Mark was a database of knowledge, extremely patient, kind, caring and an all around awesome person. We purchased our fishing licences from him, rented our fishing poles and purchased some bait. He was kind enough to show us around the area on a large display screen in his shop. He provided us with valuable tips on fishing in general and the area in which we had the best shot at catching some fish. Mark is genuine and runs a great shop. With his tips we ended up catching 7 fish. We kept 3 and released 4. Not bad for first timers. I would highly recommend this bait and tackle shop for all your fishing needs.

I washed a pair of trail shoes while on vacation, leaving my insoles out, and then behind at an Airbnb, many miles back in Tahoe. Meanwhile, I had the strange assignment to find insole replacements for my trail runners, which is hard to do in small town California (near Lassen National Park) but was not a problem at Beck's in Susansville. They had a way to measure foot pressure & fixed me up with a great pair of insoles that will have me back out hiking comfortably. Customer service here, both on the phone and in person was absolutely friendly, knowledgable and helpful. For those needing outdoor or comfortable shoes, they have Teva, Born and Berkenstock, to name a few, plus a large selection of sole inserts.

Once ownership changed, the service went downhill. For the past several years, we kept given it another try and another chance - always leaving feeling sad for the old fountain, and the sweet teens that worked hard and were kind, the wait was always worth it. Unfortunately the owner, and this isn't a one time thing, but every year since opening, our family and friends have repeatedly been treated rudely. I used to think maybe she was having a bad day...but it keeps happening. You end up feeling like you're in the way, unwanted, or wasting her time. I used to think it won't last ....they will be out of business.....it's 2026 and it's still open. This is the 1st year we didn't go. :( The recipes are different - shakes are smaller and you get treated poorly. Might be better off going to Jeffroes produce for a shake, or pine shack frosty. I hope things will improve at the Rusty, but for now it's not worth dealing with the owner. I hope she gets better. The feedback is very consistent. RIP Lassen Drug.

This shop in particular has become one of my regular stops over the past few years, and I've found some really cute shirts and other treasures here. This time, I had the chance to spend a little time chatting with the lovely owner, and what a wonderful lady she is! She shared that she's Greek and talked about her family, her son who lives in Susanville, and her sisters and all of their delicious Greek recipes. You could see the twinkle in her eye as she talked about her Greek heritage and family--it was really sweet. You can also tell how much pride and joy she takes in her shop. It's filled with so many beautiful and unique little items, and everything feels thoughtfully chosen. I definitely recommend stopping in when you're on Main Street. Pick up something special, take a look around, and if you get the chance, have a little chat with the owner.
