The catering dropped the ball for people who did not eat meat or fish. My plate consisted of a dry salad (no dressing) and some sort of grain dish that I opted not to eat. Our server struggled with our table of eight, as we had to wait longer than expected for refills and updates on our meal offerings and timing. It wasn't a major issue, but it did take away from the overall experience. The tables and chairs need to be reupholstered or replaced, as the chairs we had damaged two of our table guest's dresses. The MC came out and immediately set the tone, commanding the room with confidence and charisma. A quartet, plus one, performed hip hop classics from the past, opening with "Gangsta's Paradise" and moving through artists like Jay Z, Nas, Biggie, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Lauryn Hill, and Snoop Dogg. What made it so clever was how they introduced the songs. They would begin subtly, almost vaguely, building anticipation as the arrangement gradually revealed the track. You wanted to sing along, but that was part of the fun, holding back while the music unfolded. It kept the crowd fully engaged, listening closely and trying to guess what was coming next. The energy in the room was incredible. Everyone seemed to be having a great time, and I would absolutely do this again.

Once the wedding was over, they opened up the curtain and we saw the tables for the reception, bartender, etc. So it was nice not having to get in a car, and drive to another place, or catch an Uber to another location. I do love the rustic Steampunk look of the place which added some charm. I will say, the best place to take pictures is out in the small front entrance areas under the string lights at night. The pictures will look much better. It was in what I would expect to be the main room, which was very open, clean, and welcoming. There's a stage up front and the rest of the room is clear hardwood floors: perfect for a dance class but it'd work for a multitude of events. The entire center seems new, and I was definitely impressed by the grounds, complete with basketball courts and a soccer field. While Clarkston may have never been on my radar before this event, they're certainly lucky to have a community center like this one. #yelp365 24/365

I've been to two, so far, and have been extremely impressed with the quality of entertainment and the convenience of the venue. The first concert was a cover band for Queen who really offered a convincing performance, and the second was the Dazz Band, an R&B/Funk band that's been performing since the 70s. Both shows were fabulous and well-attended without being too overcrowded. Covered parking was available below ground and was free. You can reserve tables near the stage, but most people just bring their own folding chairs and picnics and seating is first come, first serve. Food trucks at the site are available, but there are plenty of nearby restaurants offering takeaway food, if you don't want to bring your own. Alcohol is permitted, though glass is not. There appears to be ample security onsite and it felt very safe. Even outdoors and 88 degree weather, it was surprisingly comfortable after the sun went down. They offered free fans to use during the second show and free 3M ear plugs for both shows. Both shows had an opening band that started at 7:30 PM and the main act started about an hour later. This has been my favorite discovery of the year, so far, and definitely recommend it for anyone who likes 1) live music and 2) free stuff.

They offered beer and wine for alcoholic beverages at the bar. The ambiance was intimate and the decor was perfect. We listened to tunes by D'Angelo and Jill Scott. The duo singing both had amazing voices and put their own spin on each song. I've been to several Candlelight events but the one here a La Maison Rouge was my favorite. Why would you put an event space in a place that has 2 parking spots. I was asked to move my car after I parked then told to go up the street and walk a block back to participate in the event. We attended a wedding event at 42West in West Midtown and had a great time. From a guest…read moreperspective, I thought this was a solid and versatile venue. Easy to get to and from, and parking wasn't bad. This is a relatively new event space on Huff Road, situated between Souper Jenny Westside and Apex West Midtown (Agavero, Twisted Soul). The 42West event space is hidden. It occupies more than half of the building in the back. We mostly spent time in the indoor event space (5,800 square feet) and string-lit upper patio just outside (900 square feet). The event was an Indian sangeet and mehndi. It was a lot like an American wedding reception. There was a catered buffet dinner, performances, and dancing. Hundreds of guests attended. I thought 42West was well-suited for the amount of people, the numerous food stations, and bar (or two, I can't remember). Caterers and other vendors parked their trucks and vehicles in the small parking lot in front of the building. Guests parked across the street at 1075 Huff Road.
