I haven't tried their ice cream truck in awhile and we randomly wanted to find it and try it! They were sold out of doughcones but the ice cream sundae was sooo good and hit the sweet spot! Will definitely visit more now that the weather is warming back up.

Cute and casual food truck that's definitely a treat whether it's a hot Houston day or it's a cold spell . They offer milkshakes, sundaes, banana splits and their signature thick and chewy dough cone. Don't forget the various mix-ins and toppings, and guess what the ice cream is vegan too!! Today I tried the ice sundae with toasted coconut, chocolate sauce and chocolate/mint pieces

Of all the ice cream dessert trucks floating around in Houston, there are none quite like The Doughcone, figuratively and literally. They've been in operation for just under a decade and have established themselves as one of the most unique and "cool" businesses on wheels. They've certainly amassed the popular vote, in terms of reviews and brand awareness, which only gets heightened as this weather gets hotter. The concept is simple: donut cones filled with soft serve ice cream and customized to one's liking. The cones are baked individually and the ice cream is actually vegan. No matter what the combination is, it's always visually impressive and is as convivial as it is edible. There are so many toppings that I've yet to try them all. There are some typical toppings one would see at an ice cream shop (sprinkles, chocolate chip, fruity pebbles, crushed oreos, etc.) and there also some more unique choices such as Belgian chocolate chips, churro dust, and biscoff cookie butter. There are also some premium (#1) choices that include praline pecans, toasted marshmellows, hazelnut cappuccino wafers, and whipped cream. Want a tip? Check-in on Yelp and score a free premium topping. When the weather is hot, the soft serve melts super quick, so I would recommend the obligatory food photo-op and then immediately diving in. I've had a stale cone here and there, but it's bound to happen. These creations are going to be pricey for the average ice cream goer, but if there's any ice cream spot to splurge on, it's definitely something like The Doughcone. Lastly, I want to thank the people in the truck for always being friendly, welcoming, and their willingness to answer all the questions. I also appreciate that each cone is served inside a cup to keep the stickiness at bay. They are a credit / debit only business and they're in a different part of the city almost at all times. Peep their social media for their up-to-date location and fingers crossed it's near wherever you are. ____________ (#1) i.e. costs extra.

Loved this ice cream truck!! Grabbed a small cup while at the 713 night market. The staff was super friendly and they worked so quickly despite such a huge line. My sundae was just as delicious as it looked! I'm a big chocolate person and this definitely satisfied my chocolate craving. (The small cup was a lot more packed than I thought!) The dough is unique and super tasty. Hope to run into them again for another bite. :)

I checked out this place at Buffalo Bayou in the food truck park off Sabine St. I tried their rainbow Pride cone and it was such a cool idea! I got the secret topping of the day, sprinkles, peanuts, M&M's, and pecan praline (extra). Added the secret sauce of the day which added the perfect complement to this loaded ice cream cone. The owner Avi was super friendly and came over to talk while I waited on my order. This is such a great attribute that really stands out to me among any restaurant or business. I got to learn more about what Dough Cone does and some of the local restaurants they make ice cream for! I look forward to trying more of Dough Cone's ice creams and flavors! Definitely will be checking out their ice creams via the local restaurants as well!

Cool idea and yummy snack. They had little cups for the pups, too! You can pick a sundae or cone with a sauce and unlimited toppings. They're knowledgeable about topping combinations, though you'll have to ask. They also have a secret sauce that changes periodically (today was honey). The cone was almost like a doughnut but more firm - kind of hard to eat, totally worth the effort !!! Yummy treat, I couldn't make a habit of eating these (ha!) but great for a hot day, date, etc. And wishing they had more preset options for the indecisive customers (me!!). Great concept for a food truck, always happy when they show up at my apartment complex

Tried this ice cream truck at a private event. Menu and portions were different than their regular options. I got a vanilla cup with chocolate drizzle and some sort of cake or cookies dough inside. The ice cream was very good but I didn't really cared about the cookie dough because it was hard. Te portions were good for such a big group/event. Will come back to try their regular menu .

Service was awesome and friendly. Doughcones are not to be missed if you have a sweet tooth.

If I could eat here everyday I would. It's soooo good. My favourite dessert truck in Houston

We reserved their ice cream truck to come to our office today. How fun and delicious! It was a huge hit for everyone and absolutely the perfect pick me up we needed for this dreary Thursday! We had mini cones (don't let that fool you, they were still huge), Nutella or cookie butter lined inside the cone and then unlimited toppings! I hate myself for eating it all but I love them for bringing this delicacy right to me :)

    Cathy S.

Ice cream + doughnut + churro? Yes please! Could you really ask for a better combo? This is pretty much the love child of all three. It's a simple menu, choose your size and choose your toppings. I went for the signature which is a regular sized doughcone with soft serve and unlimited toppings. The service was quick and the cone was fresh and warm. Overall, it was a great experience. I do wish they had different soft serve flavors, but the only flavor they have is vanilla.

Tasty ice cream with a lot of topping options available. The dough of the doughcone tastes like dough (rather than something specific like a doughnut or cookie), but is tasty. The doughcone held up well to holding the ice cream and toppings.

Gross! The Don't cone! Gross and dough tastes stale. Not worth the price by any means. Neither of my kids would eat it.

That alone made the experience feel thoughtful and welcoming. They are also open late, which I loved. I had already dined in the area, so this ended up being the perfect post dinner treat. I have been here before, but it had been a long time, and it was great to return and enjoy it again. The ambience was warm and inviting, and the overall environment made it easy to relax and enjoy the moment. I ordered a kid's cup, and it was honestly the perfect amount. Anything larger would have been too much for me, so the price point felt very fair for the portion and quality. I also tried the macaron and the tea. Both were fine but nothing standout for me. I have had better macarons and better tea elsewhere, and as someone who really appreciates good tea, it was decent but not something I would go back for specifically. That said, the gelato alone is absolutely worth returning for and even making a drive for. The space itself is very small and cozy, more of a boutique style spot. It is ideal for individuals, couples, or very small groups. Larger groups may prefer to enjoy their treats outdoors around the plaza and then move along, as this is more of a grab and go or short stay kind of place. Overall, I would definitely be back. The gelato is truly the star here and well worth it.

You may order online, in shop through a tablet, or with a person at the register. We used the register because we did not see the tablet and did not want to order ahead online. The ladies who helped us on our visit were very nice. You get a number and they call it when your made to order food is ready. We did not have to wait long. There was medium to low noisy ambiance. It was deserted when we arrived, but they have relatively loud background music. While we were eating it got pretty crowded. Mostly a lot of young people in the middle of the day on a Monday. The inside is small, seating both inside and outside are limited and close together. One lady was studying with her laptop, but there are no plugs. The breakfast sandwich is customizable. We got it on a croissant and with sausage. The eggs had a unique texture and the sandwich a unique flavor that we could not place, but both were very tasty. We also wanted a crepe, but we split the sandwich and it was sufficient. We also got a small mocha and a decaf, both were ok to good. We would definitely come back again and recommend that you give them a try for a crepe or sandwich. It is sad that a few Yelpers brought down their average to 3.8 stars due to petty and unjustified complaints such as having to pay for parking downtown. Other complaints are not the business' fault such as periodic homelessness--it is a downtown area in the US, other cities have far worse homelessness than Midtown Houston and we saw none on this visit. Additionally, complaints about takeout orders are mostly petty. Takeout is never as good as eating at the restaurant and so customers should adjust their expectations rather than dock the business stars. Nearly every recent Yelp review for this who ate at the restaurant gave 4-5 stars for food quality and customer service. Like most of the restaurants in this area it is a pretentious yuppy style place with specialized food. Although not usually our type of place (we like down to earth hole in the wall places with good food or taco truck type restaurants), Coco's is a solid 4 star restaurant for the type of place they are and they offered a 5 star experience on our visit. Again, recommend you give them a try if you are in the mood for crepes or sandwiches.

Both were very good. As for food, we ordered a Chicken Breakfast Sandwich(pictured), Cinnamon Roll Crepe (Pictured), Dulce De Leche Crepe with Almonds and Strawberries (pictured), and a strawberry cheesecake crepe (not pictured but looked like a normal crepe with powdered sugar). My favorites were the strawberry cheesecake and the cinnamon roll. My girlfriend's favorite was the Dulce De Leche and the strawberry cheesecake. Neither one of us cared for the breakfast sandwich too much, not sure if it was the wheat bread or the flavorless chicken. A couple of days ago we came back to try a couple of white mocha's and the breakfast sandwich again but with the Moroccan Sausage. We have determined-the breakfast sandwich will not be ordered anymore. But again the drinks were good. Overall, we will be back. The staff is nice, the drinks are good and so are the Crepes.
