Okay - as mentioned in my previous reviews, I love to golf and try different courses throughout the country when just a short drive away. Staying in Idaho Falls for a small wedding, my parents, husband and I decided to spend a morning on the golf course before heading into the festivities. Sand Creek was the course of choice, thanks Dad!, and proved to be pretty much meh. COURSE: Located in literally the middle of nowhere, we found ourselves lost in just getting to the course. Despite using our phone for directions, google easily rerouted us to the country club, which was not our destination and only added to the frustration in attempting to find the course, and get there in a timely fashion. After doing some map digging, we spotted the course and headed that way! The course itself is nice, well taken care of and provides a variety of greens to challenge all skill levels! SERVICE: Upon arrival, there was no one to be found. The pro shop window was closed, the bar/restaurant was not open and not a soul in sight. We ended up spotting a woman carrying ice into the restaurant area and inquired with her before she waved down her boss to check us in and provide us with golf carts. She was friendly, but seemed annoyed that we interrupted her set up process. After using the bathroom, we opted for breakfast drinks on the course to loosen the mood, but she was unable to provide us with any hard alcohol, stupid Idaho drinking laws! However, she was generous enough to mix up a few drinks for us, and allow us to "start a tab" and pay after our round! Food is also offered, via order at the counter or call from any spot on the golf course for delivery or pick up once finished! The pro shop attendant was nice, allowed us to start at any time (regardless of our scheduled tee time) and made for quick but friendly interaction. Just a note: Masks are NOT required/were not required in this county when we played our round (early September) which made for a little bit of an uncomfortable experience. Being from Denver, where our restrictions are much harsher, I was surprised to see no one wearing masks, keeping socially distant or providing additional cleaning supplies. However, keep an eye out in the bar area, the sweet bartender makes and sells her own mask creations! Sand Creek Golf Course - Golf Near Me - Idaho Falls, Idaho

I'll preface this with I'm horrible at golf and play maybe twice a year. I'm not well versed in golf courses, i've only played on a half dozen or so. Golf Shop- good I guess, the employees there are very nice and they seem to have lots of golf equipment. Course- It was the first really nice day of the season and the place was packed. We got on in a relatively brief amount of time, maybe 10-15 mins. The course itself is challenging and for the fact we are just starting April it is pretty green. Golf Patrons- Once again I suck at golf, I realize this and won't spend 20 minutes trying to find a ball when there is a line of golfers waiting to tee up. If people had some basic common courtesy it wouldn't have taken us 4.5 hours to golf 9 holes. Also, if you have a child golfing with you, don't let them go 30 over par on every hole. This is another reasons why there should be some sort of golf etiquette class/agreement before you start golfing. IN CONCLUSION: I really enjoyed this golf course minus the horrible (and I mean horrible at life, not horrible at golf) people in front of us. read more

Sand Creek Golf Course - Hole 1 - Golf Near Me - Idaho Falls, Idaho

I was visiting from out of town and wanted to hit some balls. Spent about an hour at the range. Grass (not mat). Pins well marked for distance. I also was in the market for a driver. Tried several (different shafts and loft). Kevin at the shop was super nice and patient. In the end I got a killer deal on a Mizuno driver. Then I flew back home and noticed I had dropped my hybrid cover. Called the next day and they had it. They shipped it to me and did not let me pay for the shipping. A group of four of us ladies went to give your golf course a try today (Sunday August 18, 2013) and was completely disappointed and had a awful experience because of your unfriendly staff. I will never pay to use this course again and I will make sure anyone I know never comes here either. Your staff worker Brian treated us with such disrespect and like we were a bunch of idiots. Just in case you have two Brians he was and older gentlemen. So we decided we would do the back 9 today because one of the ladies I was with had been here before and never had a problem doing the back 9. After 3 of us hit our ball we noticed a group coming up behind us so we told them to go ahead that we would be taking our time today. This group proceeded to go and we started our game back up right before our 4th golfer went your staff member Brian pulled up and asked us what we were doing and that we HAD to start and hole 1. Really? No we don't. He said that we are going to be hold up to many people. So out of respect for your course we went and got our ball and started at number 1. At this hole is where we were completely embarrassed. Two of us hit our ball and the third was about to go when the VERY loud intercom said "LADIES YOU NEED TO LET THE GENTLEMAN GO BEFORE YOU" I turned around and no one was standing there. About thirty seconds later three men walked up and said that man inside say to let you know that we need to go before you. We told the men that was completely fine. Just then another older staff member in a orange shirt came up and said VERY condescending that if people come up behind us we need to let them go. We didn't say anything to this man because we are polite people and just wanted to have a good time golfing but this was so unprofessional treating us like we are idiots. Honestly I have golfed for 2 summers now and have never had a course treat me like this. I have been in customer service for 7 years now and know that this is not the way you treat your paying customers. Also I will make sure I am writing reviews on this golf course on the internet so people coming from out of town knows to stay away from this unfriendly place because honestly there is many more golf courses in Idaho Falls that treats people with respect and deserves the money. read more

Tricia- Starting on the back nine is NEVER allowed without permission from the pro shop. This is on every scorecard under 'General Etiquette Rules.' The direct quote from one scorecard states: "No starting on #10 without permission from golf shop unless you are immediately continuing play from hole #9." Furthermore, the reason why the employee told you to let people play through is because golfers do not like slow play. They probably should have expressed this to you in a nicer way but after your group tried starting on the wrong hole they probably didn't have much faith that your group knew much about golf. Before you play golf, it is very important to know the basic rules. I would highly recommend taking a lesson from a professional before golfing again. I read your review because I'm planning on traveling to Idaho Falls and would like to play golf. Please educate yourself about golf before writing another review of a golf course.
