I enjoy going to soak at heise, however I wish it were based on reservation for the hot pools like it is at miracle so it's not overcrowd! It's frustrating going and you are shoulder to shoulder with people. Also, I wish they would drag the pools and hot tub area weekly again like miracle hot springs and actually cleaned. I noticed the scrum on the tiles on the side of the pool and hair clumps floating around. Super gross if you as me. read more

We stayed here for two nights, tent camping. Bob took us to our spot and made sure we were familiar as to where the restrooms were, and gave us tips for the next day. I truly loved it there, I used the hot springs and hot pool, my husband did the zip line. We hiked and had the best pizza ever in the restaurant by the golf course. I highly recommend this place. Bob was excellent, we saw him all the time working hard and greeting people. Very pleasant sleep too in our tent. read more

We were on a road trip, and I really wanted to hit up a hot spring along our journey. Thankfully, Heise Hot Springs came up in my search and it was only a 20-minute detour that was absolutely worth the visit! Hey...when in Idaho! My husband and I took our toddler here. I was only expecting the hot pools, but I was surprised that our admission included access to the big summer pool! In the summer pool area, there's also a fun toddler splash area that my son loved! I'm glad we took the time to let him play over on that side for a while. We didn't go into the big, cooler pool but I did feel the water and it felt pretty warm too! It was too crowded in that pool, so we didn't bother. However, there was a massive waterslide too! The waterslide is extra, so we didn't pay for that, but it did look fun! Over on the hot pool side, there's a small pool that's fed by the mineral springs. Sadly, I thought the other pool on this side would also be a natural hotspring, but it's not. The hot spring pool is pretty small and it's very hot. I enjoyed it, but the hot swimming pool was a better temperature on this very hot summer day! My husband and I and our son loved the hot swimming pool which was quite empty. After our swim, it was really nice to take a hot shower, perfect for our camping road trip! This is my favorite kind of detour! A soak in a hot spring, followed by a clean, hot shower! I was thankful the showers had curtains too! I only wish we had longer to spend here, but alas, we were only passing through! If we find ourselves out that way again, we wouldn't hesitate to come again. read more

I love heise when I'm local. The hot pools are small and can get crowded. Lava hot springs is one of my favorites in winter due to its size. In the summer heise has the cold pool which is big and the slide the kids love. There's also nearby picnic tables (for rent I think), zip lines, rock climbing, and the snake river is right there. In the winter heise is great when you beat the crowd and get it to yourself. They recently updated showers and lockers which are very nice now. Kinda a bummer they open at 2pm. read more

The soak was as good as I can ever remember but it was a challenge to get in. I understand safety and lighting and we wanted to follow protocol but I think they assumed the storm would linger for five hours so they drained the hot pool a little too prematurely. After many of us persisted and the lightning was gone they got the green light to reopen. Please take our money so we can get a soak lol. There was eventually enough in the bottom to get submerged and it was very hot, which is how I like it so alls we'll that ends well. Some of the staff kinda seemed more interested in closing up shop and getting home early than they did about the lightning but they were friendly enough. The disorganization the anxiousness to send us away from some was the only reason they get four instead of five stars. I do highly recommend this place, very relaxing and therapeutic. read more

Yesterday was our first time. We took a group of 6ppl, plus my 19mon old. Brought our own towels, so we didn't have I rent. They have: -1 warm pool -1 cold pool -1 hot pool -1 awesome slide ($1 for 3 rides & $8 for unlimited) -rentable towels/life vests/etc. Can't bring your own food, but if you pay for a picnic table, they provide you food(...is that correct?) So much fun Con: -smells like eggs/sulfur near the cold pool. -lifeguards will occasionally take a 5min break, so everyone needs to get or of the pool (sucks when it's windy ahha) read more

As a pool resort, I give this place a 3-4 stars. They have 3 pools varying in temperatures. The cool pool is oddly the least enjoyable. It runs in the 80s but the fun police (aka life guards and militaristic rules) make this end a waste of time. They have a large deep end that is primarily empty...because there's no fun allowed. Now walk a few steps into the hot pools area and its old school 80s free for all. You can use floaties and play catch, horse around...what? Fun? Yep its still allowed here and this is the side that I remember from being a kid in the 80s. Glad some things don't change. They've added a lot to Heise including a pizza parlor (skip unless you want that cardboard blah kinda pizza), zip lines (kids insist this was the best part of the trip), and killer old town fireworks. When i say fireworks, anyone can bring any kind of fireworks and light off in the field. There's ample grassy area behind the fence to watch the pyromaniacs and then the display Heise puts off is epic... Fills the sky and directly over where you sit. Awe struck. read more

A lot of the reviews are pretty negative on yelp but what I love about Heise is its fun, straight forward, and the food is amazing. What most people don't understand is that its not "run down" but a historic part of the area. Its has a very interesting history and the story of how the hot spring was found is also a great story. When I go to heise I go to have some fun swimming, hit the waterslide a few times, dip in the hot spring, and have a heise burger with a milkshake. If your going there expecting the four seasons you will be disappointed but if you understand how special of a place heise is then you'll appreciate the experience. The Big Rock campground is shady and quiet during the week but on Thursday's the park begins to fill with locals for family get togethers. This is a really nice and convenient place for these gatherings but the park becomes VERY crowded and at times quite active and noisy. Also, there doesn't seem to be any enforcement of park rules concerning 4 wheelers and motorcycles or RVs coming in after dark. We were here for 11 nights and had to move twice because of prior bookings. While this wasn't a major issue for us it was frustrating to see the spots we had to leave remain empty for days at a time. The trees are nice and provide great shade but they block any ability for satellite tv reception. Antenna reception and cell service is spotty at best. For travelers I wouldn't recommend staying here for more than a night or two and definitely not over the weekend. read more

Ok, but not great. Wish I had done a bit more research in the area because now that I am looking, there are better places in the same area along the Snake River. The hot springs were nice, the improved changing area for the hot pool was nicely remodeled. We tried not to spend too much time in there and away from people as much as possible. We rented and RV site as well as a cabin. The Rv site with electric was in a nice shady and grassy spot, the cabin was way up on a hill, quite a hike from our Rv. On a long road trip it was nice to have some privacy from the kids and take a real shower so that made it worth the $140 we paid for both. The area is spectacularly beautiful and worth a stop on your way through to Jackson. read more

Much of the hot springs & swimming areas of their property are rundown and filthy. Photos on Yelp show some of that, but it truly is worse that pictured. The owners seem not to care. And the golf course & driving range are a joke. It's a tourist trap. Reinvest some money into your property and make it a better experience for your customers. Until then I won't be back. read more

It's pretty evident that this place doesn't feed on repeat business... their sole purpose is to pork you for as much as they can while they've got you because you probably are not going back. To start off, I have three brothers and we all got together for a little bro golf sesh, and one of my brothers just recently separated his shoulder, and was obviously not playing. They still made him pay or else he could not walk with us through the course. As we were beginning to tee off, they sent a sweet a little worker to come and audit our clubs (since we consolidated our clubs and balls into one bag) and find that we only had 2 putters and not 3. So we had to go in and rent another putter for the price of $6. We were all excited to indulge in some pizza afterwards, because we remember them having some pretty tasty pizza. After our initial experience in customer service, they lost our business in eating there after and we opted to head back to Idaho Falls and eat somewhere there. In summary, it's a fun little course and in a cool little environment, but their willingness to poorly treat paying customers and their greed to milk them for all they can is enough to not care to go back. It's only a matter of time before they start charging per stroke over par. read more

This Hot Spring probably has to be my favorite Hot Spring that I have been to in a very long time. I loved the three different pool options, and the staff was friendly and helpful especially because this was my first time visiting this Hot Spring. If you are visiting the Aspen Grove Inn campground the 1 mile detour to this Hot Spring is totally worth it! read more

Super fun! My kids don't meet the height requirement for the water slide down the street from our house so when we went on vacation in Idaho our friends found this place. Lol, we all had a great time hanging out and going down the slides. We brought a small propane grill and stuff to BBQ. We set up outside of the pool and enjoyed sitting by the river during lunch. This is a nice pool resort. You have the choice of one hot pool, one warm, and one cold. You can also rent things you need. There's a slide for the kiddos. Golf course. I think the facilities could be a bit cleaner, but other than that I was happy with our stay. read more

Store, restaurant, and pools. $10 for spectators but you get $5 back when you leave... The slide is LONG and awesome. Stay up on your shoulder blades and heels & you go much faster! The several camp grounds are spreed apart down the noises busy road isolated and not by the river or resort. You have to drive to get to pools and restaurant. If you're going to stay here ask for a spot behind the office by the river. read more

Went there for the first time in august and spent most of our time in the warm play pool. Not worth the cost, and will not be returning. Dirty, tiny bathrooms. Tried both play pools but just within the few hours we were there we had to exit both pools for separate "fecal incidents". You have to stay out of the pool for 40 min. so the water can be chemically treated. Pools are VERY crowded in the summer. If you want some space and don't want to "swim" (you are not really swimming, just kind of standing there because it's too crowded) with 50 other people (yes, in a small pool, about hotel size), don't bother going there. It was so crowded I was kicked by an older child, and one of my kids was shoved. 2 of our kids got sick (vomit, diarrhea, fever) soon after being there, not sure if the pools were the cause or it was just coincidence. read more

As an RV park, this place is pathetic. Although we confirmed when booking that they offered full hookups with 50 amp, upon arrival we were offered 50 amp with no sewer or 30 amp with sewer. They didn't want to give us a map to show where our space was, along with showers, etc., saying the map was "not real explainable". (We discovered later that the part of the park we were going to was not even on the map). They have filled up this place with permanent residents, so they went down and across the street and mowed a field and called it an rv park. Even though we are in a grassy field, the spaces are so tight we cannot use our awnings. To get to any amenities (restrooms, laundry showers) you have to walk about 100 yards down a busy road with no sidewalks and no shoulders, then across a big field, then thru the campground. There is only ONE men's toilet that has a see-thru curtain instead of a door. When using the toilet your knees are up against the curtain and your feet stick out under curtain. And to use the hot springs costs extra. I feel like we were mislead, and I feel cheated. I will not be returning. read more

We visited this facility while on vacation and were not impressed. It's not terribly expensive and the hot pool is pleasant due to the high mineral content, but beyond that...ugh. Everything is grubby and looks very out of date. The water slide appears to be covered in mold, and although the cold pool is allegedly chlorinated, I highly doubt it is done to industry standards. There was not even a hint of chlorine smell. As there were lots of small children in the pool, and I saw no rules about needing swim diapers, I'd be concerned about an e coli contamination. As I said, the price isn't bad, but it's only a few dollars less than the beautiful and well-maintained hot springs we have here in WA; they really should be able to improve it, at least enough so that it doesn't feel so unclean. Finally, absolutely DO NOT go to this place if you don't plan on wearing "modest" swimwear. I've no idea what this is exactly, as there is no info posted, on either their website or their signs. As a result, my adolescent daughter, who was wearing a bikini that wouldn't raise an eyebrow where we come from had the choice of leaving the pool or wearing a loaner suit (which...no. Gross). We all left together, and it's probably just as well in some ways, as it meant less exposure to whatever germs they have percolating in that place, but what wasn't so awesome was having a kid who was in tears and wanted to leave the entire state asap. I would suggest having the "modest swimwear" requirement CLEARLY listed in the rules (as Silverwood Amusement Park does). We would never have gone out of our way to go to Heise if we had known this in advance. Very, very disappointing. read more

We used the RV park. Tons of rules but the one rule with a blind eye was wondering dogs. Not cool. The back in spot are not on angle. We stayed at the campground, used the pools and the zipline. You don't have many options in this area, so this appeared to be one of the better campgrounds. That being said, know that they have multiple campground sites and we ended up a half a mile from the pools without knowing it at booking. The pools are dated, but usable. The hot springs are a nice attraction and worth the visit. The zipline operation was well run and we enjoyed the experience. The pizza was pretty darn good. The campground itself was nothing special. Basic hook-ups, but no restrooms. The grounds were just average - they were watering like crazy to keep it green. The sites in the campground we stayed at were well spaced, so we had lots of breathing room. It's not bad for a one or two night stay, your kids will enjoy themselves. If you're planning for a longer stay, this may not be the venue. read more

I go here multiple times every summer with my friends because it is my very favorite water park in the area. They have a slide, two good sized pools, a diving board, a snack bar, and a hot tub (that's probably the hottest I've ever been in). The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because there's a pretty prominent bee and wasp problem (I've had multiple friends & loved ones come home with nasty stings), and the bathrooms are absolutely horrendous. The bathroom and dressing room stalls are covered by a too-small plastic curtain, there's no ventilation, so the humidity is terrible, and the cleanliness leaves something to be desired. However, if you come already in your swimming suit, and just stay vigilant to where you step and where you swing your arms, you're guaranteed to have a blast. The water is much warmer than most water parks, and it gets as deep as 10 feet, so diving is allowed. They are also renovating the dressing rooms over by the warmer pools, and I'm extremely excited to see how those turn out, because I'm hoping they'll fix the dressing room issue. Overall, I highly recommend coming up with a cooler full of snacks and a few friends on a warm day. You're sure to enjoy yourself. read more

We have been visiting the hot springs at Heise for years, but I think this week may be our last visit to the pools. The hot springs pool has been getting grungier every time we go, the mold has finally gotten so bad we won't go back. The floor mats are spotted black and the shower curtains haven't been changed in years, they too are black with mold. Mold covers the place and it is think in the ceilings. The shower floors are slimy and the floors looked like they haven't been cleaned in months. We love to visit hot springs throughout Wyoming, Montana, Utah and Idaho. Heise is the most expensive and the absolute grungiest. The owners must only care about their pockets. I wonder if the Idaho sanitation department has ever stopped in? They should. read more

I'm honestly shocked to see all the 5 star reviews here. This place is the definition of unsanitary. Tons of bugs floating in the pool, mold growing on the walls and covering the entire water slide, and even the sides of the bigger cold pool were decomposing. Not to mention both me and my brother came out with brand new plantar warts on our the bottom of our feet just a few days later! Probably from the incredibly gross floors in the changing room.
