I can't believe there were no photos on the Yelp listing because this place is gorgeous! There is an on-leash area for dogs with trash cans and bags for puppy byproduct. Also, there's a paved path that twists and winds through the entire property. The park seems to be divided into several distinct areas. You'll find an open field, a large parking lot, an older playground with traditional play structures, then what looks to be a newer section with unique climbing structures and sculptures. It's a very cool place. The entire park is lined with trees, and because everything is bright and colorful from the fall foliage, it's quite a sight. The primary restrooms are closed for the season, but there was a porta-potty available for the public... though it's in desperate need of attention. Otherwise, this is a Five-star park.

There are water stations, but on May 2 the pumps were not working. Someone mentioned it may be due to nearby construction. Definitely bring your own water just in case. There are separate areas for large and small dogs, plus bathrooms near the front entrance. Parking is tight, especially with other activities going on like pickleball and kids' sports, but many people park along the street, which isn't a bad walk. Highly recommend.

After visiting Smith Rock State Park. we stumbled upon this wayside/overlook where you can enjoy…read morevertical basalt cliffs and secenic river canyon over the Crooked River in Oregon. This spot is on the boarder of the Deschutes and Jefferson counties. This stop is located just 9 miles North of Redmond or 26 miles from Bend on the US Route 97 where this a rest area and viewpoint with tons of parking. Facilities include restrooms, picnic tables and dramatic viewing of the Crooked River Canyon from the pathways or the bridge. For photographers this is an amazing place to get a shot of the Crooked River Canyon and surrounding areas. You can also walk across the historic Crooked River High Bridge just north of the park. Three historic bridges connect both sides of the canyon, unfortunately only one can be crossed today by pedestrians. Two of Oregon's tallest mountains- Mt Hood and Mt Jefferson are visible from the viewpoint on a clear day. Fun facts: the park was named in honor of Peter Skene Ogden who led the trapping parties of the Bay Company back in 1925. Worth a stop to take in the views and enjoy part of history!

Anyways onto the real reason we stopped, we went here at the end of August. Made our way here after Smith Rock which was only about 10-15 minute drive, it was a beautiful sunny day, the view was breathtaking both ways. They had bungee jumping on the bridge when we went so that kinda blocked a bit of the view but was really cool to watch.

This is a massive off leash Dog Park that is located on Awbrey Butte. It has a large number of…read moretrails that run through this park. The day I went there must have been about thirty people walking around and you would rarely run into any of them on the trails. There are many people traveling through this park on a regular basis, but like I said the park can withstand a good amount of traffic. Some of these trails seemed to lead to people's houses some lead to other parks. One of the trials had a little MT bike jump on it that almost resembled a pump track. I am not sure if parks and rec built the pump track or if it was just a social trail. But it was pretty cool, to say the least. There trail system is sort of laid out like a spider web as there are many little side trails that cut across each other and take you to different parts of the park. There is plenty of dirt or gravel parking from multiple areas and this park has some of the best views in town. The next time I need to take my dog for a run, I will be going to this park ASAP!

This is for the dog park: we were visiting Bend and wanted to give our pup a chance to blow of…read moresteam and play with other dogs. There is an area for smaller dogs, and an area for larger dogs. All is fenced in, and includes quite a few benches for humans to sit. My biggest gripe is that there is a dog bowl, but no way to fill it with water. Being high desert, I'd expect that there would be a way to get the dogs some water. Luckily I brought my own, and suddenly became really popular with all the other thirsty dogs begging for water. I realize that's a luxury, but with a dry climate, I guess I thought there'd be some way for them to stay hydrated. There are lots of trees, so the area is well shaded, but completely dirt.

Shevlin park is somewhere we would visit every summer growing up when visiting family in the area…read more They have great trails, fishing, picnicking, and even slow spots where you can get in the water. Shevlin park has a teepee that you can check out and go inside of, they have more than one trail, good for bike riding, dog walking, fishing. I remember having picnics here as a kid and I still come back as an adult when in the area. They trails are low impact and fairly flat.

We absolutely love nature, and knew we had to try it. At first upon arriving, I feared there would be no parking at 11:00 a.m. However, the lot was only halfway full which was nice. The trails were laid out on the trail map a little ways past the shelter on the left, but there was a discrepancy between what the trail map said and the websites listed in terms of trail names and trail lengths. So, we decided to forge our own path. We took the main loop around. The conifer trees and contrast with the desert landscape were beautiful, and the creek shots were stunning.
