Holy CRAP this place is BAD. I went and there was seriously NO ONE there. The owner was there & he was hella creepy & hovering. It was like he didn't want folks there. He was hovering over both me & the one guy on staff (the bartender was this lovely chap named Tikku I believe) who was awesome & this review note is not about him. I went in after seeing a movie & just wanted a quiet dram of scotch & to write a little bit in my notebook. The owner was so odd & made things terribly uncomfortable. I felt unwelcomed. It was so creepy & odd for what was supposed to be a quiet little drink & I can tell why this place is not getting business when it's like that. I felt judged immediately when the owner got there. What a cool place! The staff were very attentive and eager to answer questions and teach my date and I about different types of whiskey. Anthony talked to us for a bit about different styles and what we both liked (we didn't really know) so he brought out a flight that had a wide variety of different tastes. He also taught us how to acclimate with the first sip so the rest of the tastes wouldn't be so harsh and you can focus on the flavor. Sam also stopped by a few times to point out his favorites and help us with pronunciation. The place is filled with cozy seats and couches with a fireplace. It felt like a mix between a lodge and an old study. We were just there for drinks but got a side of fries which were great. They came topped with an herb cheese that we weren't expecting and I really enjoyed them. The rest of the menu looked really good and I'd love to try dinner sometime. It was a good first date spot- we both came out feeling like we learned something and the whiskey made great conversation. I'll definitely be back! read more

I struggled when writing this review, because I wanted this place to be great given how much money I spent here. I settled on two stars because, to be honest, there are some great things about the space, but also major drawbacks. Selling point: the selection of whiskey is the best I have ever seen. However, you can get the same selection online and host a private party with the money that you would have spent on "membership" here (which consists of buying a bottle and keeping it in a locker). Hell, you could start your own business with the amount of money they try to get you to spend in this place. Drawback #1: the price. My friend and I between the two of us had only three "flights" of whiskey, with three TINY pours each, plus an order of flat bread. The bill was an eye-popping $180 including a 20% service charge. The bill was grossly excessive; not having an option on the tip would be o.k. if they were waiting on me hand and foot, but they weren't. My reaction to the service charge was: what service are they talking about? It was minimal, and limited to when I wanted to spend more money...go figure. Drawback #2: the prices of the whiskey bottles required for membership. Why do I have to spend $450 on a bottle of whiskey that costs at most $75? I know they have to make money, but why do they have to make so much money off me? Can't they just charge a monthly fee and reduce the costs of the bottles appropriately? Drawback #3: it's great that they invited me to try out the members-only lounge when I was not a member and just meeting a friend there. But the lounge smells like a men's locker room, no joke. Drawback #4: there are some weird plaster friezes in the space, including a very obviously sexual one near the restroom that looked like it belonged in a medieval brothel. This is not somewhere I can invite co-workers or guests. That greatly diminishes the value of the obscene prices being charged here. So, this is basically a men's club that's open to the public, charges outrageous prices, has at best average service, and has no parking. Definitely a two-star establishment despite some of the promising aspects of it. read more

It's a high end establishment that's intended to bring clients, co-workers, meet friends and do whiskey tastings. I have had nothing but positive experinces here. Marco is possibly one of the best bartenders I have ever encountered. He knows how to make a well balance cocktail with fantastic ingredients. Anthony is a great manager-kind, considerate and personable. Jackson and Sam know their whiskeys and are eager to tell you what they like, but also point you in the right direction to try things you may have not considered before. And the owner actually knows how to make a cocktail as he literally made me one 3 nights ago while his staff was on break. Side Note-I recommend trying their truffle vodka dirty martini if you're not wanting to drink whiskey. It's fantastic and super unique. The bottle prices are high. And yes, there is a 20% gratuity added to your bill. But you're in a whiskey bar in Beverly Hills. With 3 fireplaces, leather seats and wood tables. With over 1,000 whiskey selections and frequent tastings for members and friends. You're buying an experience and a place to bring people together. Plus, instead of purchasing a bottle for $50+ at a liquor store, you can try flights to see if you like something or not. You can have a tasting with a group of friends. Everyone I have brought with me there has loved their experience and asks me.to bring them back or purchases their own bottle and becomes a member. Give them a chance. I came here on a Friday night with a girlfriend and had one of the best times I have had in Los Angeles. If you love to sit on comfortable leather couches and sip top-shelf whisky by the fire, you will love this place. We came for a drink and ended up staying a few hours. Went there with some friends and was immediately interrogated by a rude man asking if we are members. My friend is a member at the sister lounge at Saddlepeak Lodge. The host was not pleasant to the point I thought he knew my friend and was kidding around. My friend said he was a member at the other location and we walked to the back patio. The host had already seated our wives and they already had water on the table for them. Without checking my friend's membership he proceeded to kick us out. He didn't check the membership status at all. Anyway, the other big red flag was the seated guests indoors eating dinner and having drinks. What? Membership includes dis-obeying the LA County mandate? Two red flags. I'd stay away from this place and the very rude host. There are so many other really nice places that have respectful people working. We work too hard to be disrespected by inconsiderate people. Maybe a call the the LA County Dept of Public Health is in order so more people don't get potentially very ill from blatantly ignoring the COVID-19 mandates. read more

We only saw him once more for the rest of our time there (2 hours), and had to place additional orders through the bus-boy. It wasn't even crowded that night. The prices are outrageous, and they skimp on the whiskey. I've had plenty of whiskey tastings, and they're all pretty consistent with how much they give you. But at DB I barely got 2 sips worth of whiskey in each glass. We got the check and discovered Double Barrel adds a MANDATORY 20% gratuity to the order! Heard about The Double Barrel from a very good friend of mine who was working at their Calabasas location which was my first encounter of this whisky bar of this magnitude. Calabasas is a bit for for me to go for a drink so when I heard about its second location in Beverly Hills, I just had to pay a visit. Owner Deep, is very nice and hospitable, so it only right that his staff is just the same. This whisky bar is different from all others I've been to. It's exclusive in the manner that membership is highly encouraged in order for any whisky enthusiast to truly bask in its glory with walls covered with full cabinets ranging from bourbon to scotches flavor profiles from corn to heavily peated liquid gold. Not sure of what your flavor profile is, that's not a problem, their friendly staff will help you select the perfect dram. If you don't like something, be honest and the staff will do what they can to rectify it. I've been to this location a few times and although my friend from the Calabasas location isn't here, the staff is just as hospitable and easy to talk to. Both the manager Anthony and spirit guide Andrew are knowledgeable with their suggestions as they do take time to get to know guests and their flavor profile. Took my friend here for a Saturday night hangout thinking we were going to have to go elsewhere for food after, but they actually serve some pretty tasty dishes. My dad got me a membership at the Saddle Peak Lounge location this year, in May, and I have since been so impressed by not just the quality of what they offer in terms of spirits, food etc. but with the service as well. I was happy to see that Anthony, who previously was working at the Saddle Peak Lounge in Malibu, is now managing this location because he is so good at what he does. He is very knowledgeable about whiskey (even gave my whole family a history lesson when we first met him) and extremely hospitable. My first time to this newly opened restaurant. Great decor. Leather seating with fireplaces. Great place to take a group of friends or a romantic date. The menu is still a work in progress with regards to the amount of choices but what they do have is really a nice different take on the American food experience. I ordered the Portabella mushroom fries along with the nicely seasoned Brussel sprouts. For my entrée I had the short rib steak. Everything was very good. I even met Chef Draino who came to check on me. The bartender Marco is also a professional. They came up with an assortment of crafty cocktails. No complaints at all and I hope to see them succeed. The Double Barrel is by far the best whiskey bar in the LA area. Sam and Jackson are the most knowledgeable guys around when it comes to whiskey and scotch. Jackson's knowledge of Japanese single malts and whiskeys is awesome and Sam's knowledge of scotch and whiskeys is off the charts. Sam promised me by the end of the night that I would have my bottle of choice and even though it wasn't a scotch he did get me into a great bourbon. So Sam.....job well done. You also got my buddy into his new scotch of choice. So job well done there as well. I also appreciated that they did not just try and sell you the most expensive stuff but they actually listened to you and did their best to dial you in and by the end of the night you weren't drinking the most expensive stuff but something that you fell in love with. Had a horrible experience at Double Barrel. First off , I am a member of the Double Barrel at the Saddle Peak Lodge . To become a member you have to purchase a bottle of Wiskey which I did in 2019 and kept it at the bar . Decided to take some friends for an after dinner drink and cigars to the Beverly Hills location and after calling was invited to come. We took two ubers ( wives in one and husbands in the other ). Wives arrived first and owner Deep S showed them to the back tables that were adjacent to a fireplace . The girls sat and received four waters while waiting for us to arrive . Upon arrival we walked in and encountered the owner Deep S who also showed us to the table. I asked where the bathrooms were and he pointed me in the direction . The Restaurant was poorly lit and being almost blind I had a very difficult time negotiating to the restroom . Unfortunately, the Restaurant and specifically the bathrooms were not ADA compliant . As a matter of fact there was no soap or paper towels to wash which I also pointed out for COVID protocol. I noticed there were people sitting in the Resturant eating which is against the state of California's mandate . After I made it back to my table the owner came over and turned off our fireplace and asked us to leave . He claimed we weren't members and admitted I was in 2019 . Didn't explain the rules or ask us to comply which we would have if there was a requirement ( which there is not ). When we questioned the owner he became angry and confrontational calling my Asian friend " white trash " (lol) and later called me on the phone to make an anti Semitic remark . He obviously didn't want us there and could have handled with grace and class . Unfortunately, after many years since I was a child going to Saddle Peak I would never go back and or patronize during this ownership! Too bad given the horrific times . read more

Discovered this place a few weeks back and was thoroughly impressed. This tavern offers a classy experience with an element of sophistication that whiskey connoisseurs (and non- connoisseurs) can truly appreciate. The menu is extensive featuring different types of whiskeys from around the world. It's not crowded at all, which is rare in Los Angeles for a place of its kind.
