This is a small boutique hotel at Gates Circle downtown. My boyfriend surprised me with a room this past Saturday. I was familiar with the area but had no idea the hotel was there. It only have about 8 rooms total and we stayed in The Deco on the second floor west wing. The hotel doesn't have a check desk, instead they text you before check-in with a code for the main entrance and your room. This code is unique to you for your stay and makes it easy to go in and out and not have to remember a key, or even your phone! It didn't seem like the hotel was full, and although there were other cars in their parking lot, we never saw any other guests. The hotel does provide things that you may normally ask staff for, like a wine bottle opener, spare toothbrush, snacks in the room as well as in the atrium, including granola bars and popcorn which we had as a late night snack. The rooms were clean and well lit, including two lamps that you could change the bulb colors on with a remote which was fun. A nice evening away at a cute little hotel that is a converted mansion!

The Edward is s special place conveniently located to all the Buffalo has to offer. The rooms are magnificent and the decor and appeal are something you won't find in a commercial hotel of any kind. The staff is pleasant everything is done as if you're staying at someone's home. The provide you with a code and you do your thing ! We've stayed a couple of times on visits to Niagara Falls and just this past weekend for Sebastian at Key Bank followed up by the Bills vs Chiefs yesterday. From football to live shows , recommendations of coffee shops this is your place to stay ! 5 stars should be 10 !!!

Iron Works is an ideal venue in a lot fo way- not too big, not too small, and the perfect place for an intimate experience with a band you enjoy. Most recently we saw Caligula Blushed for their first visit to Buffalo. My other half has been a fan of The Smiths since forever, but we have stopped seeing Morrissey in concert. This was the next best thing to seeing Johnny Marr in concert. Great show, good crowd, not too crowded, and people were actually there to see the show unlike when we saw Nick Lowe at Iron Works and some people would not stop talking!! Post-pandemic, but also anytime, I have to say how incredibly wonderful it is to get fresh air during a show. The garage style door by the stage was open letting in some natural night and lots of fresh air on a cool night, which is really perfect for a show. I'm over crowded, stuffy, hot, and dark. The opening leads to an adorable patio with lots of tables, chairs, and string lights. There's a platform with seating and a little balcony with seating. There are lots places to set your drink whole dancing as the platform and pillars all have ledges. There are two selve-serve water coolers, which is also great to see. I tried a summer cocktail - a Loganberry Dirty Shirley, which was super sweet but that's what it's designed to be. A Coke was $3 and the cocktail specials were $10. Mocktails are $8 and there are other n/a offerings as well, along side beer, liquor, and what have you. They have a garden burger and fries on the menu, in addition to other meat and cheese foods. Tickets to this show were $12, which is so reasonable for a night out. This is more fun than going to the movies and should definitely be a go to if you want to get out of the house. Fresh air, water, seating...all this sets Iron Works apart. If you haven't been, go, and of it's been awhile, go back. My other half was reluctant to go out but was so glad he did.

There's also plenty of offstreet parking for the tenants. It isn't covered. There one and two bedroom apartments here. The way they reuse the reclaim space is really nice. The spreads included a chopped olive tapas, a apricot mostarda and a caramelized onion dish. These could be enjoyed on the toast points or along with the roasted garlic goat cheese. There was also a cash bar. The event was a way for several merchants to display their wares, among them Blue Table Chocolates, Tommyrotter Distillery, Rebel Ride and several artisans. The wait staff was great, replenishing the various platters and serving trays of tasty mini-potato pancakes and boneless chicken wing bites throughout the evening. They also picked up plates, cans and bottles, taking them back to the kitchen for disposal vs. there being many unsightly trash cans throughout the room. This also added to the event, making the room more attractive.

I recently attended the holiday market where a number of the vendors that make the Foundry home were open and many visiting crafters. Many if not all of these vendors host a class or two that for a reasonable price you can get hands on to learn a new skill. So far I've taken 3 and I can tell you these classes are small, intimate and really give you a hands on experience that really makes the class worth it. Some of these resident creators include a company that makes pucks and baseballs into bottle openers, a metal worker, glass blower, jewelry maker, a wooden frame bicycle maker and a man that makes bird feeders that resemble Frank Lloyd Wright windows. Most of them have etsy or other stores to browse what is available for purchase. For me, The Foundry is about creation, creativity and the access to be able to taken part in it. To work with skilled craftsmen, hear their stories, get tips while making something in the process. So check out a class or 10, it's worth it!

This time around I decided to go with the Limonado and the Yuzu Rice Lager, and both were excellent. The Limonado was especially memorable. I ordered the Chicken Mac & Cheese, and not only was it delicious, but the portion size was huge for the price. Plenty of flavour, plenty of food, and exactly what I was looking for before a busy day. Service was another highlight. Justin was tending bar and was awesome to chat with. Friendly, welcoming, and helped make the visit even more enjoyable. Between the great beer, tasty food, generous portions, and excellent service, this place left a great impression on me.
