Dylan was very attentive and that was a plus. But man. Prices way out stripping what you're getting. I ordered the Classic V for 22 bucks. And yup, I knew I was getting a beyond meat burger and that's fine. Bun was so stale it fell apart as I was eating it. Though, the fries were good so that's a plus. For reference, the plain burger is 15 dollars. So a 7 dollar upcharge for beyond meat. For more reference, 12 oz of beyond meat at Kroger is 6 dollars. I get that restaurants feel comfortable ripping off vegetarians, but if its that hard, I have a pretty good veggie burger recipe you can use. Either way. We'll still come back because it's what's here, but I wish they'd just care more about their food and customers. read more

I was driving from Lynchburg back to our Gettysburg address and found the Edge using an internet search for restaurants. After what seemed like an eternity of my Tundra climbing a mountain, my GPS described that I had arrived. The signage wasn't particularly clear, but after climbing a flight of stairs and seeing ski lifts, I noted the designation for The Edge. I didn't see many cars down below even though the internet said it was open late, but I was relieved to find them open. I was cheerfully greeted and permitted to choose my own (window) seat where I perched myself pronto. I ordered the 4 bean chili which was served in a jiffy and which was scrumptious (I'd not eaten since breakfast and was here at 4pm on a Saturday. The price was a bit hefty, but I don't mind paying for quality. Dessert wasn't an option as I had another 4 hours before getting home. The restaurant is spacious and quiet, and the music was from the 70s which is up my alley. Botton line: high quality in a great location atop a mountain! read more

So first of all, shout out to our amazing waitress! Both times we came in! We loved her! On top of everything, super sweet, and we couldn't rave about her more! Give that girl a raise! She's even in our pic below! Second, the food was good! Good good! We always do apps, especially when traveling, and we had a few of them. The nachos. The tots. The cheese curds (do the onion gravy with them!). The drinks were on point! We even ordered the nachos and curds our second time in. The rest of the staff was great too! Our last night in a bunch of the staff members were having dinner together, for what looked like some of them leaving for the season to go back home, and I had the pleasure of snapping a few group shots for them. Due to Yelp reviews, we didn't expect to be blown away. Google reviews however, paint a completely different picture. Interesting... We were seated right away and greeted by our waiter with a smiling face. She was super nice! Service was very speedy as well! The issue was the food smh. It's really not that hard to make fries, wings and chili. We literally thought we played it safe by just ordering simple items. We asked for the wings to be fried extra crispy but yet they came out well UNDERCOOKED. Idk if she got the order wrong or what but the fries came out OVERCOOKED. The fries were basically potato chips. Chili was basic, no flavor. I added a bunch of Tabasco sauce to try to dress it up. Pickleballer drink was listed as a popular item but I was underwhelmed. It's just pickle juice mixed with alcohol. Well it's safe to say that it was a one and done for us... But this type of establishment will thrive simply because of its location. Didn't have high expectations since this place is getting 99% of its customers out of convenience, and it settled right in with what I was expecting The pros: staff was great and fast. The beer was flowing great. If you're coming here just for drinks, it's a good time. The windows also give a good view of the slopes. The cons: the food. I ordered the salmon, which was cooked well, but very small. Had to borrow some fries from a friend even though I paid $25 for my plate. I counted 3 cauliflower pieces in the liquid under my salmon. Not something I'd recommend for its price. My fiancé got the burger, as did the rest of the party. Those looked pretty standard, so play it safe here. read more

When I come to Wintergreen during ski season, you can't get into The Edge, but summer is a different story. We're lucky that we have friends who own property in the area and they frequently invite us up for the weekend. We usually go up to Wintergreen during ski season but decided to go hiking in the area. After our morning hike, we decided lunch was in order and debated driving down the mountain, but decided to just eat at The Edge. I was game since I hadn't eaten here before. Wintergreen is in the middle of a refurbishment, and I think it's going to be awesome when it's finished. I hope The Edge is on the list. Right now, it's pretty tired. The menu has some appetizers, sandwiches, a few salads, burgers...you get it. The menu is in line with an Applebee's, although they do dress things up a bit, like adding kimchi to a-turkey burger. For my meal, I ordered a Bloody Mary and a kimchi burger with a side salad. The Bloody Mary was just okay, but it did have interesting garnishes. I ate the burger patty without the bun and quickly figured out they use preformed frozen patties (I think the same as their fast food place). It was just okay. The side salad was good and big enough for 2 people to share. I had requested the salad instead of fries, but our server just added the salad to our order. It was fine...I gave the fries to my daughter. I don't know if I'd eat here again. I might have drinks and an appetizer, but I didn't really care for the food. read more

My husband and I enjoyed a quick lunch at the edge before exploring the Wintergreen Resort area. With covid a line forms about 20 minutes before the doors open and there is limited capacity so I would arrive at least 20 minutes before doors open if you want to be seated immediately. The view was lovely, our server was excellent, and the food was okay. The food was very much bar food type food, but it does the trick when you've been skiing and need a quick bite and a beer. I wish the food was just a little higher quality but this is definitely not a bad spot and the service was great. read more

Not sure why all of the horrible reviews. We had a very nice experience and dinner. Pandemic time so we decided on a weekend in Wintergreen. Not much in the area in normal times, and less so now. So we called in our order, picked it up, and ate in our rented condo. Service, from the little we could tell via phone and fast pick-up, is phenomenal. Ordering over the phone was really easy, even with a few changes to their mains. And picking up was equally nice and pleasant. Only complaint, which I have to complain about for ALL carry-out nowadays, is that by the time we get our food back to our condo/home, it's just not as fresh as eating in the restaurant itself. Not the restaurants' fault --- just a sign of the times. The food is very good. We grabbed a variety of burgers and such. Can't complain. If we get to the Wintergeen area again we'll most likely order from here again. Or ... hopefully, eat in. read more

Pretty decent food for an after-ski spot at Wintergreen. The key these days is having a bit of patience as these places are having staffing issues, and that will improve your experience tremendously. Had the 'Frenchy' Burger, perfectly cooked and seasoned, a salmon entree was nicely done. We shared an order of nachos- my tip is to ask for shredded cheese and not the 'cheese sauce'- they happily made the switch. Good VA craft beers on tap, cocktails were on point. Fun crowd, some good live music. A bit pricey but they are kind of the only game in town for dinner up top here. Ate lunch here after a morning of skiing. I had the fish sandwich, which was pretty good, and we shared the roasted Brussels sprouts as a table. We had members of our group coming in in waves, so it was great that we were able to be served as people joined us. The waiter was friendly and the food was filling and reasonably priced. The only issue was when we were finished--it took almost 20 minutes to get the check and get my card back. In season the food is great, the service here is always very good (servers from all over the globe! Very cool!). Bartenders are excellent and attentive. Loses one star because off season the food quality is more hit or miss, though recently (2021) it is more of a hit, maybe they have a new chef? (I live on the mountain so I have been goin here off and in for ... 16 years. Jeez time flies!). Give it a shot. You do have to walk a bit to get to the restaurant, stairs and uphill involved. Handicapped parking is available though,mans that way you would go through the lodge to get there and then no incline or stairs, of course. The views are spectacular, by the way. read more

We came in for lunch after snowboarding, we were seated right away. Our waitress had the I don't give a damn look, she was litterly staring us down while she was taking out order which was kinda funny. The menu didn't look impressive at all, I stuck to the simplest thing you can order in hopes that they won't mess up my order. I ended up with their edge burger and the hub got their chilli and chicken tenders. The burger was dried and burnt just a little, I get the charcoaling effect but this was burnt. The only thing that tasted great was the French fries. My hubby's chili looked meh and his chicken tenders looked alright. The coleslaw that came with it looked nasty and watered down. Then my three amigos rolled in to join us and the waitress took forever to come to our table. When she did finally came she was staring them down and they noticed too lol. Stayed in the Wintergreen area and not much is open on the mountain on a Sunday night. Ordered takeout through the Wintergreen app and it was super easy and ready much faster than expected. Only issue was the app didn't have beverages to order from the menu. I'm sure I could've called but oh well. Food was OK pub fare, a little overpriced for what it is. Burgers were middle of the road. Catfish po' boy was tasty (bonus points for bacon). Hard to figure out where exactly to park if you're doing takeout to bring back to your condo. Again, probably should have called instead of using the app. Interior seemed to have tables well separated and capacity limited for Covid precautions. *2.5 STARS* The problem with staying in Wintergreen is that there's just a few restaurants if you're staying on the mountain or at the resort. The resort has 3 main places to eat basically, and maybe more in the winter. There's like less than 10 restaurants within 10 miles away. We came here 2 days ago in June which is the off-season from what I can tell because it is a ski resort. Honestly I'm surprised they keep the restaurants open in the summer at all because we saw very few people here during our stay. You can kind of tell the resort is somewhat struggling with money and probably needs the little money it makes in the summer and spring. There were very little people in The Edge when we got there. Less than 15 customers. It seats about 200 I'd say at max capacity. It has a nice bar and lots of flat screens to watch the game. It's also located at the edge of the mountain and has a beautiful view especially during the sunset. There were 2 waitresses working and both appeared to be new and training for the winter. From what I understand in the winter there's skiiers in line out the door to get a seat in the restaurant because it's right next to the slopes. Our waitress was really sweet although inexperienced which was fine and understandable. We ordered 3 salads, a pot pie, a chicken parm sandwich, a chicken club sandwich and a chicken parm dinner. I was a little disappointed that our salads didn't come out before our dinner which is usually customary. And, with only 10 people eating in the restaurant it took our food longer than I expected to come out. About 30 minutes. Again, I assume because it's the off-season they're using as little amount of staff as possible and training staff for ski season. Maybe the chef was inexperienced and in training like the servers. My chicken parm was average as I expected for a $20 price tag. The bread crumb crust on the chicken was a little over cooked and burnt. It was a really thick chicken breast, so I imagine the chef was worried about fully cooking the chicken and burnt the outside. I much rather prefer my chicken parm to have a breast cut down the middle into two thin cutlets. I think in that case it's easier to cook the chicken thoroughly without burning the outside. The best chicken parm dishes I've had seem to all be cooked that way. The noodles in the dish were just regular thick spaghetti noodles. There was a lot of cheese in the dish- like globs of mozzarella. It was weird because the globs would randomly show up in random bites of food and in other bites there would be no cheese at all. There was probably too much mozzarella in the dish as well for it to be considered a good rendition. Again, didn't expect it to be authentic or amazing. It's a ski restaurant in a resort in the middle of Virginia. The marinara sauce was watery- almost like the chef was in a rush and didn't properly dry the noodles. It had an alright flavor to it- comparable to something out of a can or jar. Just a little bland and nothing special really. There was a lot of food in the dish though. The rest of the party seemed to enjoy their meals. My uncle said he enjoyed the pot pie but it wasn't worth the $15 price tag, plus it was a smaller serving. The club sandwich looked average and nothing special for $15. The Cesar salad was pretty good, a little too much dressing. The lettuce was fresher than I expected though. For a side salad it was $6 which I thought was way overpriced. It wasn't a fancy Cesar salad either, tasted like something from a regular grocery store salad kit bag. Overall, it was an average experience. Again, you can't expect much going in there, it's meant to be a middle priced restaurant made for skiiers coming off of the slopes which are literally right next door. I'm sure most of them are just hungry and don't know the difference or care. They definitely take advantage of you as far as pricing goes. They can hike up the prices for an average meal because they're one of the only restaurants on the mountain LOL! If you're staying in wintergreen you'll probably end up eating here one night if you aren't into cooking. It's location is great if you're skiing or just staying on the mountain because it's close. Expect an average meal and you won't be disappointed too bad; at least you'll enjoy the view. read more

I've been a couple times now, and I'm very appreciate of the vegan menu items and the vegan labeling. This place also offers a great view and a friendly, helpful staff. Most recently I tried one of their two vegan burgers. The burger so resembled meat in taste and texture that I had my meat-loving father-in-law examine it and try it, and he was convinced they served me an actual beef burger by accident. My waiter politely took the burger and the friendly manager came by, but it turns out they just serve the Beyond Burger which has beets in it and makes the patties red and look/taste very similar to their beef counterpart. Even though it was my mistake and my original burger was vegan as advertised, they brought me a new one (it was just as realistic as the first one!). Anyway, if you're looking for a plant-based burger patty that tastes like the original, I'd recommend their vegan burger! The fries on the side were also good. The manager often stops by and you can tell they definitely work hard to make sure parties are satisfied with their meal and experience. There is a very odd smell when you walk in. The poor staff is slammed and understaffed. This is the ONLY restaurant with a sit down bar during the busiest week of the year at this resort which is mind boggling. I would highly suggest skipping this place for lunch or dinner, and recommend driving down the mountain to one of the breweries or the amazing french Basic Necessities. For the price paid for food, the quality was low and the smell was foul. Beer was good and affordable. Bartenders were great. And the bar ran out of coca cola by 3 pm....???? read more

Great views and location. Food is trying to be like Applebee's but not as good. Decor is fine. Nice servers but maybe the most disorganized wait staff I have ever seen. Every time I come here it takes 15 min to have a server come over and ask for a drink order, while multiple servers are standing in the entrance looking out at the tables. Not sure who is in charge of organizing this place but they need someone new.... read more
