Nice dog park with great accessibility, lots of parking and it's a big park, plenty of room for lots and lots of dogs. There is the main fenced in area that is comprised of two areas within - one for large dogs, one for small dogs. For the most part everyone just uses the large dog area. It's covered with bark which is fine. There are garbage cans and trash bags as well and for the most part people pick up after their dogs (heavy sigh). It's a big space, so for those that like to play fetch there is more than ample room. People are good with their dogs and any sort of tension (that I've seen) has been quickly addressed. There is a working water fountain for the dogs, plus someone has brought in a plastic tub that gets filled with water for those dogs that aren't good with drinking from the fountain. The best part of the park is across the path, a much smaller fenced in area along the river. My dog loves this side, loves to wade and run along the rocks with the other dogs. Ultimately she's not going to swim, but she's going pretend she's one of the gang. Silly, but fine by me. I agree with Tom K., dog loves it, I'm not sold on the dust.

Loved the view of the river, beautiful homes and of course, dog access to the water. It's a bit rocky to the river, but EASY!

BPRD is a tax district created in the mid-70's to manage the city of Bend parks and various facilities, which include the Juniper Swim & Fitness Center, The Pavilion (an ice rink) and the Bend Senior Center. Major parks include Shevlin, Drake, Pine Nursery and several on the river. The District has taxation authority - the citizens of Bend vote on and pay into bonds to fund the operation. It's the tax part I'm not sure I like. By creating a separate tax district, management and funding was taken away from the city of Bend and the Bend City Council. The result is that parks and recreation have a guaranteed source of revenue (if approved by voters) that the city can't divert to other uses. The flip side is that to work well, BPRD and the city council must work together to ensure Bendites have a thriving, livable city. Conflicts in vision can arise. As for the parks themselves, BPRD seems to be doing a good job. Bend has great parks. Moreover, BPRD has its priorities for future projects right, in my opinion. These include ensuring (or working towards) equal access to parks for all neighborhoods, and equal thought to preservation of the environment, particularly the Deschutes River (which, as a river, falls under the purview of other agencies as well). The BPRD board of directors (comprising five elected members) seems to conduct it's business openly from what I can see attending meetings, and they seem to have a good working relationship with the professional staff. So, nothing much to complain about. I'm just not sure if the whole thing might be better off being overseen by the city council.

Bend RV Resort is absolutely top-notch! This new luxury RV resort has truly knocked it out of the…read morepark. The property is beautifully manicured and maintained, and every detail has been thought through to make your stay comfortable and fun. The amenities are outstanding: a heated pool, large hot tub, dog park, pool table, library, business center, store, and even a large communal kitchen and living room area with a TV and fireplace. The private bathrooms with showers are spotless and spacious, and the convenience of trash pick up in cans close to each site is a nice touch. I love the unique site options. Ours included a private "paw patio" for our pups to play and potty safely, and there are also buddy sites where two RVs can face each other, perfect for camping with friends. Many sites have gorgeous gas powered glass fire pits, and they even host fun community events like the s'mores get together this Friday at the communal fire pits. The location near downtown Bend is perfect, and the staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. Between the amenities, atmosphere, and thoughtful touches, this is by far one of the best RV resorts I have stayed at. Highly recommend!
