My perspective comes from the vantage point of the front row of the upper level during the clipse home for the holidays show. There are plenty of parking options for your preference of garage, lot, or on the street. They have metal detectors and a typical small bag policy when entering. The sound, video, and lighting provided an unforgettable stimulating experience. The first floor was set up for mainly general admission with a few rows of elevated seating in the back. The upper level enabled easier access to bathrooms and a bar since there are way less people and more seats. Prices for food and drink are typically high as expected with any show or event nowadays. I had a tequila mix drink that was served inside of an ice shaker for 22 bucks. If your favorite artist is on the calendar at this venue do not hesitate to cop those tickets.

I didn't order food here. The dome was actually so simple for Pharrell's style. I was expecting better for the inside but maybe the VIP area is better from other people's pictures. I did however like they had seating in general admission for my old self. My legs can't do it anymore. It was well organized and security everywhere . I hope to return for a better experience . But overall it was nice.

I know a lot of Virginia Beach residents are curious abut this new venue so here are our recent experiences. We have attended two events here now, the Pat Benatar concert and the Dispatch/G Love concert. For the first we were up on the top floor in an assigned seat, for the second we were on the floor. At this venue the floor area is either one giant pit, or they move chairs in- the artists decide what the lay out will be. Our experience on the floor was that it was wide open- a giant pit essentially. Acoustics in this venue are outstanding. They clearly took a lot of time and sound engineering expertise when they planned this venue. On top and down below we felt immersed in the music without being deafened from sheer bass. The facility is constructed beautifully- you feel as if you're going in for a night at the theatre when you first enter. The permanent chairs upstairs were quite comfortable. There IS a lawn area, but it wasn't open at either show we attended so can't speculate on the quality of it. Bars! There are full bars on all floors, you're not limited to beer stands, which is very nice. The food offerings at these bars is lacking considerably, though. rock-hard "soft" pretzels, overcooked hot dogs, and poorly salted popcorn does not a meal make- eat before you come! As for drinks, there's a nice selection of canned drinks- both alcoholic and nonalcoholic and they're priced okay. The mixed drinks are overpriced but they always are at these kinds of venues. I thought my vodka sodas were considerably watered down, and wouldn't order mixed drinks there again. One big plus, they offer coffee! I know that might not be enticing for many, but its rare to find coffee at a concert venue. Check in process was easy both times, they were not high attendance events though so I know that next time it may not be quite as smooth. There are a TON of employees- greeters, ticket takers, security, rolling people in quickly and efficiently, though. One complaint here about this facility- they do not allow re-entry. Like a nightclub in the 90s, if you leave to grab your forgotten glasses from your car or to greet your late arriving friend, you're not getting back in. I suppose I get it from a security standpoint, but I suspect this is more to ensure no one takes a nip from a hidden car bottle because they want you to purchase those bar drinks. Speaking of cars- the adjoining parking garage is convenient but the price is ridiculous. $20 to park for a 3 hour concert in a lot that offers hourly parking at all other times isn't cool. I still prefer the amphitheater, I enjoy tailgating beforehand, having the freedom to walk around and chat with friends up on the lawn during shows, and the wider variety of food options- BUT one huge plus the Dome has over it (besides those amazing acoustics!) is you're not going to ever get rained out here. We will return!

Smaller venue but super nice inside. Drinks were good but kind of expensive as expected ($22). They had a lot of staff. There are several bars throughout.

Well the venue is still very new. Was told by staff tonight was their 5th event. Of course our first visit here. I will have to say the wifey and I have attended maybe 300 different shows over our years together and God only knows at how many different venues. So with all that to consider I say The Dome is a really nice place. First lets a talk parking. There is a 4 story parking garage right next door. Easy couple minute walk to the main door. Now I will say this - $20 for parking at an event is kinda steep. Events in Richmond and Charlottesville are not normally this high. So that was the one slightly negative thing. The show we seen was a comedy performance. So I can't talk sound for a concert but for a show, it was just right. Very clear and no reverb. Same with the lighting, can't say much because it wasn't that type of show but the side lighting next to the stage and the stage itself was very nice looking. Let talk staff: very very friendly and helpful. I will also say there was a ton of them. Not sure if this how they will proceed or something because it's so new. We did not buy drinks so can't say much. But from a distance looks like the bars are well stocked. So with this all said, I'm sure we will be back.

Floor view when people showed up you couldn't see the stage at all

The floor seating sucks! There are no screens either so unless you are over 6foot you can't see anything. The drink prices are crazy 2 shots and 2 mixed drinks cost $100. There is almost no food options and the $9 pretzel was worse then the microwaveable frozen ones at Food Lion.

A brand new, beautiful new venue in Virginia Beach. Easy deck parking $2/hr paid in advance. Valet parking also available. The remainder is the venue is opening later this summer but a wonderfully sized venue! All of the staff were very friendly and the bathrooms were spotless. The women's restroom had a ridiculously long line but the line moved very quickly. A great night!!

What an amazing venue really had a great time. Everything was brand spanking new, which made it really nice. The staff was super helpful. The bathrooms had more than enough stalls so that the lines moved through very quickly. Will definitely be looking for shows here.

I had the pleasure of seeing Whiskey Myers at The Dome, the new venue at the Oceanfront. Getting there was a breeze. Our Uber dropped us right at the entrance by the security lines. Friends who've driven mentioned that parking across the nearby garages is also easy, so that's good to know! We picked up our tickets at will call and went through security check, both a breeze. Inside, I was immediately struck by the venue's design. The long hallway entry was a hit for photos. The main merch area and a large bar (also selling concessions) were within easy reach as you walk in, which was nice to grab what you need when you walk in. The floor area had two additional bars on both sides, and there looked to be more bars outside on the lawn. We were lucky enough to access the upstairs "dressing room" area thanks to some friends in the band, which gave us an amazing view of the show and private amenities (always a win). The plus to that was that we also had seats down on the main floor. We were in row J and the view was amazing. We continued to go back and forth from the backstage area, and our seats. The venue's acoustics were great, whether you were up close or upstairs. Big shout out to the staff, who worked tirelessly to keep the floors from getting slick on this incredibly humid night, which was impressive to see. I'm already looking forward to more shows at The Dome. This spot is for sure going to become one of my favorite spots for live music at the beach!

Ask the Community - The Dome

Where is parking for large trucks (mega cab pickup)? City doesn't seem to think about ensuring ALL vehicles can park. Offer events but not plan accordingly.

Yes I agree they never account for parking . They do have street parking near the Atlantic park and also have a parking garage which I have seen some trucks going in there , on the side of the Mi Vida restaurant .

    Parking at the dome?

Yes - right next to the venue is a 3 or 4 story city garage.

I didn't frequent Peabody's since I have never been a person who loves dancing or DJs. Also, I was outside of Peabody's target demographic of 18-24 year-olds. This was during my "bitter chick rock" phase that still rears its head now and then, and one of my favorite bitter chick bands was L7! I saw their show at Peabody's on April 15, 1997. It was a great venue for this raw, bitter, loud band with a house packed and standing room only of fans trying their best to make a mosh pit. I guess Hole was my second favorite bitter chick band. Back to the L7 show. Classified as grunge, punk, and metal, I think L7 is more chick punk. Their guitarist was unavailable this night, and they replaced her with a local Va Beach chick guitarist who did a great job. The locals recognized her, I didn't. Smoking was allowed inside, and this audience was pretty aggressive for the times, with a lot of college aged guys wearing backwards baseball caps. That's fine, until the guys use their ballcaps as weapons to poke me in the forehead and face to try to keep me out of their mosh pit making range. The goal of the audience was to get to stage front. The audience even resorted to using cigarette lighters to burn each others clothes. Who does this? This show was during "The Beauty Process" tour and the setlist was great with songs from previous CDs including "L7" and other previous music. Par for the course, during "Cat-O-Nine Tails," a guy in leather bondage was brought on stage and then whipped with a whip by Donita, the lead singer. I'm confident this was just a show, and the poor guy wasn't hurt. "The Masses are Asses" is another L7 tune I like. Why no fifth star? The bouncers were interesting. They waited for patrons to make their way to the stage and for the most part, escorted the patron to the door - kicking nearly each one out. The crowd was "elbow to elbow" making it clear it was difficult to just take an overly rowdy and rough patron from the center of the crowd to kick them out. Still, the bouncers were sophomoric, and should have managed the crowd better. I'm happy to have seen L7, I'm happy my party were hurt, and I'm happy Peabody's provided a sizeable venue for an alternative show in the late 90s!

There are not many places where you can hear hardcore rap on the oceanfront. In fact, I would say Hammerheads is the only place. So if you want to hear Nikki Ménage, Lil Wayne and Lil Wayne & Nikki Ménage non-stop, then this is the place to be. Aside from those two distinguishing features, Hammerheads is like any other bar on The Block: tiny and crowded. There's nothing spectacular here, just a place to go and get drinks. Still a locals favorite (mostly frequented during the winter when the parking is free and so is the cover), Hammerheads attracts a huge summer crowd of just turned 21s and other rowdy drunk folk. My experience with this place was over even before I got in. Me and a couple of friends wanted to check this place out as we were out of town. I went to have my ID checked by one of the bouncer, who examined it for nearly a minute. The bouncer asked that I confirm the address on my ID two times. After I gave him that, he asked for ANOTHER ID (ridiculous at this point). After giving him another ID for ANOTHER MINUTE, he asked for my address again. After I gave him the address again, he told me that he could not let me in, and insisted on keeping my original ID (which was my license). I had to get a police officer to come over and get my ID from the bouncer, so he can give it back to me. Even the police officer said that the picture on the ID looks like me. Absolutely appalling the things I had to go through with this bouncer. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone at all. It's obvious that this place discriminates on the patrons that try to get in. This was definitely one of the downfalls of my trip to Virginia.
