Pulled up to this location for a Sunday Funday event on 11/17/24 sponsored by Sip Shop Eat! There were really cool vendors here (many black owned). We bought scrubs, lip glosses, sun glasses and because we were VIP (had to purchase tickets) we could drink during the event, it was so much fun! Ambient Plus Studio is a huge event space south of downtown Atlanta and the Castleberry Hill district. It's essentially a giant converted loft in the old Southern Mills warehouse. The original Southern Mills signage still remains on the exterior of the aged brick building. I've been to Ambient twice: once in October 2009 for a big, open (Elites + non-Elites) Yelp event and again in February 2014 for Atlanta CSI 2, a murder mystery game put on by Unique Events Interactive Atlanta. The space hasn't changed a bit over the past 4+ years (at least, not as far as I could tell). The studio consists of a 10,000 square foot room with vaulted ceilings. The space is enormous, open, and wide. It's located on the second floor of the building, so you do have to take some stairs up. The building is old and creaky, most notably the hardwood floors. The restrooms are small and dated. It's a vintage space. There are a few separate rooms off to the sides which can be used for storage or staging areas. At the Yelp event, these rooms were reserved for special vendors. I want to say a beautician/make-up person was in one of these rooms. At the murder mystery event, these rooms were used for: (1) the murder scenes, (2) the bar, and (3) the kitchen. There's also a small loft upstairs, though I'm not sure generally what it's used for. At the murder mystery event, a quick scene took place in the loft and on the loft steps. At one end of the space is a large white stage which also rolls up the wall, like a skate board ramp, to the ceiling. I can see this white flooring and white backdrop being used for photo shoots. I know the founder of the studio is a photographer and the studio has been used for many photo shoots. At the murder mystery event, this stage was used for important scenes among the cast members. Videos were projected on the white wall as well. Food was served at both events I attended. At the Yelp event, vendors had tables set up around the perimeter of the space. There were many vendors. At the murder mystery event, upwards of 20 round tables, each seating 8-10 people each, were set up on one half of the floor. There was a buffet off to the side. That setup reminded me very much of a wedding, of which I'm sure this space has hosted more than its fair share. Also at the Yelp event was a photo booth with a rough sketch of the Atlanta skyline on the brick in the background. To top it all off, there was a DJ who spun tunes throughout the evening and a spectacular breakdancing performance towards the end of the night. Since both events happened when it was dark out, I can't attest to the natural lighting of the place. I will say the windows are big and tall. Parking is located in a free, chain-link-fenced-in parking lot the next block over. It's a gravel lot with no marked spaces. Plenty of cars can fit in there, but it might be a good idea to have parking attendants for big events so they can help form efficient rows of parking. The studio is located in an old industrial part of town. It doesn't feel the safest, though for events with lots of people, you're probably OK. In the end, I do like Ambient Plus Studio. It's massive, old school, and versatile. read more

Fantasy location. Good vibes and accommodating staff. Loved the ping pong table. They have a makeup station and area for craft service. The fridge could use some cleaning but other than that it was fine. I'll definitely go back there too film. read more

Recently had my wedding here and it was beautiful. What attracted me to the venue was the style of the place. Very rustic but industrial. So 5/5 on the looks but where I think this place lacks is communication and professionalism. Jason the main guy I spoke with was awesome! He even called several times before the event to check in. The day before, during, and after he was very kind. Paul I believe his name is was also very kind and helpful. My problem came with one of the staff who was rude during set up and made me feel uncomfortable to even ask simple questions like what time they planned on setting up the round tables which I believe was reasonable since my help wanted to set up decor. I was not trying to rush but come on...The next issue came with no communication. In the contract that I signed over 1 1/2 ago stated that the place must be left the way we found it. This is fair and obviously I agreed to it but on your wedding day the last thing you're thinking of is the contract. Through a mini argument the bridesmaid were about to clean up but Paul just told them to leave and that he would do it instead. This was very awesome of Paul but I only wish he would have just let them clean up or reminded us 2 hours earlier so we could have had a big group help. Due to the staff cleaning up a list of things went missing. This was very disappointing and when asking the venue about the missing items nothing was found so either it got thrown away or taken. Which I understand the frustration of having to clean but my bridesmaid were going to do it so they could have been more careful and respectful of our things. Jason was kind enough to ask all staff and give us a details on what they said but still nothing was found besides our sanitizer. Also when speaking to many, many, many guest, I found that there was no uniformed police officer. One guest who works for Atlanta PD went looking and couldn't find him/her. This wouldn't have been a big deal but again no communication. The place is beautiful so on that front it's worth the headache BUT make sure you ask questions and really make them accountable. But again the place is beautiful and overall the wedding was a hit so I would recommend them! 4/4 stars! read more

The venue itself is really cool & with a creative mind, your event can be great. The professionalism of the owners on the other hand... if customer service is something you value, this may not be the place for you. Planning & execution will never be 100% perfect & no one should expect that but there's a certain style & grace that is needed to result in happy experiences. Things that were ordered through referrals were not correct or were no longer available on the day of the event. I would recommend not using any referrals. People left the event early because it was freezing cold after we were told the heat would be on & available. Times were mixed up & communication was lacking. We expected a set-up person & clean-up people. Did not have either. Without family, this event would not have been the success it was. At the end of the night, we were being kicked out, even though we were given a set time to leave. Please be assertive when planning, to avoid issues like this. Do not assume anything you would expect to be obvious. Be CLEAR & CONCISE with the owners. Happy planning! read more

this is not a studio... its an event space with a distro box. if you are coming from LA or NYC, DO NOT USE THIS SPACE FOR A SHOOT. this place is seriously a joke for shoots. last time i was there, and thankfully the only time, we had talent on set and an employee was using a power saw to cut some wood. i politely asked her to stop while we had talent on set and she replied "but i only have one more cut." of course you do. most unprofessional place I've experienced. ps carry your piece if you are going here. better yet, carry your piece in your hand whilst walking to and from your car read more

It may be hard to miss depending on what direction you are coming from, I actually saw a gated parking area that said additional parking for Ambient Studio that made me realize I was in the right area. The space was huge, I loved that it was so spacious that I could move around and not say excuse me every few minutes. I went down some steps to enter into the building and went up the steps to get to the studo itself. I immediatly thought this would be a great space for a photo shoot, party (there was a desinated area for a DJ), which would be up some steps on a balcony. They had another room, for the event I went to, they used it for dressing rooms. The only reason that I could not give the studio 5 stars is the temperature, it was hot in there, like I said, we were not packed in like sardines, we could move around but I could not escape the fact that it was hot and I'm usually the one to complain about being cold. read more

This venue was so beautiful!! I coordinated a wedding there tonight and it was perfect for the bride and groom! Bride changed her mind about a few of the tables and all I had to do was talk to Paul and voila. They switched out the tables in minutes! Many of the guests came up to me to tell me how beautiful and spacious it was. Crew was awesome and so helpful from start to finish. Very professional and the turnaround for a response in communication is so fast! Love the farm tables, the lights, the backdrop, the curtains, the floors, the bridal suites... I could go on and on! The most important part was that the bride and groom were so happy! This is a definite must for a wedding and can't wait to coordinate another wedding at Ambient Plus Studios!! read more

Went for the Indie Craft market. This place is huge!

I had my wedding at Ambient on June 13th and we had the most amazing experience. I first picked Ambient because it was a beautiful large open space and perfect to hold both the ceremony and the reception without really having to do much of a flip (simply chairs were moved to tables after the ceremony and that was it!). The space is gorgeous filled with original hard wood floors, brick and large windows. The lighting is so great that even iphone pictures that were taken from guest at the wedding are beautiful. I also picked Ambient because they let you bring all your vendors in yourself and give you a lot of decorative freedom. Once chosen, Ambient was a breeze to work with. Geoffrey who is the manager of Ambient gives his cell phone number to you and is always willing to answer questions. I had an absolutely amazing experience. Thanks!! read more

whoaa this place is huge, tucked away in downtown ATL! hidden treasure it sure was!!! the place seems liked it can be turned into whatever your mind can dream up...and tonight it turned into a Yelpers playground...a playground that was fun, full of life and best of all...the bubbly people around!!! I bet some great videos, photo shoots have happened here....if you haven't had a chance to check out the hidden treasure...find the golden key...and it will def be your paradise creation...:) read more
