Prices are more than fair. We spent thirty-five bucks total for dinner for two and left full and happy. You don't find that kind of quality and value too often. The service is always kind and attentive, and you can tell the folks running it care about every part of the experience. It's a true family business, full of warmth. The sense of community here is strong. Locals and visitors are treated like regulars. If you're anywhere near Chester, do yourself a favor and stop by. That said, there was a lot less traffic in the area, so understandably, The Elegant Farmer had a limited menu so they don't end up with a lot of wasted food. We enjoyed the food and would have liked to sit outdoors, but the property next door had a huge bonfire going and it was very smoky. At first it was tolerable, but then the wind shifted and blew it towards us, so we ended up sitting indoors. This is not a negative review for the business, more so for our timing. We plan on coming back to Lassen Park to enjoy all the hiking once it opens back up in spring/summer, so we look forward to trying The Elegant Farmer again. It's a darling store/eatery, and the outdoor seating is charming. I recommend you try it out if you're in the area.

I grew up in Susanville, but I haven't had to deal with snow in over twenty years. The snow blower was a game changer. The big bonus that I didn't expect to see in Chester was the Big Green Egg smoker brand. I purchased mine in Santa Cruz a few years back, and I love the product.
