Came here for a fundraiser and was pleasantly surprised. I never knew this event space was here and it is so cute. There is so much history in this building. Downstairs there are frames posters that tell some GA history. I was surprised how much I didn't know about GA. This space is bigger than it looks on the outside. There isn't much parking in this area because it's situated right in the middle of a residential neighborhood. The street parking fills up quickly. This is perfect for a reception or even a small wedding or baby shower. I would recommend this space to people. There are bathrooms on both levels and a kitchen area. read more

A gem of a wedding venue in the middle of Atlanta. We picked this venue for our wedding because of the prime location in Atlanta for both ceremony and reception, its historic charm, and the great value compared to other "bare" venues we toured. Julie was a delight and gave us several tips to make logistics run more smoothly and tips to save us money! We really enjoyed working with her. For our 200 guests, we used the upstairs area as a lounge and photo booth for our guests and the outside space was converted post-ceremony to another hangout spot. The rest of the main floor was used for dinner and dancing. One thing I wish they could improve upon is the rental hours. We were hoping to go until at least midnight, but they count the hours of the party at load in, not ceremony start. Even with paying overtime, we could only continue until 10:30 PM. Overall, it was a great experience. It does take more effort to design a wedding in a bare space, but Julie worked hard to make sure we could use as many of the resources (tables, chairs, etc) she had in house to save us on budget. read more

We attended a orchestra quartet at The Trolley Barn. It's located in Atlanta in a pretty busy part of town. A movie was being filmed on the street the trolley barn was on so parking was a little harder to find. The trolley barn itself was decorated beautifully with what seemed to be 1000s of candles. The quartet was on a lifted stage in the middle. The acoustics were good as was the quartet. The chairs you sit in are insanely uncomfortable, after 30 minutes I saw myself and others shifting in their seats. No drinks or food were sold during this event however you were allowed to bring in your own wine or beer I believe. The employees were nice and accommodating. read more

I finally visited The Trolley Barn when walking through the Inman Park Festival. Specifically, I was there to see the Dance Festival, which was very cool. The remainder of the year, The Trolley Barn is an event space which you can rent for anything from a fundraiser to a wedding. The event space is nice and spacious. Good windows and ventilation. There's a nice catering kitchen and easily accessible bathrooms. I did not get a chance to check out the downstairs or the upper loft. The back lawn / patio area seems spacious and airy. I can see why people like to do events here. read more

I am going to get married here. This building is beautiful in every way. The barn is now a long open hall but in the early 1900's is held Atlanta's first electric railway. The neighborhood is the historic Inman Park, which is quiet, and full of gingerbread Victorians. At night, little white lights illuminate the dark green wood and a brick patio is perfect for tables or dancing. This place is really simple, really charming and the perfect place for a small wedding. read more

PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE. The management is extremely rude! I bought two tickets for my fiancée and me to see the show last night for her birthday. I was able to come on time, however, my fiancée was coming straight from night school, so she was going to be late. I told the person at the front door my predicament, and he was able to pre-scan my fiancée's ticket so that she would be good to go when she arrived. He said all she had to do was say her name when arrived at the front door. My fiancée's lecture in her night class ran overtime, so she was later than anticipated. I met her at the front door when a woman appeared and told us that doors had closed, and that there were only ten minutes left in the show. I looked around for the man that had pre-scanned my fiancée's ticket, but he was nowhere to be seen. The woman who referred to herself as the owner, told us that doors were now closed and that my fiancée was not allowed to see the last ten minutes of the show. I don't understand why they are unable to simply unable to open the door I just came out of to let two paying customers enjoy the show. I told her that I had already spent $115 and that I just wanted to treat my girl to the last 10 minutes for her birthday. The woman was dismissive and cold. She said that she had heard such excuses before. She abruptly cut us off and proceeded to look at her phone. Rude :) I would also like to point out that this venue is way overpriced for a ONE-HOUR show. Keep your money, there are plenty of other places with live music to enjoy in Atlanta :) read more

While the facility is truly beautiful and the new executive director is extraordinarily accommodating, I can't in good conscious recommend this venue due to the abnormally strict policies and Trolley Barn employee Jim Barker's particularly rude approach while monitoring my event. It's worth noting that my wedding group was not a loud, combative or disruptive group. We did not garner a single complaint from neighbors. Still, Barker talked down to my mother and bridesmaids and made them feel like they were not wanted on my wedding day. My godmother, wedding planner, photographer and deejay all said they either witnessed Barker disrespecting someone or were directly disrespected during the cleanup or setup process. Our deejay, a 54-year-old African American man, stated that he introduced himself to Barker before the event began and was immediately told not to have music blasting. "I said I know the routine 80-90db. He was like right because when you play Drake it can peak past that." Our deejay, who did not break a single venue policy, walked away feeling profiled because of his race. Also, we had several guests complain that they couldn't hear the violinist playing during the outdoor reception due to Barker's constant urging to play softer. After I noticed the low music inside ruined the dancing environment, I have to say this venue is better suited for funerals than wedding receptions with lots of dancing. What's most upsetting is that as soon as I got into the car with my new husband, I had nothing but negative experiences to share with him. I now know that is largely because of the venue's regulations and how they were enforced. I have to warn anyone reading this not to book this venue unless he or she wants to take on a headache. read more

Don't be fooled by the beauty of this facility. It is a distraction to what is really going on behind the scenes in the treatment of people of color. While the new executive director Lisa Milko was extraordinarily accommodating to my daughter and son-in-law, I cannot recommend this venue due to the abnormally strict policies and Trolley Barn's employee Jim Barker's particularly rude, disrespectful and discriminatory behavior, while attempting to monitor (a community member hiding behind the role to racially profile) my only daughter's wedding. Since this time, my daughter and son-in-law have resolved this matter and as a result, received a refund for this experience, countless apologies from Ms. Milko, and notification that they would withhold Mr. Barker's pay for the day. The monetary acknowledgement isn't enough, given Jim Barker is still employed and therefore sends the message that his behavior is acceptable. It's more important, in my opinion, that the public at large be informed. As the Mother of the Bride, I cannot express with more disdain, the treatment, I experienced and as a result ruined what should have been a glorious occasion for me. I have narratives from each vendor that explain what occurred from their perspective, however for this notation, I am limited by word count. My daughter's godmother, wedding planner, photographer and deejay all said they either witnessed Barker disrespecting someone or were directly disrespected during the cleanup or setup process. I asked did she confirm that the additional 10 minutes would be at no cost. She said no so I approached the Barker to confirm and clarify. He rudely responded, "You will be charged..." He raised his voice, interrupted me before I could finish speaking, and repeated that the 10 minutes would incur a cost. My first concern was the manner in which he responded. My second concern was the inconsistent messaging he gave throughout the night. He would offer additional time without sharing that it would cost to one person, then state that it would cost to another. In my opinion, it was in an attempt to increase additional costs. Then he continued from 11 o'clock to 11:04 to scream out the exact time to inform the entire group of how many minutes we were over. He would scream, "It's 11:02, you'll be charged... its' 11:03 you'll be charged, it's 11:04 you'll be charged." Meanwhile the bridal party and guests were frantically ignoring him and cleaning the facility. It's worth noting that the wedding group was not a loud, combative or disruptive group. We did not garner a single complaint from neighbors. Still, Barker talked down to us. I have to warn anyone reading this not to book this venue in support of equitable treatment of all people. read more

The Trolley Barn is a space that can be rented for events and I love it. It is spacious and open. It boasts an upstairs area that overlooks the downstairs. I can only speak from the viewpoint of a guest at a wedding, not the bride, groom, or wedding party professional who organized the event. However, out of all the weddings I have ever been invited to, no venue has been quite as relaxing and homey like The Trolley Barn. The place is quite historic (although I do not know much about the history) and is the perfect atmosphere for a small wedding. If you want an outdoor wedding, they have a patio at the garden where you can seat all guests. If you want a relaxing dinner, they have wood floors which provide a rustic atmosphere that makes you feel like you are at at home, enhancing any intimate setting that may take place at this venue. Note: The garden is home to two cats, but I feel they add to the rustic feel of the place. I read on the website that you need to contract an outside vendor/caterer, so that may a bit of an inconvenience if you are looking for a venue that caters. Also, in regards to the bathrooms, there is only one toilet and urinal downstairs, so expect to wait a while if there is a long line for the bathroom, but these are only minor obstacles because this type of venue can make any event memorable. read more

This venue is nice, but the people who run it are awful. They cut our wedding short, were given proof that their event manager shut our wedding down earlier then the agreed upon time (as specified in the contract), and never sent compensation. They essentially stole time and money from us on a very special night. read more

I would like to start by saying that all aspects of my wedding were awesome, except for my experience with The Trolley Barn's staff. If you're looking for the perfect place to ruin the ending of one of the most special days of your life, this is it! The Trolley Barn's 2,500 sf courtyard was pitch black for the duration of our wedding. We tried to find The Trolley Barns appointed Event Manager many times to turn the lights on. The groom spent 30 mins of our 3 hr reception (which was ultimately cut shorty) trying to get the lights to turn on. We later learned that the Event Mgr spent most of the evening outside talking to the security officer. Guests couldn't locate their children or see even a few feet in front of themselves. It was a mess. Shortly after, all of the house lights were turned on & we began getting goodbyes. We learned that the Event Mgr directed our DJ to announce for everyone to leave. This was at 9pm, an hr earlier then the agreed end time! We were supposed to cut the cake at 9pm, but instead found that all of our guests were being told to "get out". Our DJ was also told to pack up, so we announced ourselves that we were about to cut the cake. We told the Event Mgr we that would pay for more time, despite whatever confusion, as this was a once in a lifetime event that we had already spent thousands on. She said no & continued hassling guests to get out. She also told our caterer to pack up so we didn't have a knife to cut the cake with or forks/plates for guests until a family member found and unpacked them (I'm still not even sure guests actually ate any of the cake). Trying to swell back tears, I scooped the cake with my hands. Immediately after, I ran to gather my stuff in preparation to be sent-off. The Event Mgr proceeded to follow me to the bridal room & told me to pull my car up to load things in to. Who tells the bride to go pull her car up? Nevertheless, I did it. Confused & rushed, the remaining guests helped load into any random vehicle that they could find. 4 weeks later & I'm still trying to figure out who has what from the wedding. Few remaining guests did a mock send-off for us. Afterwards, we spoke with The Trolley Barn's Director, Lisa Milko. We requested half of the venue fee back as compensation for a horrible ending to our special night. She responded not only denying compensation, but said she was keeping out $1k deposit too because 1. The caterer that we ended up using was not the caterer that we initially intended to use. We told the Trolley Barn appointed employee that we did the walk-through with that we changed vendors. Apparently the staff does not communicate with one another & the customer is penalized for that. 2. The venue was left dirty. This is 100% false. The Event Mgr walked the venue with the caterer & approved all areas. Additionally, the Director, Lisa Milko, sent staged photos from an event that wasn't even ours! I know every detail of our wedding decor because I purchased it all- and can tell you that our linens were dark teal, not black as shown in the photo, our water bottles were Kroger Brand- not Dasani, and our cups had a gold lining- not clear. I even sent time stamped photos from the photographer showing house lights on at 9pm, & the pitch black courtyard, to which she failed to ever address. We received our deposit back, but that was it. We never received compensation for the time we paid for, or more importantly, an apology for the Event Mgrs actions. The directors response was dismissive & distasteful. I picked this venue because I live locally love to support businesses in my community. Unfortunately, my guests and I no longer support the use of the venue. Our vendors confirmed that this is normal behavior for this venue & that they have a reputation for doing things like this. Time that we paid for at Trolley Barn was stolen from us, we along with our guests were treated rudely, & 2500 sf of the venue was dark & unusable. If you are looking to book a venue to host your special night, I urge you to avoid these people, as I wish we had done. read more

As beautiful as the Trolley Barn is, I'd unfortunately stay away from this venue, unless you want to deal with very rude staff who are not willing to answer basic questions about the venue, unbelievably inconvenient hours of operation, ridiculous expectations, and extremely harsh penalties for breaking any rules. I scheduled an appointment to view the barn with one particular staff member (there are only two; I'm referring to the male staff member)...this individual was late in meeting us. Fine, we're were willing to let that go, even though we had other obligations later that day. When I asked the staff member about parking, I realized he had actually lied about the number of available parking spots for guests. When I politely mentioned there were fewer spots than he originally told me, he played dumb and told me he couldn't tell me how many spots there were. I pressed him and replied that we couldn't sign anything until we knew there was guaranteed parking for our guests -- to which he replied "Well, I really can't give you that information now. We can give it to you sometime, I suppose." (quite rudely) Never mind that, I was willing to let even that go. Concerned about constructing a rain plan (we're holding our wedding in the month of May -- you never know), I asked the person if he had any pictures of weddings which had to use the rain contingency plan, so I could get an idea of how much space there was inside the barn, and whether one could have the ceremony and reception in the same area. Even more rudeness. His reply was "I have no idea what you're talking about. I don't have a clue what you're asking me. That's something you need to address with your wedding planner, that's not something that's of concern to us." Despite these obvious red flags, I held on to our reserved date/time in hopes of better experiences later. I did see the review about the crazy neighbors and was very concerned about this, understandably. So, I addressed the issue, NOT with the male staff member, but with the director of the Trolley Barn. She mentioned that she actually OK-ed the PA system out back in the garden, but that there was a sermon going on in the middle of the afternoon (her exact words!!) and the neighbor came over and unplugged the sound system in a moment of rage. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY. You should be able to do anything/say you want (within certain means) in the day time on a weekend!! Especially at your own wedding! How sad. So, this was basically the last straw, because I reviewed the contract and found out that there is a Trolley Barn attendant present at every event with a decibel checker. If you go beyond the decibel limit at ANY point, you lose your ENTIRE deposit -- that's $1000, folks. In summary, if you want peace of mind on your wedding day, if you don't want to worry about crazy neighbors ruining your reception, and if you don't want to deal with extremely rude, uncompromising, unaccomodating personnel, look elsewhere. Really, this is for your own sanity. Despite teh awesome location and the beautiful high beam ceilings and wooden interior, it's really, really not worth it. There are seriously other places in the city with more competitive rental fees, with REALLY nice staff members who will help you on your wedding day. I can guarantee it (because I've found one). The Trolley Barn is a unique and rustic venue in Atlanta, GA that makes the perfect setting for any wedding. My husband and I had talked for a long time about getting married there, so we didn't even consider anything else when we decided to finally tie the knot. The staff are great to work with, and while they do have some guidelines for the venue they ask you to adhere to, it was no problem for us and we had a lovely ceremony and reception. The backyard patio was gorgeous during the golden hours of the evening, and interior of the barn was perfect for our reception (140 guests) with everyone fitting comfortably. If you're getting married in Atlanta, you definitely should check out the Trolley Barn! read more

We had our wedding reception here in June of this year and absolutely LOVED the venue. It's rustic while still being comfortable and cozy yet spacious. It's tucked into an adorable neighborhood in Inman Park and we had no complaints about parking from our guests. The outdoor bar, patio, and garden combined with the Barn's rustic charm really set the place apart from other venues in the Atlanta. For our reception, we wanted something that felt like the lovechild of a cocktail party and a picnic, and the Trolley Barn was perfect. The great thing about the Barn (for us, at least), was flexibility. You pay for the space and that's about it: you can choose your own caterer, event planner/designer, band/dj, florist, and bring in your own alcohol (which can save you lots and lots and lots of $$$). We looked at spaces where you were restricted to certain vendors and definitely preferred having the ability to make everything our own. Two tips- if you plan on using the patio space, it might not be a terrible idea to tent it (it hailed! during our reception and guests were able to duck under the tent and wait out the storm) and be sure to let your band/DJ know about the noise level restrictions (think the max you can be is 80/90 DB loud) and the TB is strict about enforcing this rule (understandable as they ARE in a neighborhood setting and don't want to constantly disturb their neighbors). Overall, this was an absolutely GORGEOUS backdrop for our wedding reception (and I'm hoping we get invited to a wedding there again someday). I do not recommend the Trolley Barn for your event. Things went smoothly up until the day before my wedding. We were supposed to have a rehearsal from 6:00 until 7:00. I arrive at 6:00 along with my wedding party and Day of Event Coordinator. The staff member from the Trolley Barn was not there. We waited and called the only number they gave me, which is the office phone. The problem is they are only open from 10:00 a.m to 1 p.m. so I knew when I called that no one would answer. They never gave us an alternate number so we had no way to get in touch with the director and let her know the person didn't show up! After waiting for 30 min, we had no choice but to practice the ceremony procession in the parking lot!! Another problem was one of my bridesmaids who did all of my flowers had centerpieces that she needed to put inside that night because she would be doing hair and pictures with me the next day and had no time to bring all of the decor to the Trolley Barn the day of the wedding. Finally at 6:50, when we were about to leave to go to our rehearsal dinner, the man shows up and he SMELLED LIKE ALCOHOL!!! This was so unprofessional. We rushed to get all of the flowers inside and head out so we weren't late to our rehearsal dinner. This is not the kind of stress you want the night before your wedding! Because we did not practice the ceremony outside on the patio where it took place, it did affect the ceremony. My bridesmaids stood in the grass which was very wet and soft so their heels were sinking in the mud. I would have had them stand on the patio if we knew this. My maid of honor was futher away from me than I thought she would be so I was not able to hand my flowers to her like we had practiced. If we had practiced the ceremony where it took place, rather than the parking lot, this would not have happened. I am extremely disappointed with the Trolley Barn. read more
