Love this store I have 12 granddaughters and 7great granddaughters and have given them all dolls from this store!

They took my Ideal Saucy Walker doll in July 2024 for a torso replacement. Now it's April 2026. Not only have they not fixed her, they removed a leg, probably to fix someone else's doll. I have no hope of ever seeing my beautiful little doll again. No responses to my messages. I paid $125 IN ADVANCE. Total ripoff! DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. read more

Took doll Saucy Walker doll in June 14 2025- Connie the owner, told me it would be done prior to Christmas- she has to send her out and that is why it would take her so long- Confirmed doll would have new clothes they would provide and new wig and the doll would be walking. It was my moms doll from the 50s and she wanted the doll to walk. I called Dec 18th asking if the doll would be ready by christmas- Spoke to owner Connie an she stated they are backed up and there was no where on the ticket that stated it would be ready by Christmas- called back to see if there was anything that can me down, she stated she hada worker fall on the ice and broke her log and it just wasn't possible. Told me it would be ready the first week of January. Called mid January- spoke to Connie again, stated the doll is in the room with 3 other Saucy dolls and they are working on them. She would call me- Feb 20 walked in and asked for doll, it wasn't ready saw doll, same condition as I brought her in. Feb 23 got a call and stated doll was done. doll did not have any clothes own, Connie stated she never told me she would put clothes on her- and wig was not redid, it did not look like my doll. my husband came and when we questioned her about the doll, she said we were aggressive and called the cops and they came. Employee of shop stated we were not aggressive and when I asked the employee if this was my doll she said probably not and that were civil lawsuits against the owner. I just finished restoring a doll for a client that was "professionally " restored at the doll cradle. They required full payment in advance, and had the doll for 11 months. The first pics are the condition in which it was returned to the client. The last 4 are of my restoration. Upon contacting the owner, she basically said that they could attempt to repaint it again, but because they try to make it look old, the results may not be any better. An employee of the shop suggested that the client find another restoration artist to fix her doll. Not only was it an amateur paint job, it was not restored. The eye cracks and some crazing are still visible through the paint. Rather than to actually repair them, they were just masked, which guarantees that they will open back up and worsen. There were some repairs made, but not done well. The cheeks have streaks of various colors and the arms and legs were poorly done. I find it unconscionable that the doll was allowed to be returned to the client in this condition, especially after she drove seven hours round trip to pick it up. It is an established shop, open for 54 years. This lends to the misguided perception that they have some idea of what they are doing. A reputable business at the very least would refund her payment in full. read more

I sent my 5 Madame Alexander dolls to the Doll Cradle to be cleaned and one needed to be restrung. These dolls are old. They were a gift from my father when I was a young girl. I gave $312.49 for a very unsatisfactory job. I am not happy with their cleaning. I called and the woman insisted their clothes had been steam cleaned. The clothes are still rumpled, have an odor, and stains. I understand old stains do not always come out; however, I was able to rub one of the stains out myself. One of the doll shoes was missing and the woman insisted they made a note of that but I see no documentation of it on the paper work I received back from the Doll Cradle. The woman I spoke with on the phone was rude and defensive. While I was explaining to her my complaints (I was polite and calm) she interrupted me and said, "Let me talk." The attitude she conveyed was "too bad you're not happy." She offered no compensation and abruptly hung up the phone. I am going to carefully clean the clothes myself. When I removed the clothes from one of the dolls, her arms fell off. I will have my husband, who can fix anything, repair it for me. I know the dolls can't look brand new again, but I was certainly expecting something better than what I got for $312.49. read more

I was hesitant to visit after reading other reviews, but I'm glad I did. The owner greeted me and was very pleasant. I was looking for something specific and although they didn't have it I found several items to purchase. On my second visit, the owner had saved an item for me because she remembered what I was looking for and it was perfect. This is a great place to visit if you enjoy dolls/doll collecting. You have to check this place out. It's amazing! I've never seen anything like it. Yes, it's a toy store- but it's soooo much more than that. It's like a museum too. Just an incredible experience! There are dolls from early America, dolls popular today, and every era in between. If you have a favorite doll from your childhood, they'll have it here. Certain dolls, like American Girls, are only sold at American Girl stores, but The Doll Cradle has clothing, shoes, and accessories to fit AG dolls- at very reasonable prices- as well as any other size doll you can imagine. The staff are nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. They also buy dolls and have a little doll 'hospital' on site. There's even an ambulance parked outside- the cutest thing! Even if you aren't into dolls, and I'm not really- I just went here with my doll obsessed daughter, you should still come see this place. It's a real experience- it's like a time capsule of dolls throughout history. They are lots of other stuffed toys too- bears, bunnies, etc. There are all price points here. My daughter got a little doll head pin for only $3. Plus, it's in Old Shawnee, which is such a cool part of town- filled with quaint little shops, stores showcasing local talents, an old fashioned theater and soda fountain, parks, and fun outdoor venues. My 85 year old mother has had her doll 'Judy' since she was 12. Sadly, Judy got thrown across the room shortly after Mom got her, and her face was cracked. I have never seen Judy whole, so when my kids moved to Shawnee and I saw The Doll Cradle, I decided I would have Judy repaired as an 85th birthday gift. I wish I had taken a 'before' picture of Judy with her cracked and peeling face, her missing fingers and toes...All I can show you is the beautiful result of her care at The Doll Cradle. read more

Called looking for a Bitty Baby. Was told they had some. Used of course but in good shape. Went into the store, saw the doll. very cute. No packaging, no original clothes. On Line these sell brand new for $60.00 through American Girl. I asked the price for the one The Doll Cradle had and she said $65.00. I gasped and said '65 for a used baby doll'? The person there put the doll back on the shelf and turned around to walk away. Didn't say anything. I asked her to please turn around and explain why this doll more than brand new ones. She said it was 'vintage'. Well vintage means something is at least 40 years old. Bitty Baby started in 1995, so this is NOT vintage. Further she was just so rude. I did tell her that she was just being so rude, but she didn't care. She didn't care to try and make a sell and didn't care how she treated me. Needless to say, I left. read more

Went to The Doll Cradle in Merriam on Johnson Drive on April 13, 2018 to buy a doll to sit on top of my bed. I purchased a Marie Osmond Fine Porcelain Collector Doll. The price was $125 plus $12 tax for a total of $137. My husband and I are the only residents of this house. The doll sits on my bed all day and I sit her on the chair in my office when I go to bed at night. This morning I brought the doll back to The Doll Cradle with an arm that had fallen off and the legs are not on so well either. The owner refused to do anything . No refund and no repair. She was very nasty and screamed at me to send the doll back to the manufacturer. She said the doll was cheap...made in China. Even though I had the receipt and original tag from the purchase. The tag says "made in Taiwan." I would also give this store no stars if possible. BUYER BEWARE! read more

What a wonderful place this is! I took my composition Patsy, or her look-a-like, to be restrung. They also cleaned her for me. They did an excellent job. She looks beautiful. I believe she dates back to the 1920s or very early 1930s. Around 100 years old so I wouldn't trust her to just anyone. I will be taking my 22 inch composition Shirley Temple in next. Her teeth are falling out! Poor dear. When I get inside this business, it is like wonderland to me. Takes me a while to get back out as I have to look at everything and still don't get it all looked at. Call ahead to get an appointment to have your doll looked at as the owner is busy and goes to doll shows and can be in and out. One more thing, prices here are varied as is the merchandise. So much so that I feel there is something for everyone here. By the way, I had no problem with the owner being rude to me. The opposite was true. My gift certificate was out of date and no longer in their log. They easily took it anyway and it had no date but was an old style. Like a not very recent old style! WARNING: Use extreme caution when choosing The Doll Cradle to repair your doll. They ruined my 60 year-old doll. They glued the eyes open instead of fixing them. They used hot-glue to hold the clothes in place and put the waist band of a skirt on inside out. They never notified me when the eyes were not able to be repaired and choose to glue them open.
