Made a reservation the day before, along with an order of the whole rotisserie duck all via their phone/AI system, went without a hitch! Plenty of street parking in the morning when we went for brunch at 1030am. There are inside and good size outdoor dining areas. The rotisserie duck was beautifully cooked and definitely the highlight of the meal even though the flavor was lacking. The other dishes (collard greens, sticky buns and Italian beef) were also about the same, they lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for. The prices also felt a bit high for the overall experience. The sauce and crispy duck come together for an addicting umami bite and was our fav dish of the evening, we should have ordered more since there were 5 in a dish. We also got the asparagus which was good with the crispy shallots and lemongrass curry sauce. The miss for us was the escargot gnocchi, as the gnocchi was a bit hard and chewy. Drinks were mixed nicely, the lemon poppyseed was balanced and velvety. The chocolate "beignet" was a nice way to finish the meal. Came back for a visit for their brunch menu and was very impressed with the sausage muffin which was delicious as well as the duck fat potatoes, perfectly flavored and crispy. We were not a fan of the grandmas sticky bun- first time came out cold, had to return it for them to warm it up again. When we finally got it fresh it was good for the first bite then it progressively became more and more salty and overly sweet. I'm sure it's great for someone who loves sweets but it was a bit overwhelming for us. Other wise service continues to be amazing and attentive, loved our waiter and service. I went to the Duck Inn for my birthday dinner on a Sunday night and had a wonderful time! Our server was sweet and very helpful with recommending the best dishes to try. Our favorites were the brown butter crumble brussel sprouts and the duck wings. I thought the whole roast duck was a little lack luster. $85 felt pretty steep a price for two breasts and two legs plus only like six small wedges of duck fat potatoes and a salad. The star of the show was definitely the fois gras crème brûlée. On first glance, it's a confusing combination but the it works perfectly. The fat from the fois gras makes the dish even more creamy and rich with a slightly salty, decadence that would win over any food critic. I fell in love eating it, and am still thinking about it days later. The ambiance of the Duck Inn is fancy/casual. The servers are all wearing jeans and t shirts (more or less) but the vibe is fancy and stylish. You can really wear anything (except maybe pajamas) and fit right in. I really enjoyed the layout of the space, with lots of tables and a nice bar space at the front. The vinyls were a lovely touch in the lowlight of the night. Overall, I would give the Duck Inn 4.5 stars. The only thing really pulling them down was the roast duck because I just didn't think it was worth the price. The portion of the duck wing and duck hash was significantly larger than expected (I had originally imagined more of a shredded/chopped meat situation lol), and it was incredibly flavorful with a really well balanced flavor profile. Being in Pilsen was also a plus -- easy street parking and perfect for a nice post-brunch digestive walk around the neighborhood afterward. The only slight downside is that they don't offer any regular menu items during Restaurant Week. We had hoped to add a side salad and maybe dessert, but there were no additional side options available, which means we'll have to come back another time! We both did the $30 brunch and we started with the buttermilk biscuit with duck fat butter and house jam. The biscuits were quite small but they were moist, and it paired really well with the duck fat butter. For our second course, we had the duck wings and cheese curds. The duck wings were dressed in Japanese bbq sauce which had amazing flavor. I was pleasantly surprised by the cheese curds, they tasted very light and I loved the aioli it came with. For our main dishes, we shared the Duck Hash and Egg McDuckInn. The portions for both dishes were very generous. The duck skin on the duck hash was perfectly crispy and the duck was very tender and moist. Paired with sweet potato hash and scrambled eggs, it made the perfect dish. The Egg McDuckInn was also a very flavorful sandwich, especially paired with the black pepper maple aioli and griddled onions. We were both very satisfied with these dishes. We were able to make a reservation the day before so I thought the restaurant wouldn't be super busy, but it was actually packed! The soft-scrambled eggs and hollandaise sauce that came in the hash were delightful and complemented the duck very well. Stopped for a drink on the 4th. After looking at the drink menu, I asked the price of a martini. I was told $19! Come on! When I questioned the person at the bar mentioned context (a bar) and the high price of limes (a non sequitur). My husband and I travel a lot and frequently order martinis and the Duck Inn's price is higher than all but the high end spots so far. We left not willing to pay the price. I understand it is hard to run a restaurant but, let's keep things in bounds. One can buy a large bottle of Sapphire at a local liquor store or Costco for under $30. Normally, I can't stand horseradish but the mildness went with the dish. The wild mushroom and barley was delicious and hearty. Finally got around to checking out The Duck Inn with friends, after many a trip to town. We originally planned to attend the last Luau of the season the end of September (a mishmash of Hawaiian and Oktoberfest apparently), but after sitting down and seeing what was left available, I suggested we move inside for the duck instead. I did not regret this maneuver one bit. We waited for a table by grabbing some delicious cocktails at the bar, and when we sat down not much later, we were greeted warmly by our server. We got a few things to share including the Huitlacoche Gnocchi (Perfection! Could easily scarf two of these alone without shame or regret); the Roasted Carrots (Flavor & Texture!); and the Rotisserie Duck. The restaurant namesake was certainly delicious, and we picked it entirely apart. I will note that the other items featured in the description at the time were more accents, rather than substantive components, so order accordingly. (I would recommend adding some of the delicious fries thereafter like we did). The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and our server was quick with both wit and ideas. It was a great night. Honestly, nothing warms you up better than Duck Hash with soft scrambled eggs, or a McDuckin breakfast sandwich with an oozy egg yolk and duck fat potatoes. Sumptuous and satisfying. Ok, the smoked old fashioned nestled in ice ,smelling of burnt autumn leaves, kicked me back to my childhood on the Southside of Chicago, when you could still burn leaves in the fall.
