The Elegant Farmer is one of those places that just feels right. My partner and I split the pizza,…read morethe tri-tip sandwich, and a barley salad, and everything was on point. The tri-tip sandwich was packed with steak, not filler, and the pizza was hearty and filling. You can really taste the care in each bite. They also have a great drink selection, both non-alcoholic and alcoholic. Whether you're in the mood for something crisp and clean or something with a little kick, you'll find something that works. Prices are more than fair. We spent thirty-five bucks total for dinner for two and left full and happy. You don't find that kind of quality and value too often. The service is always kind and attentive, and you can tell the folks running it care about every part of the experience. It's a true family business, full of warmth. The sense of community here is strong. Locals and visitors are treated like regulars. If you're anywhere near Chester, do yourself a favor and stop by. Great food, great people, and a place that leaves you feeling better than when you walked in.

(Park roads were closed but we were welcome to park in their lot and walk in to the trails.) That said, there was a lot less traffic in the area, so understandably, The Elegant Farmer had a limited menu so they don't end up with a lot of wasted food. We enjoyed the food and would have liked to sit outdoors, but the property next door had a huge bonfire going and it was very smoky. At first it was tolerable, but then the wind shifted and blew it towards us, so we ended up sitting indoors. This is not a negative review for the business, more so for our timing. We plan on coming back to Lassen Park to enjoy all the hiking once it opens back up in spring/summer, so we look forward to trying The Elegant Farmer again. It's a darling store/eatery, and the outdoor seating is charming. I recommend you try it out if you're in the area.

The owner was…read morea young lady who explained that she and her sister had just opened and were building up their shop for the upcoming holidays. She was really friendly and gave me a bit of info about the slime she sells in the store. I honestly have never touched slime, the closest I've gotten is seeing it on IG but I've always wanted to touch it. I know, sounds weird but it's slime... it's made for touching! She showed me 3 different versions which were out on display for customers to experience. There was beginner, intermediate and advanced slime. She explained that the consistencies were different in each one and for younger (not slime aficionados, haha) the beginner was the best option due to its consistency. I decided I'd try all three and could definitely tell the difference. Some were more like slime sand and others ultra silky slime, very cool! Finally! I got to play with what I'd seen on IG for the last 2 years, yayeeeeeee (insert super happy emoji). She also showed me candles that were on display, all the different soaps on the specialty soap table as well as all of the other slimes that came in various colors, scents and with different things to mix into it (glitter, rubber ducks, little toys, etc.) as well as pointed out the different levels of what each slime was. I'll def be back, I just have to figure out what scent and toys I want first, it was a bit of sensory overload for a firstie. When I need a lil slime in my life, this is where I'll get it fo sho :)

This place was huge compared to the other stores in downtown. It was filled with locally-made items and food from the area and county. There were so many unique gifts and items here. We spent over an hour in the store browsing! My friend and I spent over 5 minutes talking to Patty in the food section listening to her talk about each vendor she personally worked with and knew. You could hear the passion in her voice when describing each item. The scones mix, she explained, took the chef over a year to perfect, the hot sauces, she knew every little detail. She was so knowledgeable and welcoming. In fact, all the employees we interacted with were so helpful. I've had Lundberg organic brown rice many times as they used to carry it at my Costco but I had no idea they made rice chips. One of the other employees said she went to high school with the Lundberg's kids! There were so many things I wanted to bring back home but couldn't. It will just warrant another trip up to Chico in the near future! Thank you to the staff here for making us feel so welcome on our first visit ever to Chico!

The tops do not stay closed. I took one back after it leaked because I figured it was a broken top. I was told to pack it in a plastic baggie. She was pretty rude about it too. The next time I packed a new one leaked again. This time everywhere in my luggage. Unfortunately I did not put it in a plastic bag. I'm going to find a new product because even if it was in a baggie it would have all leaked out. So what's the point. I had a few bottles so I threw them out. These are almost $17.00, I'd love to see them make better tops for them. This is the new body soap I use. Top stays closed, no leaks.

I brought just the soap dispenser pump into the store, not the bottle. I even had my receipt on my phone. They both said I needed to bring in the bottle. Why? There is nothing wrong with the bottle, just the dispenser wasn't working. Ridiculous. The soap dispenser pump probably cost the store about 5 cents, and I would have left a happy customer. Neither one cared. Never again will I shop here. You shouldn't either. Manager and cashier's need more customer service training. Take it from me. I worked at Nordstrom for 34 years!!!!
