My boyfriend & I were planning a staycation at Ilani & were looking into several different places to board our puppy. I looked into many different places & read a lot of reviews. We weren't too impressed by the place we checked out right before this one, so I did more research & found this one that was similar. I liked that this place had trails, the dogs slept in cabins, & that she'd be able to run around all day & socialize with other dogs.. On the website i mentions that if their pickup/drop off times didn't work for you, that you can always ask. We wanted to time it so that we could drop her right before check in time at the hotel, which was passed the ranch drop off time. Brian was very accommodating in letting us do that. When first dropping her off, our puppy looked scared, but by the time we were driving away we saw her tail wagging so it made us feel better. Pick up day came & she was happy to see us. She came back smelling like a dog, so I'll take that as she had a good time On her collar there was also a cute keychain that said "I ran with the pack". Overall a good experience for us. read more

My dog absolutely LOVES this place. Somehow she knows that Monday's are her camp day and she sits at the window until that bus pulls in the driveway! I love absolutely everything about Paradise Dog Ranch and its owner, Brian. My dog is a high energy mutt, and confined spaces/kennels do not work for him. I have only taken him to PDR for overnight boarding, and we have left him for up to three days. On the drive in, my dog gets extremely excited because he can tell EXACTLY what's in store for him, and on the way home he almost immediately passes out in the back of the car. What more could a friendly dog dream of than an all day dog park experience, with a pack of their own to run around with? Brian has always been able to accommodate short-notice reservations for my dog, and takes any concerns I have seriously. Plus, it's one of the best deals I've found! I definitely think that if your dog is friendly and loves to play and/or explore, this is the place to take them! It's an hour and a half round trip for me to either pick him up or drop him off, but I can't imagine taking my dog anywhere else at this point. read more

Our German has been going to play at Brian's since she was a puppy and she loves her time there. She's always so timid when we first get there (thanks to the PTSD brought on from our neighbor's aggressive dog attacking her twice) Brian gets her warmed up to the group and she gains trust again in other dogs. This place is a great place to bring your pet if you are on your way to Portland from Seattle or vice versa. It's about 15 minutes off of I-5 and well worth the drive. The owner is super laid back and the dogs get plenty of exercise. When we came to pick our dog up, he was like a kid who didn't want to leave the playground to go home with his boring old parents. He then proceeded to sleep like a log for about two days straight! Do your pooch a favor and let him have an enjoyable vacation and take 'em to Paradise Dog Ranch. You'll be glad you did. read more

Paradise Dog Ranch is a fantastic place! I started sending my dog for Wednesday "Running with the Pack" sessions as he's an only dog and I wanted to socialize him to other dogs. Now that he's almost 3, I keep sending him because he loves it so much! They pick the dogs up and drop them off so I don't have to and my dog knows when it's his day. He starts bugging me 2 hours before they arrive and when the bus pulls up he runs to the bus door to be let in. He comes home tired and happy every time! I've also boarded Jax with them and they do a great job! Keep in mind that this is a "free range" environment, your dog is not penned up in a kennel with only short walks, they run and play with other dogs all day. It's perfect for us, I highly recommend Paradise Dog Ranch! read more

After having left our dog with an in home dog sitter (that I'm pretty sure didn't stay here and left our pup kenneled most of the time) we saw a sign for Paradise at the dog park. We are so grateful for Brian and this ranch! We have been boarding our dog here whenever we travel for the last few years. She has spent anywhere from 3-14 days here and it's always been amazing! Brian is always able to accommodate our pretty last minute reservations, and he's very flexible with pick ups and drop offs. I would NEVER bring a dog back to this place! My 6 mos. old Lab had a real nice tear in her ear. The idea here is to put your dog out with all of the other dogs, no matter the size or temperament - i.e. pitbulls, mastiffs, german shepherds, a lot of really large agressive dogs, then forget about her. They sleep in a community area in his basement and it is first come, first served on the beds. I'm pretty sure that is where she got hurt. There is no one to keep an eye on them during the night, and they run the woods during the day. Her ear was torn and she had a big scar on her snout. They never went away. You would be better off just letting your dog run loose while you are away than putting them in this place. At least they'd have a better shot at getting away!! Stay away at all costs!! spend a little extra money and put your dog some place where they can have their own space and be watched anc cared for. We did and it made all the difference. Unfortunately, it was a little too late - she was already scarred for life. read more

This place is awesome!! Brian picks my dog up every Tuesday and Thursday. She comes home so tired and happy. The best part is that I go on facebook and see pictures of my dog having fun all day. I was taking my dog to Tails are Wagging but I noticed that she didn't come home very tired. I don't think they get to run that much there. Also it was getting too expensive over there. It's been a couple of years since I last reviewed Paradise Dog Ranch, so I wanted to leave an update. We are still sending our dogs, Hank and Sadie, up there once a week for doggy daycare as well as for boarding when we go out of town. Still could not be happier with the ranch and with Brian, the owner. I don't know how, but both of my dogs seem to know when it's Thursday, their daycare day, because every Thursday morning they sit waiting by the front door and looking out the front window for Brian to show up with all their friends in the doggy bus. In fact, they'll be staying with Brian for the next week while we're on vacation, and I have not a worry in the world that they will be happy and well taken care of! Plus I know I'll get to see just how they're doing as Brian posts pics of playtime on Facebook almost daily. Big thanks to Brian for taking such excellent care of our 4 legged kiddos! read more

Best place to take your dog!! I have been using Paradise for 5 years now for both daycare and overnights . Brian is always accommodating, even last minute. My dog knows when Paradise Bus pulls up for dog car and can't get out the door fast enough. If I drop him off for a few days, he runs to the gate and doesn't look back. My dog Shiloh has been coming here for over 6 years, she loves it! She can be sound asleep, hear's the doggie bus and is right at the door waiting to go! Our other dog loved going as well until she got to old and her body couldn't do it. Shiloh goes twice a week and loves every minute! Our boxers LOVE Paradise Dog Ranch!!! They get picked up in a bus and take a ride out for the day to the ranch. They always come back happy and tired from so much play. The ranch is located on a hillside and the dogs have ample room to run and get a ton of exercise. Every time that Brian comes to pick them up they meet him with such excitement and joy. They adore him. Overnight stays are accommodated with doggie "hotels" and each dog has it's own bed and are in well insulated massive dog cabins. She is so worn out from playing all day as soon as she gets home she sleeps. I really appreciate that she is picked up and dropped off. It couldn't be easier! We will not be bringing our 9 year old shepherd back here. My husband went into great detail with Brian about how our dog doesn't realize she is an old girl now and doesn't know her limitations. He acted as if it was no problem--that he would regulate her activity and that he deals with this with older big dogs all the time. When my husband picked her up three days later she could barely walk!!!! My husband asked Brian what the hell happened he claimed "nothing" that she was just a little sore. She couldn't even get up into our subaru, my husband had to pick her up! My husband questioned why he did not regulate her activity like he asked and Brian's response was, "I thought she did a good job regulating herself". Um, no thanks, makes me wonder if she even got petted or fed. If you have an old dog or post surgery animal I would choose someone more caring who actually pays attention to your dog. read more
