Only one star because we could not select negative zero. The business staff demonstrated their incompetence and neglect of animal care by killing our 6 month old healthy puppy. One week after getting a clean bill of health from the veterinarian, we boarded our 6 month old puppy for 10 days. The Dog Zone manager Jen called us for the first time on day number 9 of our vacation, to tell us that our puppy had not been eating for several days and was vomiting. Still confused on why no phone call was made to us on day one of our puppy not eating or on day one of vomiting! Jen was more concerned about someone coming to pick up our sick puppy to get her out of there, but gave absolutely no concern for our puppy hanging on to her life. I am assuming if she could get the puppy out of the building, then she cannot be held responsible for animal neglect. We were out of the country and insisted that our puppy be taken to a veterinarian immediately, rather than someone picking her up. I will say Jen did finally take our puppy half dead, to a veterinarian, which should have been done the first day of her showing signs of being sick. The veterinarian stated she was barley responsive ,had pale gums, low white blood cell count and low body temperature when she arrived. She was put on oxygen immediately, due to her inability to breathe on her own!! The Dog Zone Manager Jen only told us our puppy was not eating and had vomited. Jen said she did not even think that our puppy would need any overnight care at the veterinarian. We had our puppy transferred to an emergency veterinarian and we authorized aggressive treatment to save her life. She was diagnosed with pneumonia, from likely aspirating her own vomit. The veterinarian believed the pneumonia happened over sometime and not the same day the manager notified us. Even after aggressive treatment our puppy could not be saved and we could not even say goodbye to her because we were in another country. If we had been notified the first day our puppy was not eating we would have insisted she be taken to a veterinarian immediately. But, Jen is not the only individual at the business that was aware of my puppy barely hanging on to her life because my puppy had been in this severe medical condition for days!!!!! Where is the humanity and compassion for our furry family members OR are all of the employees at this company just wanting to get the "problem pet" out of the building, so they don't have to be held responsible for their pure malice. This boarding/ daycare may seem trustworthy but do not make the mistake we did by trusting them with your furry loved ones. Now our puppy will never see her first Christmas! read more

The staff here are wonderful and great my dog by name. They take great care of him and provide wonderful service. The doggy day care is a life saver for me. They also offer grooming and boarding services. My dog was initially reactive to other dogs because he was afraid. They worked with him, so that now he gets to play all day and make friends. read more

We love the Dog Zone! When we moved here I was nervous to find a place as low maintenance as what I had at my former location but with a quick phone call Doug was happy to take our dog for the upcoming weekend. He makes you feel immediately at ease leaving your loved pet there while still being very professional. Our dog is always excited on the drive to daycare. All of the staff knew her name very quickly and run up to get her when she's dropped off for daycare or when we're there to pick her up. Perfect! This is a wonderful place. They have training classes and plenty of supplies, great groomers and - my fave - self-grooming stations! Nail clips are $10 and professionally done. Horrible place. Dropped my dogs off for a full bathe, groom, and clip. I came to pick them up and they told me they couldnt get it all done...that the dogs were horrible and had a bad experience. Noone called me to come get them earlier. And they said they forced getting as much done as they could bc its what i wanted even though they didnt have my dogs best interest in mind. My dogs get groomed once a month and have been great for previous groomers. This place could t get it all done but sure charged me full price to abuse my pups. read more

We needed a place for our dog to stay for the day while we we explored the Mt. St. Helens Volcanic Monument (no dogs allowed there!). The staff was professional and very knowledgeable about canine behavior. They knew just what to do for our shy girl! These guys are AWESOME! I started coming here because of my favorite groomer, Lyndsay. I take my dog in every couple months and Lyndsay always does a great job. Kozmo was very shy when we first adopted him, and afraid to be left at the groomer. It was important to me to find a groomer that would understand his issues and be patient with him. He clearly likes Lyndsay and is not afraid to go in when we get to the Dog Zone. If you explain your pet's individual quirks, these folks will do their darndest to give your pet precisely the support it needs. read more

Had a great experience at the Dog Zone today. Staff was friendly and helpful. Facility was clean. Dogs in the play area looked happy. We used the self dog wash and it was well equipped and easy to use to wash our large dog. Overall a good experience and we'll be coming here again in the future. read more

I have been taking my 4 year old lab to the dog daycare at Dog Zone since he was 16 weeks old and my pit bull mix since we rescued him a year ago. They are amazing. They allow dogs to play as dogs and are knowledgeable about normal dog behavior; and they treat your dogs with lots of love. My dogs absolutely love it there, I highly recommend them! read more

No stars. We have used The Dog Zone for about three years for occasional day care, grooming and a few boarding days. My dog is a mild mannered rescue. She seemed to like it at first, but I noticed she her behavior changed in the last few months. She literally had to be pulled in to stay. Whenever I came to pick her up I would look out the large window into the play yard. Not once did I see an attendant out there. Doug, the owner says there is someone always out there. Not true! I do however like the staff, but Doug has proven himself to be without much integrity The last time my dog was left for a groom, she caught the dog flu. I know some things can't not be prevented. But this last Monday, we left my dog for a play day while we went to Vancouver. When we arrived to pick her up, the owner, Doug told us he had taken in a new rescue for the first time. The Dog had been to the vet, but he did not wait for all the tests to come back before taking the dog in that day. It turned out that the dog was sick...the vet had called the owner of the dog and said the dog tested positive for Gairdia...a highly contagious parasite, which puts all the dogs at risk and can also be spread to cats and people. I took my dog to her get as soon as I picked her up. The vet said the new dog should never have been allowed in until all tests came back and showed a clean bill of health Doug really played it down and challenged everything my vet told me. My vet said there is a 10 to 15 day window where they could develops it, but don't show symptoms. So we are watching her carefully. Doug refused to put this incident out publicly, which I felt he should have so people can decide if they want to change being around the exposed dogs or wait out the 15 day window. I have asked around town with other boarders, daycares and groomers. They all said the public should have been informed. I also heard some unsavory things that go on there. I can't say They are true, because I wasnt there. But if you post an unfavorable review on The Dog Zone page, it will be deleted. Mine was twice. His page shows a 5 star rating because he only leaves the positive reviews up. My dog is part of my family, I will not be taking her there again and pray she does not get sick. When a business owner puts his money making business before the health and safety of our animals, it is time to get out. Makes me wonder what else he is hiding. read more

I will never go back! My husband and I adopted a dog from the humane society and we got a free self wash for our dog. so after a hard Day's play at the dog park we took him over to The Dog Zone. I was excited to go because we only have a stand up shower and it is not conducive for a large dog. Upon first entering it seemed nice but once we were walked to the self wash area near the boarding portion of the place the smell was almost unbearable. Once getting upstairs to the tubs the 1st thing I noticed was only 2 tubs and the pink slim mold everywhere around the tubs. The mats to lay inside tub to help prevent slipping where covered in mold. The blow dryer only had a high setting and freaked out our dog and he nearly strangled himself trying to get away from it. We should have just left right away but our dog was a dirty boy from playing so hard, and it was free thank goodness cuz we would have been very upset having even paid a cent. This place is not very clean at all and please do not bring your pets here. I felt I had to shower when I got home because the environment there was that gross. We used to go to a place down in vancouver that had several wash stations and smelled and looked very clean. Wish they where up here because we will not be going back to the Dog Zone unless they clean up, A LOT! We couldn't even say anything to the person that asked how it went because we were so grossed out we just wanted to wash and get out of there as fast as we could.... GROSS! read more

They almost killed my dog! The Dog Zone does not require vaccinations in the grooming area and have a history of Kennel Cough that they try to hide. Kennel cough is easy to contract but when 2 grooming salons in town are known for it, that is pretty bad. My dog was just at the vet and got a clean bill of health the day before and then went to be groomed the next day, at The Dog Zone. He came home and 4 days later was hacking and so was all my other 5 dogs. My dogs are never allowed to touch the ground anywhere but at home because of this. Then these hacks let the dogs go mingle in the play yard and spread disease and possible get in a fight. I did not know they did this until the last time he was there. So I wake up on Memorial weekend to an almost dead dog. I had to take him an hour away at 100 mph. They put him in critical care emergency care for 3 days with kennel cough and pneumonia. When I went to try and come up with some solutions for the dogs safety. Instead The owner told me my 13 year old dog was too old, I didn't know what I was talking about and shoved me out of the store without even asking how my dog was. I am disgusted and want to warn all to steer clear of this disease waiting to happen. read more
