyable to peruse and relax. We will most definitely be back on our semi regularly treks from Reno to Redding.... read more

Super cool vibe to grab a tri tip sandwich and a drink. Wife enjoyed her unshackled red wine. A bit pricey (might be the pricy farmer) but it's Chester and the setting is everything! We will be back. read more

I drove past TEF until one evening I said let's try it out!! Now it's one of my favorite gift shops/snack & champagne or wine with friends AND amazing tri-tip sandwiches (Joe's marinade is seriously the best!). They also have pulled pork sandwiches & brick oven pizzas! They have live music & as you can see from their picture on IG & mine the place is adorable!! We are now getting married there in 2026!! All the food & bar goes through Lynn & Joe!! read more

The Elegant Farmer is one of those places that just feels right. My partner and I split the pizza, the tri-tip sandwich, and a barley salad, and everything was on point. The tri-tip sandwich was packed with steak, not filler, and the pizza was hearty and filling. You can really taste the care in each bite. They also have a great drink selection, both non-alcoholic and alcoholic. Whether you're in the mood for something crisp and clean or something with a little kick, you'll find something that works. Prices are more than fair. We spent thirty-five bucks total for dinner for two and left full and happy. You don't find that kind of quality and value too often. The service is always kind and attentive, and you can tell the folks running it care about every part of the experience. It's a true family business, full of warmth. The sense of community here is strong. Locals and visitors are treated like regulars. If you're anywhere near Chester, do yourself a favor and stop by. Great food, great people, and a place that leaves you feeling better than when you walked in. read more

We were biking by and just loved the vibe of the storefront, so we stopped in. Lovely little decor shop at the front of the house that leads to a well designed cafe at the back. Very inviting and comfortable seating area. We ordered a light meal and were amazed by the flavors. Good selection of food and beverages to choose from. The owner was very nice and told us of several special events they routinely host. We wish we frequented Chester, we would be regulars! read more

As a parent who still enjoys the finer things in life, AKA a good glass of wine (or two) in a beautiful setting, I was so excited to find this spot! Upon arrival we experienced welcoming service that made us feel right at home, and they had a great selection of wine, beer, and food. We didn't get a chance to try the food this time, but we plan on coming back soon to have the chance to! Such a beautiful and peaceful spot, can't wait to come back to check out the store front and try some food! read more

Twice we have been here to order food. Both times we were told they have a "limited menu." We ordered pizzas. It took over 40 minutes, both times, to get the pizzas. They were wood-fired, but tasted like smoke more than pizza. We are giving this place a pause and hope they'll get their act together. read more
