***update: The owners did call me and addressed my concerns and said they would implement a system to which pets are looked at a bit more closely in the future to prevent something like this from occurring in the future. I believe if this is change is made that this location would be a good place to go. Also leaving the original post so this update actually makes sense*** I took my dog to this place over christmas this year and when I picked her up she was covered head to tail in a very serious staff infection. I am not sure where she picked her up and there was no way to be certain, but what I can say is that there is no way that they could have over looked this. If they had contacted me we might have been able to start meds sooner. When I took her to the vet I was getting asked questions to help streamline her treatment, but when I called they would only keep telling me that the manager was in a meeting and would call me as soon as possible. This is the excuse I got the next day too. So far the manager hasn't called me. Edit: To be clear (in response to Brian) I don't think it was caused by the stay there, but it did get significantly worse to the point that it would be impossible to not notice it. The only way it could happen is if nobody spent a lot of time with her, which was a service that I did pay for. read more

I have to say, after using this doggie day camp for the first time, the experience really exceeded my expectations. We have tried other doggie day care services and this was a great experience. The team was so encouraging and kept me updated with how "Eli" was doing. At pickup they were so affirming as to exactly how Eli spent his day and with whom! It was totally consistant with his personality too adding to the credibility. Absolutely would recommend to all Rockwallians with puppy/dog care needs. I know there are other choices in Rowlett, Allen, and points beyond. But for a great option right here I choose The Dog House!! read more

I left my two dogs Kota and Shiner at the dog house for 3 nights. I was upset because I did not research this place more thoroughly. I feel as though their needs were met but that is it. I was told pics are available but when I called to ask why they were not in any pics on Facebook and a staff member told me you have to pay for it . I was like ok? And then she said any play time was extra. So if you want your dog loved on or even paid attention to you need to pay extra. I picked them up at 4pm on Sunday and was told nothing about their stay. It was like they were in a pen and fed 2x a day and had their potty breaks. The girl who went to get them acted like she did not know who they were. I will be looking at other options next time. It's called The Dog House...where you take DOGS to be serviced. I'm no longer allowed to walk my dog into the "reception area" because of an office cat. If my dog is on a leash, the cat being in the office is irrelevant. I have to shuffle our dog into a "welcome kennel" so the employee can then shuffle my dog through a door that leads to the same reception area. What's the difference if I handle my dog versus a stranger? I have the retractable leash. Is the cat going to attack my dog? Most likely not, and my dog isn't worried about some "office cat" at a DOG GROOMING business, she's stressed enough. Taylor doesn't work there anymore and she was the only reason I've been coming here the last 2 years. I won't be back. read more

Really awesome boarding facility! Everything was so easy and painless. My dogs thoroughly enjoyed their time there while I was traveling and I had no anxiety worrying about them while I was away. The location is easy to find (close to downtown rockwall) and makes drop off and pickup easy. Taylor (GM) is always really sweet and makes sure everyone is taken care of. Pricing is relatively good compared to a lot of the other boarding facilities. I really like how you can schedule services right on the website through the client portal. They also respond very quickly to texting which works well for me. I highly recommend boarding here and I definitely will again soon! read more

I am so happy I found The Dog House! This was the first time I had to board my dog since she became blind. She now requires special care and medication which they were able to administer. I was hesitant to leave her there, but after meeting the staff, I realized these were highly qualified and caring people. When she came home she was happy and even more energetic than before! She's acting like a puppy again! After she went blind, she was unsure and wouldn't even jump on us anymore. I don't know what The Dog House did to give her confidence because now, she not only jumps on us to play, I've found her on top of the couch and even my bed! I've seen this beautiful place driving by it and had the occasion to get my dog groomed there. They were kind, flexible with my time and did an amazing job on her nails without hurting her. No one trims them short enough and this place did! I don't live here but I visit often and this will definitely be the resident place for all my girl's needs. Thank you and we'll definitely be back. This is THE greatest kennel I have found in Rockwall County! The staff is very professional but more than that, they know your pets names when you walk in the door. My dogs love this place! The Dog House always seems to make room for those spontaneous trips when you need to board or last minute baths that your pet may need when you are pressed for time. We took our labradoodle to Dog House when my daughter was having her baby. He stayed for five days. We were beyond happy with the personal touch Dog House offers. The groomer (we had him groomed during his stay) texted us to make sure she knew what we wanted. Gus seemed happy and healthy (and super clean and groomed) when we picked him up. He still smells great a week and a half later! The price is competitive and fair. We were very pleased, especially since we had never boarded our dog before. This is a great place to take your pet. The building is VERY clean, they take very good care of the animals, great staff, reasonable prices and flexibility. We have been taking our dog here for about 3 months to get out her "puppy" energy out. Basically, DAYCARE! They are located on 205 in Rockwall, which is convenient location for us. The owner lives onsite which is great! Our dog goes there 3 days a week and sometimes boards there for a week. Definitely worth a try. Tip: sometimes they don't answer the phone and you'll get the answering machine. Don't fret, they will call you back. Also, email gets a fast reply (1 hour or so). read more

We boarded our three dogs and our daughters for one night. I looked at their rate online and spoke to them and was told it was $20 per dog. What I found out is there is no nightly rate just a daily rate. So one for a nights stay I paid for two days for each dog. I have never encountered a kennel, hotel, etc...where you pay by the day. It makes them much more expensive. I asked to have the owner call me to discuss and haven't heard anything in two days. I gave them 2 stars because my dogs came home no worse for wear but I will NEVER use the Dog House again. read more

I had to go to town for a week and typically try to find friends for my dogs to stay with but was unable to. I sent my three obnoxious corgis to the dog house and they came back safe and sound. I'm just as happy as ever. It's a country environment that the dogs are going to really enjoy not just a concrete indoor building. So if you're going to board for more than 2 or 3 days I would recommend this place so your dogs can get out and venture like their Natural Instincts require. I had a bad experience here and am mostly to blame because I did not come and check the place out before boarding my dog here. Had I done that, well I wouldn't be writing this review because my dog wouldn't have stayed here. That being said, when I dropped my dog off everything was fine. The 2 ladies in the front were very nice and friendly and I felt good about leaving my pup here for 2 nights. When I came to get him, there was no one in the front office. There was a sign saying if no one is there to go back and find someone. Ok, no problem. I walk back about 3x. Can't find anyone for about 5 minutes but I saw the kennels where all the dogs were being held. I saw my dog in one of the cages. I left his favorite toy with him... Which was no where to be found. Just another dogs pink blanket on the other side of his cage... I grabbed my dog (since no one was around) put him on a leash and walked around back into the front office. There were 2 young girls inside who helped me pay. I asked where his toy was and one went to go look for it, she came back and said she couldn't find it and would call me when she found it. So I literally left teary eyed feeling SO BAD for leaving my dog there. As soon as we got out he went potty and was acting so nostalgic. Normally when I board him he is super excited followed by an energy crash from being worn out. He clutched me the entire ride home. I don't think he slept at all. Then I get a voicemail from the girl at the kennel... "We found your dogs toy.. It was shredded all that was left was the squeaker.. We think the dog next to him got aggressive and tore it up" Thank god that dog didn't get ahold of my dog. Never coming back. UPDATE- my dog has now begun showing signs of kennel cough. Bringing him to the vet tomorrow. This place is absolutely awful. read more

Just picked up our sweet, precious, weimaraner, Molly... I just want to cry! NEVER AGAIN!! We want to warn others to seriously question this place. We boarded here a couple of times before, but each time has progressively worsened. First time we thought was good. Second time we thought it was just our dog missing us... THIRD TIME WAS H O R R I F I C. We left for a week vacation and came back to skinned and scabbed backs of her front legs. This is a sign of a dog crying for help. She was profusely shedding hair when we touched her, and she has significant weight loss. A blanket we left for her had to be searched for at pick up. They said she was out of food. HURTFUL TRUTH = dogs are on concrete floors in cages for majority of time. No temperature control seen, just outdoor air? They advertise it's controlled and we trusted. Even though the place looks country and fun, don't think your dog gets attention. We got a sense of different people working here recently, but still no excuse for such treatment of a kind, gentle dog at their mercy. read more
