One of the worst customer service experiences I have had anywhere, with interactions mostly with…read morethe Owner and General Manager. From the moment I walked in the door, these two were rudely demanding I follow a bunch of rules that were inadequately posted with signage in various locations around the space. Most of their rules seem aimed at driving up sales, not with friendly customer service or reasonable prices or good food smells, but with rudely enforced restrictions on the use of artificially limited space. I had a young child and a younger baby. We came for a birthday party. I had a bit of cake and ice cream to share with the baby. He demanded that we not use the plentiful supply of empty picnic tables to eat, but instead insisted those spaces were only for the consumption of food items purchased off the over-priced menu, above and beyond the cost paid by the hosts of the party. Birthday cake and ice cream, they said, could only be eaten in the tiny (walk-in closet sized space) with one picnic table that had been rented for the party, filled with kids celebrating. I asked to see the signage about this rule and was pointed to one small sign on the opposite side of the large and mostly unoccupied dining area full of tables. I mentioned to the owner that this was inadequate signage and that I would be leaving a review about my experience. I added 'good day', as I walked away from him and GM. He followed me back to the other side of the dining area and threatened to throw me out. He further asked if I would like to be escorted out by the sheriff. I asked what I had done (sir). He replied, "You complained. If you don't like it here, you can leave." I chose not to confront him further just then, but after the party asked the GM if there was a posted rule/sign about how you can be thrown out if you politely complain. She responded that, yes, it was all about whether or not they like your attitude (no sign, apparently). Too much flak, or banter, or them just not liking you, and she frequently had thrown paying customers out of the place. The implication was clear that this could be me at any moment. I asked her to give a precise definition of the over-the-line behavior and she told me I was being threatening and would have to leave. She then moved between me and my daughter and my shoes and my diaper bag so that I had to carefully go around her to avoid any physical contact. She followed me and threatened to call the police. I pulled my phone from my diaper bag and stated I would record the rest of the encounter. She turned and walked away after informing me she was calling the sheriff. I gathered my kids and my things, thanked the party organizers, and left the business. As I was leaving in my car, the owner came out to photograph me, my car, my license plate, and tell me he would be pressing all charges possible; that it was not his first 'Rosemary Dance'. All of this occurred outside the building, in the parking lot, in front of my kids, as I was driving away, and I caught it on a video too large for Google to let me share here. This family-oriented play place is toxic, unfriendly, and unsafe to play because of the behavior of the owner and GM. Two sides to every story? More like a room full of people made uncomfortable by their rapid and threatening escalation to wasting peace officers' time plus many negative Google reviews with stories that range from hilarious to disturbing. 0/5 stars

I stopped in the climbing gym to utilize their weight/fitness area. Someone promptly helped me get checked in and paid for a day pass. It seems like they have some type of children's program happening before or at their opening hour so the gym was full of kids but mostly kept to one end of the wall. The wall had so much variety for its size - overhangs, bouldering routes, crack holds to simulate crack climbing, top rope and a cave like feel to part of it. The fitness gym and weight area is small but has plenty of equipment. I shared the space with 2 others and it was tight. However we were all friendly and understanding of the space and coexisted well. I would definitely return when in the area again.

If we lived in the area I would definitely be doing a membership. Lots of different route options, 2 auto-belay systems, bouldering opportunities all over, even a climbing treadmill which I didn't even know was a thing. When we were leaving the owners were changing up some hands holds and you can tell they do that often to keep things interesting for the regulars. Highly recommend!

There are 2 companies that have concessions on the Grand Teton and in preparation for the trip did a lot of research. The 2 main differences between companies relate to the high camps and the trip duration. First, JHMG does a 3 day trip - one day to high came, a summit day, and then the 3rd day packing out.The other company runs two-day trips - one day to high camp and the second is summit and back to trailhead. The hike into campo and down from camp is not exceedingly hard, but when you try to pack that onto the tail end of a summit bid that starts before 4AM, you can understand how great it was to get back to camp and have a great meal and celebrate your accomplishment with your guides and other clients in an amazingly beautiful setting. The JHMG camp is about 40 minutes lower than the other camp which makes for a slightly longer summit day, but it is also more sheltered from the weather and on balance seemed earns far higher marks. Second, the high camp includes a communal tent for meals and socials but it also has tents set up with sleeping bags and pads already up there and ready for you. All you have to do is cary a sleeping bag liner. The other company just has the communal tent where everyone sleeps together, eats, social, etc. The thought of sleeping with 12 snoring people I just met at 11k feet is pretty unappealing. Food was plentiful, hot and prepared by the guides. The office is well run, with great information and responsive communication in the booking process. The guides were extremely professional and were all AMGA certified. I've done lots of hiking and a little climbing, but never the two together so this was a new experience. I felt really safe and even felt bad for some of the solo crews out there that seemed underprepared. We were fortunate to have warm weather, but if there had been any rain/snow/ice/high wind I would certainly want the peace of mind of being connected to such a well run guide service to make sure I got home safe and sound. It is clear that Jackson Hole Mountain Guides has really got their operation dialed in and I wouldn't hesitate one bit in recommending them as the go-to service for Grant Teton trips.

We met our guide Mike and the assistant/training guide Pete at the base of the tram in Teton Village. There was one other person in snow school that day, a female who was going to summit the Grand that week, also with Exum. After introductions and gear distribution (helmets, ice axes, and crampons), we took the tram up. We had to hike about 2 miles left after getting off the tram to get to a snow covered high slope where we could practice on. That's when the "fun" began. Let me summarize: Snow school was TOUGH, both physically and mentally. I guess because of the somewhat benign-sounding name it conjured up images of making snow angels and snowball fights for me, but it was definitely not like that. All day we learned valuable alpine hiking skills -- e.g. traversing across steep snow, walking straight up and down steep snow, stopping a slide with hands and feet, and of course, self arrest -- feet downhill on stomach, feet downhill on back, head downhill on stomach (the hardest for me), and head downhill on back. This was tough and tiring stuff. But definitely valuable at the same time, all three of us felt much more comfortable by the end of the day. We also learned proper crampon use (even though we did not take crampons on our hike with us). We were spent at the end of the day, and the 2 mile mostly uphill hike back to the tram was brutal. But it was all worth it, definitely worth it. We had a safe and uneventful TCT backpacking trip starting the next day, and I honestly don't know if we'd have been able to complete it had we not done snow school with Exum. Mike and Pete were both excellent, good teachers, austere yet nice, and patient. I highly recommend Exum for those new to alpine hiking and mountaineering.

As a beginner to climbing, I was really looking forward to a motivating and supportive experience…read moreon my Grand Teton climb with Exum and our guide, Aili. Day 1 went well, with the climbing portion being successful, and Aili was happy with our (my husband's and my) climbing skills. I was upfront with my guide from the start, explaining that I prefer to hike at my own pace, which was a major reason we opted for a private guide. However, from the very beginning of the hike, I felt judged and had to constantly deal with negative comments (e.g., "come back next year," "we can go back and try to do some other climb"), implying I wouldn't make it and that my pace wasn't going to work. The guide informed me that if I couldn't complete a 5,000 ft elevation gain in 5 hours, I wouldn't be allowed to attempt the summit. I requested the option to at least hike to the Lower Saddle and allow my husband to continue to the summit, but I was told this wasn't possible. The guide insisted that with my pace, by the time we'd reach the saddle, I'd be too tired for a summit attempt, and it would be a long day. All I received were reasons why it wouldn't work, and not once did I hear suggestions on how to make the best out of this attempt. Eventually, I had to turn back halfway to at least allow my husband to get a fair attempt at the summit. The guide never attempted to understand my potential and was very demotivating throughout the experience. I'm not a novice hiker. This year alone, I've hiked the Manitou Incline , Barr Trail up to Barr Camp, a 13er in Colorado, and just two months ago, I summited Kilimanjaro. I was fully prepared to endure a long day and give my best effort, but I wasn't even given a fair chance. The overall experience was disheartening. This is my second year with Exum attempting this climb, and it's clear that Exum and their guides are not suited for beginners who are looking forward to a more personalized and life-changing experience. I do have to give credit for teaching instructions.
