Custom curated flight, just for us!
    Chris D.

What a cool place! The staff were very attentive and eager to answer questions and teach my date and I about different types of whiskey. Anthony talked to us for a bit about different styles and what we both liked (we didn't really know) so he brought out a flight that had a wide variety of different tastes. He also taught us how to acclimate with the first sip so the rest of the tastes wouldn't be so harsh and you can focus on the flavor. Sam also stopped by a few times to point out his favorites and help us with pronunciation. The place is filled with cozy seats and couches with a fireplace. It felt like a mix between a lodge and an old study. We were just there for drinks but got a side of fries which were great. They came topped with an herb cheese that we weren't expecting and I really enjoyed them. The rest of the menu looked really good and I'd love to try dinner sometime. It was a good first date spot- we both came out feeling like we learned something and the whiskey made great conversation. I'll definitely be back!

Amazing experience.excellent service superb attention to detail.unbelievably selection of spirits

One of the best whisky selections I have ever seen. They have an extremely knowledgeable staff to discuss the most intricate details or even to guide the novice drinker. I went there with my girlfriend who doesn't like whisky and after a brief conversation, they found one she absolutely loved. I've been looking forward to going back ever since. I told my parents about my experience and they're planning their visit here.

Since I never watch that kind of 'stuff', that connection meant nothing to me. However, now that it's been sold to the purveyors of a successful Venice bar lounge, Roosterfish moved up quickly on our gaydar for a visit during PRIDE weekend. It was upbeat and loud but surprisingly not off-putting. That has a lot to do with the century-old Mediterranean olive trees in the massive open-air courtyard in the middle. Even wrapped in colorful fairy lights, the trees breathe life into the space even with a huge disco ball hanging from the canopy. The dance floor was fairly crowded and pulsating like crazy, but the surrounding tables weren't as coveted. There were plenty of bartenders during PRIDE, so there was no wait for drink orders. The Tequila Sunrises were on the high side at $20 given the plastic cups (Photo), but they gave us the requisite kick. There are rumors that Jamie and I may have been on the dance floor when the DJ was playing Erasure. I will neither confirm nor deny it. The rooftop atmosphere is the highlight, it has that perfect indoor/outdoor vibe, It's definitely a hotspot, especially in the evenings when hotel guests and locals come in to grab drinks, relax, and enjoy the lounge atmosphere. The food was really good, the drinks were great, and the service was outstanding. We ordered the hamachi, carne asada tacos, fries, and a barbacoa quesadilla. Everything was delish! Our server was genuinely so friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. There is only valet available and it gets pretty packed at night. This is definitely a hot spot for a meet up with friends. Highly recommend for the overall vibes.

The host, Adam, was so welcoming and helpful throughout the evening, checking to make sure we were enjoying our food and drinks, even moving us to a different table since our original one was in a wind tunnel blowing up our dresses. I got two cocktails: 1) the special True Colors cocktail in celebration of Pride Month, with proceeds going to the LGBT Center! It had Tequila, Yuzu, Lychee, Passionfruit, topped with a Hibiscus Mezcal Float and a piece of Rainbow Sour Candy. It was refreshing, delicious, and absolutely gorgeous! 2) the Cosmopolitan: made with Grey Goose Vodka, Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao, and cranberry. It was pretty tasty, not exactly like a traditional Cosmo and had a bit of a bite to it, but good enough that I got two. My friend and I shared the guacamole which was a pretty decently sized portion and came with a big basket of chips. We also got the Weho Choco Tacos and they were delectable! It's a bit pricey with drinks ranging from $22-$26, but that's to be expected in Weho and especially on Sunset Boulevard. Just something to keep in mind. The crowd was also so nice! We made friends with the couple sitting next to us and watched the end of the NBA finals together on one of their phones. I also met some nice girls in the bathroom and we had a long conversation about the best clothes to pack for a trip to Europe. Everyone was there to have a good time and it showed!

We stopped by on a Monday around 8pm and it was surprisingly quiet at first, but before long people started walking in for Trivia Night and the atmosphere became much livelier. OR Bar has a really stylish, welcoming vibe. The black and gold decor, artwork, and chandeliers give it an upscale feel. I also like that it's more than just a nighttime spot. During the day, people come in to work, enjoy coffee, and just hang out, which gives it a nice neighborhood vibe. I ordered an Angry Orchard Cider and my friend ordered one of their Espress-OR Martinis. It looked great but it was strong! If you are an espresso martini fan who likes this style of drink, you will probably enjoy it. There are metered spaces behind the bar and there is also residential street parking nearby if you pay attention to the posted signs. Overall, this was a fun find and I can definitely see why it has become a neighborhood favorite. I would come back to try more of the cocktails and experience another Trivia Night.

We easily found a place to sit on the shaded outdoor dining area, all the time people were going inside the adjacent dining and dancing area for one of the Abbey's famous drag shows. I ordered the guacamole bacon cheeseburger with fries and my guest had the Philly Cheesesteak. My burger was cooked perfectly and looked great. The fries were fair, nothing to write home about. My guest loved his Philly Cheesesteak and it brought memories of the last time he ordered one more than a decade earlier. It's only fair that I mention the conduct of one of thr employees who appears to be a host. There was an ethnic couple (probably middle eastern) siting at the table next to us, dining and enjoying their meal, when this employee approached them and singled them out because of their ethnicity. He fawned all over them, loudly, apparently trying to be welcoming, all the while addressing them as "you people" and "we are open to people like you dropping in for a gold time." While he clearly wanted to be nice, he came off as condescending and racists and was very annoying to my guest and me and people at another table who muttered "what an idiot." On the positive sign the middle eastern couple didn't appear to be annoyed but, still, that's not the way first time guests should be addressed. We dropped in on the drag show after lunch but all seats were taken so we decided not to stand in the corner and watch. Getting smart, especially a good seat means arriving about an hour before the show. Today's show began at 1:30 pm. There are nearby parking lots, pricy and neighborhood parking if one can tolerate a moderate walk. The Abbey is an ice place to go, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Traveled about an hour from where I was staying in Huntington Beach... I believe there was a drag show that night, not 100% sure; either way, you know the vibes.
