Incredible place. Matthew Chen is the executive chef who presents incredibly creative curated items for appetizers as well as sandwiches, salads and local favorites. The bar items are likewise inspired. Their Key Lime Cartel was an awesome combination of Coconut Rum, Key Lime Liqueur, and other ingredients rimmed with Toasted Coconut. I tried several of their crustacean dishes and they were superb. I'm not much for the piscines as I am for the crustaceans; but they have several items from both types! The desserts are exceptional, especially the Sweet Corn Cake with Blueberry Compote and the Strawberry, Chocolate,Coconut Bread Pudding; both served with Vanilla Ice Cream. The food is ok, but the waitress ruined it. Let me tell my story. We have 8 people, including 2 kids. The waitress is Ana Maria. She starts off impatient and very rude to us. I think we did nothing wrong. We are professionals, polite, we are 4 professors working for the university in different field, well, one in food safety. We are with kids and the kids behave extremely well, making no noise. But one thing is, yes, we are Asian. Ana Maria rolls her eyes so many times. I feel extremely bad to be treated the most racist way in my life. The kids get water without a cap. We never get refills for water for the entire dinner. She refuses to separate the bills for us at the end, or is it a restaurant wide policy? Yes, we spend ~500 dollars on the food. And it is mandatory to pay close to 100 dollars for a tip, and I understand it because we are party of 8. And We are excited to try everything. We understand it might be a busy day for restaurant, even though we did not get food for a long time but we did not complain at all. But by the end of the day, she says we need space and a table for the others, so they kick us out right after paying the bill. We move out, but no one is using our table. We feel being treated very rudely, so we report to the manager. She is very nice and apologizes to us and waives some fees equal to the tips. But the waitress never shows up or apologizes. I understand she might have a tough day, but this is very unprofessional to do this or highly suspicious to be racist. I want to say, we are professionals, and this won't be the end of the story. We will do everything to make sure the restaurant pays the price, and we have the ability to do it. Update: I reduced one more star for the manager's reply. The service was clearly rude. The manager said they support their team and offered an excuse. This was clearly not an apology. If the waitress was just rushed or needed the work done earlier, we would understand, but the way they treated people was beyond rude. We could see how differently she treated us compared to others. Let's add more details: we were a party of 8. They put us in the middle of the hallway. She kept complaining that we were in her way (it was not our fault!!!!!) She explained the oysters were 12 for a dozen (reminder, she did not mean the price; it was 48 dollars), but she made it confusing or assumed we did not understand what a dozen means. Btw, the CDC is warning about the oyster salmonella outbreak in 22 states, including FL. Unfortunately, I have been having diarrhea for the past two days. As a party of 5, we tried much of the seafood on their curated (medium-size) menu. Overall it was fine -- like the rest of the recommended food places we tried in Key West. My favorites were the raw bar (oysters and ceviche) and the scampi, which had great flavor, although it also had a pretty small portion (exactly 1 scallop, not a ton of pasta) and we were all fighting over it. The rest of the seafood dishes we tried relied heavily on cream for flavor and texture. If I lived in Key West, I'd be happy to go back here. But it's the kind of place that you can find a dime a dozen in Miami, and if I were in a more food-oriented tourist town of the same size like Bar Harbor, I'd be a bit disappointed. read more

We read the reviews which were decent for the most part so we thought we would give it a try. What a mistake. First, it's in a weird location and you drive through a very sad, run-down little trailer park area. We thought we must be in the wrong spot. Our waiter was not attentive and I had to get up a couple of times to ask for something. The food was a huge disappointment. The scallop ceviche was sweet and not traditional. Very disappointing. The salads are massive and were okay. The seafood scampi was flavorless. There was a decent amount of fish and seafood. With one glass of wine the bill for 3 with tip was $249.00. This is one of those places where I'm apprehensive about reviewing because it's still not difficult to get a table but once it becomes popular it will be next to impossible. It's a small place sandwiched between a fish market and a marina. It's not a "white tablecloth" restaurant but the food and its presentation sure is. This place came highly recommended from a guy at the scooter rental place. He said when his parents come to visit, the first thing they do is give him a hug, the second thing is asking when they're going to The Docks. He recommended it highly, so we took our rented scooter and made our way over there for lunch. We got there at the perfect time between the lunch and dinner crowds, and had no wait. I had the seafood chowder, which was good, though a rather small portion. I also had some peel and eat red Key West shrimp, chilled. That was absolutely delicious! A half pound of large, plump, perfectly steamed shrimp with an aïoli sauce. It hit the spot for a nice light lunch. A cool unexpected bonus was checking out the fish in the marina right off the dock. Some kids just finished feeding some of the skin and other parts from fish that had just been freshly filleted in the adjoining fish market, throwing it into the water. We saw sharks and other huge fish! We had taken a glass bottom boat tour to a reef the day before, where we saw very few fish. I think they were all hanging out at The Docks! No need to spend money on the boat tour, just head to The Docks. We saw way more fish than we did on the boat tour! read more

We walked in for dinner and sat outside. The only negative thing I will say is that we got eaten alive by mosquitos during sunset. That being said, the staff was super friendly in letting us move tables and offered mosquito repellent. My mom and I ordered the Drunken Scallop Ceviche. The Serrano peppers that came with it were very spicy and it had great flavor. We also had the Keys Fresh Seafood Chowder and 1 lb of the Royal Red Shrimp. Good view - check. Great food - check. Excellent service - check, check! I came to the docks for a friend's birthday dinner, and we had a large group. Despite the size, the restaurant easily accommodated us. Typically, when you have a group of 10+ people, you can expect slower service, but Maria completely disproved that. She was incredibly friendly, offered great recommendations, and was on top of everything without missing a beat! I started with a dirty martini, and it was spot on--surprisingly, not many places get it just right. As for the food, there were so many tempting options, so we decided to order a variety and share. Definitely my favorite way to dine. We went with shrimp scampi pasta, skirt steak, the lobster special, seafood tower, oysters, stone crab claws, lobster Rangoon, and ceviche. Yes, it was a lot of food, but we were sharing it among eight of us, so no worries! The stone crab claws were fantastic--good size and reasonably priced. They come with a mustard butter, which wasn't my favorite. I'd have preferred something like spicy mustard or cocktail sauce, but honestly, the crab was so fresh and succulent, it didn't need any sauce at all. The ceviche was incredibly flavorful, and the oysters were solid as well. The lobster special, though, was a letdown. It arrived cold, and the combination of potatoes, broccolini, curry sauce, and pineapple just didn't work for me. This isn't a regular menu item, and I'd say it should probably stay off the menu. But moving on--the shrimp scampi pasta was delectable! The skirt steak was also good. The seafood chowder was an unexpected star of the meal. It was one of the best I've had, chunks of mahi with flavors dancing in perfect harmony. The breadcrumb topping was the perfect finishing touch, adding a bit of texture and richness. Honestly, as I write this, I'm craving another bowl! All in all, despite the one hiccup, the meal was great, and I'm definitely coming back next time I'm in Key West. This place was amazing. It was recommended by faculty at the College of the Keys and it did not disappoint. The Caesar Salad was a homemade dressing and fabulous. The NY Style Pastrami Swordfish sandwich was personally my favorite. And the Fish of the Day sandwich (today was Grouper) was amazing as well. We are huge fans of the ecologically friendly agave straws (instead of disgusting paper straws). Our waiter (Chris) was wonderful and friendly. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and sat at the bar. We had great service and ordered a couple of things to share. I can't recall the name of my drink but it was the one with lychee. Loved it! As an avid lychee martini drinker -- this drink hit the spot. On the menu it said it was made with tequila but when requesting if the bartender could make it with vodka instead he said sure, and that's how it was originally when they first came up with the drink! It was so refreshing and delicious, I would highly recommend this one. To eat we ordered the tuna carpaccio pizza, the artichoke heart salad, oysters and I think it was like a pickled veggie ceviche. Everything was so good and fresh. I think my favorite was the pickled veggie ceviche. Also, everything came out so quickly!! The kitchen is on it! Just average. You have to go way out of your way to stumble upon this place, on a back street dedicated mostly to boatyards, storage yards, and construction industry. I found it earlier exploring Stock Island by bike. It looked good and seemed more authentic than the Hogfish Bar and grill where most tourists stop before finding this. It was nearly empty when I arrived early evening on a Thursday. I had a virgin mojito, arancino appetizer, and a surprisingly expensive grouper special. Mojito: served in a glass resembling a pineapple. Fruity and limey with just the right balance of sweet to tangy. Not heavy on the mint but it was discernible. Pretty good. Obviously rum would be a welcome addition but I was taking a break. Arancinos: three golf-ball-sized on a rectangular platter. They had a decent crunch on the outside but they fell apart too easily. Served on top of a pool of melted cheese and bland tomato sauce. The rice filling was mushy and not really resembling rice and bizarrely there were a few green peas inside. Could have used salt but there wasn't any on the table. Disappointing overall. Grouper: Points for trying to be innovative but the concept didn't really work. The two large pieces were perfectly fresh and grilled to just the right doneness. There was some kind of corn and red pepper salsa on top but it didn't really have much flavor. The strangest thing was the cubed beets underneath. Just plain boiled beets. It made no sense. Served with steak fries which were house-made and good. Ambience: the outside seating area was on the dock with my table 6 feet from the water. Big motoryachts behind the security gate with multimillionaires chilling on them. Twinkling lights from nearby Key West. Sounds of seagulls mixed with frequent loud jet takeoffs from the nearby Naval Air Station. I guess the locals get used to it. The real oil candle on the table was a nice touch. Some of the desserts sounded interesting but I passed. I remember something about a chocolate creme brûleé and a beignet with sauce and ice cream. My waitress and the service was ok. She was mostly available when needed and checked on me twice, but was hard to find when it was time to pay the bill. When she did arrive I discovered that I was charged the same price for the virgin drink as a regular. That seemed wrong so I questioned it. She said it was correct. I said ok but it just doesn't seem appropriate. She agreed. While I was waiting for the credit card to be processed I did a little Googling and found mixed results. Many times but by no means always it is that way. But some good news: without any prodding by me she checked with the manager and said I was overcharged. The receipt now listed "Virgin Cocktail" and about 1/3 was deducted from the price. So that was nice. But I remember a virgin mojito I had at another place cost the same as a soft drink! read more

Please search by lowest review before coming here. Same thing that happened to us happened to others. Appetizers of lobster Rangoon, arancini and the figs in a blanket were all delicious. Caesar salad lacked flavor, fish and chips were soggy. Burger and skirt steak were very good. The service is horrible and Maria ruined our night. She was very attentive to a table of 6 right next to us, but we rarely saw her. We finally asked the person taking away our plates to have Maria come by as we had empty drinks for over 20 minutes. She immediately went to the table of six asking what they needed. The person taking away our plates told her to come to our table. Finally she came by and I ordered a different cocktail and my husband ordered the same margarita he had. We were trying to order my son a drink and she walked off in the middle of us talking, so my husband called her name and she turned around and angrily yelled that "she knows, we want another round"...which was not what we were ordering. I have never been yelled at by a server ever. She was the most unprofessional person I have met. She ruined our evening. She brought me the exact first drink which I had ordered something different. In a nutshell: Great setting, casual, fun waiter, and fantastic food. A seafood restaurant in a rustic setting where the fishing boats are docked. A place where the local fishermen eat and drink. Docks was introduced to us by a friend who is a local, guaranteeing the freshest seafood around and it didn't disappoint. I had the seafood over fresh pasta our friends ate the fresh grouper special. The meal was prepared and presented very well. My pasta had a smooth lightly salted clear gravy/sauce that didn't smother and let the flavors of the fish and shrimp savor through. The asparagus that accompanied the grouper was thick and looked like a meal in itself. I was told it was delicious as I did not taste it. Came for lunch shucks heading back home from Key West. We sat outside to enjoy the beautiful view of the water. The waiters were all great and very helpful with recommendations. I could see they were busy, however, when our server finally came by with waters, she took our appetizer order, then ignored us for about 35 minutes. We saw her racing around, but she avoided eye contact every time. We were finally able to get another server to take our order. At the end of the meal, the server who took our order, asked about our experience. When I told him, he asked if I would speak to the manager and brought me over to Jen. When I shared our experience, she acted like she could care less and said an obligatory, "I'm sorry to hear that, but I hope you come back and give us another try". So there you go...
