So far, only great experiences at this venue. Size wise reminds me of center stage. Instead of seats everywhere second level (there are a few) they have lots of tiered leaning rails. Pretty easy to get a great visual. Haven't been for a sold out event yet so will be interested to see how it gets when even you have to pack behind people a leaning rail on the upper levels which doesn't seem ideal. (Kind of like left and right sides of variety playhouse) Lots of bars, at least one if not two on every level. Bathrooms on at least first and second (likely also top) floors. Rooftop is open and has tables (serve by number, not wait staff) bar and food. Not a skyline view or anything because of local apartments taller. This is such a great concert venue that I didn't even realize it's only just now about a year old! It reminds me of the Georgia theatre in Athens because it basically has two levels: the floor and then an upper balcony area with different ascending levels of standing room. It's nice to have both options because you can choose to stand on the floor and really be a part of the crowd or you can choose to stand in the balcony are where you'll always have a perfect view of the stage since the levels are staggered! The venue has multiple bars throughout on each level so it's super easy to grab a drink at any time. The pricing is a bit on the higher side for drinks but not surprising considering it's an event venue rather than a standalone bar. Parking is extremely easy as there's a deck right next door to the venue and there are typically people working the entrances who will enter your card for you and direct you where to go. Typically it costs ~$20 for event parking. The sound is always mixed SO well for concerts and the lighting design is amazing. I've seen The Band Camino, Highly Suspect, and Carly Rae Jepsen here and each experience was so different from the others but all were visually and audibly stunning! Definitely recommend coming here to see a favorite artist or even an artist you aren't as familiar with, it will be a great time. read more

When you enter The Eastern for a show it all feels very corporate. Metal detectors at the doors equals long lines to get in if you don't get there early. This was our first visit, while we've been frequently to the sister venue at Terminal West. We had no idea how large this place is, think Civic Center in a medium size city. If you are not on foot or ride share, parking is about $20 at one of the local paid decks. Kind of a bummer but that's life in the big city. We were there to see the Violent Femmes, a sold out show, and they did not disappoint even after all these years. The crowd was really into it and that added to the enjoyment. The venue has a great rooftop bar with Asian themed small plates, we had the Bao buns and veggie eggrolls, both of which were surprisingly good, though somewhat pricy. We were able to take these to our seats and eat dinner while we watched the opener. We were in the upper "seats" which are large concrete steps. This actually works better than real seats. The aisles are very wide, and since Covid is still a thing despite no one GAF these days, you are more separated from other folks. This place sort of reminded me of a super-sized 9:30 Club (DC venue) in its layout. There is a "pit" area and great places to stand at railings higher up, and of course the seats where we were. There are some obstructed views but not bad, get there early. The sound is not the best (Variety Playhouse for that), but not too bad given that it's a huge hulking cement monster of a room. All in all, first impressions weren't good but we left feeling that we'd absolutely go back to see another show. It's an amazing venue. read more

I like this new venue! It's small, so you can sit anywhere & see pretty well. There are a few spots in the balcony blocked by poles, but not many. Plenty of staff every time I've been, and they're nice. Pricing is good on drinks. Pretty big merch area. It's all been very clean so far! The rooftop is a good spot to check out before a show. No amazing views but it's breezy. The parking is the biggest negative. The deck is pricey and street parking is iffy. Oh, and there are no big screens, really. So if you tend to watch those instead of the stage, you might not love it. read more

I absolutely love The Eastern, it's without a doubt one of Atlanta's best live music venues, despite being the newest. There's not a bad spot in the entire house and the sound system is pitch perfect which should always be the top priority! But I got to say it's a huge bummer that the metal construction results in absolutely no cell service when on property. At first thought, you might not see this as such a bad thing, after all, concerts are best experienced in person, in the moment. But there are plenty of situations where this becomes a more serious issue: Emergencies? --You're not available. Need to request an Uber after the show? --Better start walking down the block before you can get in the massive virtual queue. Want to meet up with friends who are arriving separately or lose the rest of your party after a wild night out? --Hope you had the foresight to coordinate a mutual meetup spot. I don't know entirely what all can be done, but the current setup is honestly a bit of a hazard and I wanted to put this out there in hopes other locals can get a heads up before visiting for the first time. Here's hoping the owners can work on a solution. read more

Horrible neighbors. These aholes always rope off huge amounts of public street parking even when there's no loading or unloading. They just hold it. They leave steel ramps blocking the public sidewalks when they're not in use. Then they're dicks about if if you walk down the public sidewalk. Eastern, you don't own Old Flat Shoals. I came here with Bae to watch Marc Rebillet, which he was AWESOME by the way; don't get it twisted, this review is not for him. The venue was a good combo of places to sit and stand and it was separated between those who bought special tickets. There are places where you can stand and put your drink down. There are places you can sit and have space. Intimate spacing sort of, but breathable space. I think this venue has been used by many others in the past. I think I'd definitely go again and the drinks aren't outrageous, in my opinion. I give it a 4 because I don't know where the bathroom was. Though to be fair I didn't look hard enough for it. I wish the place I hadn't sat had a huge pillar in my way, as I'm 5'2. Suggestion: get there early to scope a good spot especially if you're short. read more

Love the eastern! I have been here 3 times to see Goose, Shaky Graves, and Animal Collective. The sound is SO GOOD here and the venue is so nice. I love that there is so much seating at the upper levels and you can really see the stage so well from up there. The bartenders are all nice. The only thing that sucks is the parking. If you tell them you're there for the show, they up the price from the hourly amount to a more expensive standard price. That's lame. Aside from that, I have no other complaints. The venue itself is a good setup, the sound ok... on the upper deck you could hear people talking more than the band. right side stage the bar lights are so bright they take away from the show abs are very distracting. The rules are just ridiculous, security getting in was insane, opened every single item in my bag, down to the lipstick... threw away stickers that I had in my bag from a previous show... no stickers? you can't go up your aisle during setbreak, you have to weave around d the entire venue, go to the top and then come back down, never seen that in any venue... has potential to be a great music venue, but lots of improvements to be done to make that happen. read more

I like the intimacy of the bottom floor of the venue. The top floor has seats if you do not want to stand. Parking is $20 which always irks me due to how expensive concerts are these days. I've heard that it went up to $30, but can't confirm. Parking garage can have you stuck for a super long time trying to exit, and I got rear ended by the impatient person behind me. Another time, there was broken glass in my parking space and when I kindly informed the parking garage staff, they just shrugged. Awesome indoor Venue for concerts! It has an industrial feel. There are a few restaurants connected to the building. Parking deck is $20 and worth it if you want to keep your valuables safe. The venue has at least 3 bars upstairs and another couple downstairs. Seating was comfortable enough even though we didn't sit for long because the concert kept us on our feet! Super fun place! Last night, I attended the Parcels concert with three friends. The sound was absolutely abysmal. The bass guitar was so high up in the mix, the show as ruined for us and for the many people around us also upset about the mix. Before last night, I had been to five other shows at the Eastern and the sound had always been great. Two of us mentioned the problem with the sound to an Eastern employee that we ran into on our way back from a beer run. He was in total agreement that the sound mix was horrible. He stated that the band had brought their own sound guy, and that the venue had no control over the mix when this was the case. I heard this exact same excuse - a venue having no control over sound because the band brought their own sound guy with them - at the last concert I attended where the bass line ruined the show, along with the kick drum. That was in late 2019 at a Terminal West Allah-Las show. Interestingly, just the night before that concert, at the same venue, I had seen another band and the sound mix had been perfect. Another fact that seems relevant here is that the sound board at The Eastern is downstairs under the mezzanine. The bass was even worse upstairs, where I'm guessing this particular sound guy never ventured to take a listen. A suggestion to The Eastern owners: a knowledgeable Eastern employee should sign off on the sound mix during soundcheck from downstairs and the lower mezzanine regardless of who is going to be handling sound that night. It seems to me that your customers enjoyment of the concert is more important than the band not getting the exact mix they would like. Seriously, what exactly is the point of a bass guitar being so loud that your insides shake and that it overrides the vocals and other instruments? Pointless. Another issue with The Eastern last night was that the advertised rooftop restaurant was closed for a private event. My friends and I were all planning on eating dinner up there as we typically have done before a show there. (Great food. Try the potstickers.) If there was signage posted somewhere in the line about the closure, none of us saw it. So we get in and try to go upstairs to eat, and that isn't an option. We asked a guard if we could leave to get something to eat and we were told no re-entry, so that was that, beer for dinner. Maybe this conflict happened because Parcels was moved from Variety to The Eastern and by that time, the rooftop was already rented. Regardless, management should have added a post to the website for the concert on its calendar about this. Also the fact that the restaurant was closed should have been more clearly posted with signage before the point of no return. Finally, another security guard kept coming over to the one posted near us, and they both spent a good deal of time shouting to each other over the music about family drama. Thanks, but I'd rather hear the concert without having to listen to the security guards yell at each other about anything. In sum: a venue that got off to a great start, and now seems to be backsliding in quality. Please management, turn it around. The space is wonderful. Parking Warning: when you enter the parking deck and an attendant asks you if you are going to the concert, say no, that you are going to an Atlanta Dairy restaurant. If you say yes, you will be directed to another line to pay $20 for the night. If you say no, you pay regular parking rates, which are much lower. (So lame.) read more

The eastern is probably my favorite Venue in Atlanta. It's easy entrance in and out even when during a sold out show. Great location. And the venue itself is amazing. I've been on the mezzanine every time I have been their and it's perfect. The only downside to my most recent visit was a 35-year-old woman wearing squishmellow earrings who tried to fight my girlfriend. But that's the price you gotta pay i guess. read more

I saw Stereolab here. At first I was disappointed they weren't playing the Variety Playhouse. That disappointment faded as soon as I walked in the venue. The place is enormous and has an incredible layout; with very cool architecture. They have 5 levels and while there isn't a lot of seating there are tons of spots to check out the show. The floor area is really cool as well as all the levels. The bathrooms are really big. It has a very clean modern noir style; gorgeous interior. The acoustics and light/visuals are very good. IMO the best music venue in Atlanta. It makes Variety, Tabernacle, and Center stage look dated. I can't say enough good things about this place. read more

Atlantas newest but FAR from good. 1. Zero lights lighting the stairs going down to the general admission floor area. 2. The staff and security were in no way ready for a medical emergency during a concert. TOTAL FAILURE! The band had to bring up the house lights for 20 mins and no one would give any sort of update and as far as anyone knows, nothing ever happened. 3. During an intimate show where you could hear a pin drop, bar and merchandise staff loudly conversed with 2 drunk patrons where half the audience or more was visibly distracted ruining large parts of the show. I had to be the one to went and asked the staff to keep it down and then I was thanked by everyone as I walked past after. Not only that but there were two other male security members who talked in the left corner of the general admission area next to the ADA sections that would not STFU during the show and encore then mockingly and dramatically clapping after. Just overall disrespectful to fans and the artists. This was for Iron & Wine btw. Will avoid this venue in the future. After a two hour drive, I really wanted to enjoy this show and have a good time at this new venue but instead the failure of staff ruined many people's night including mine and that's why I'm not happy. read more

Come early to grab a seat in the balcony, otherwise a good sight line is hard to find for a sold out show. Sound could've been better dialed in. Beautiful space but some logistical issues that had me scratching my head. I was especially perplexed by the location of the bathrooms, which were at the front of the venue in a very dark corridor. They were hard to hit at the end of the show when everyone was heading the opposite direction to get outside.
