The Dish Room is a hidden gem! We stopped in for lunch on a road trip to Denver. Service was very quick and pleasant, we were seated and received our food right away. The aesthetic is comfortable, but not fancy, with a friendly vibe. We ordered the spider pig sandwich with tater tots and the 1/2 smoked chicken with fries. Both meals were tasty but the spider big was the standout - tender meat and bursting with flavor. The smoked chicken was very tender and served with a tasty BBQ sauce. A shining star in Burlington! Who woulda thought there would be quality dining in eastern Colo? Me and my colleague were prepared for dive-food, and pleasantly surprised when the hotel front desk led us to the "DR". Our server Kate had good energy and was knowledgeable of the menu. We started w the giant poppers. Very good, however I was expecting more of a punch of seasoning. Since we were trying to eat "healthy" we each opted for salads (Caesar for me, and Chicken & Egg for coworker). Obviously we had some finely crafted drinks from the bar. We asked the desk clerk at our motel for a good restaurant. He said there was really only one good restaurant in town. I don't know about the other restaurants, but The Dish Room is excellent. Fast and friendly service. The Shrimp Scampi and Blackened Sea Bass were delicious and perfectly seasoned. Even the side salad was wonderful. The restaurant was a little dark, but very pleasant. We were traveling and wanted to eat, so we look at this place, it took 25 min just to get a table, them once we were inside it took another 10 min to get our drinks orders, them it took about 30 min to get our food, the waiters was pretty nice, but the service was slow, them the the molases rips, it was a very disappointing!! "WOW" what a place. Brussels Hash, you have got to try it. You won't waste any of it. I had the Green Chili burger and fried covered with the green chilies. A must have. My wife had the Black Goat salad. It was amazing as well. All the staff here is spot on. Jack was our waitress, and she was on it. But everyone in the place just seems to love their job. I had The Dish Room bookmarked forever, but driving to/from Denver, we never had the time to stop for a meal here. For our fourth of July journey to Colorado, Eric R. agreed to build in time so we could have lunch here en route. We left our house before 8 AM (Central) and arrived at The Dish Room for lunch before 12 PM (Mountain). The hosts and server were so nice as we were excited to try this farm to table/gourmet spot in small-town Burlington. Eric R. ordered the chicken curry, and I got the grilled octopus appetizer and a side sweet corn tamale (not made with lard, yay)! He loved his curry, and I was pleasantly surprised the octopus was served with romesco and chimichurri (bonus sauce not mentioned on the menu). It was deliciously charred and very tasty. The tamale was fluffy and sweet as described. It was a fun atmosphere and a rather large restaurant, busy at lunch which was a good sign for a week day. The past few months, my husband and I have been taking full advantage of his pilot's license and taking the "foodie tour" of small town Colorado. So we recently decided to head over to Burlington and pop by The Dish Room after a fellow aviator had nothing but a rave review. They serve up a variety of things here, but the sandwiches definitely stole the show for us. After browsing the menu I opted for the spider pig: pulled pork, ham, bacon, cheese, garlic mayo, and chipotle bbq. Yum! The sandwich was super flavorful and not overwhelming like I thought it may be with the garlic mayo and chipotle bbq. However, the fries were missing a little something, maybe some salt, maybe a little overcooked. They weren't awful, but they didn't do much justice to the meal. There are a variety of sides to choose from, so next time I'll play it safe and pick something different. The main drawback was a very disorganized check in process. You could tell the hostess was caught of guard when the lunch rush arrived. She tried to start using a tablet to check people in, and it felt very awkward, like they don't use it very often. We had about a ten-minute wait before we were seated, which was no big deal. Overall, The Dish Room was def a solid quick destination for lunch on our small town Colorado tour. What a gem! This restaurant, basically in the middle of nowhere, was SO GOOD! Best meal I've had in a while. We got wings, brussel sprouts, and a classic burger. Also the bread pudding for dessert. I'd recommend it all. Wish I took some pictures but I ate most of it before thinking of it. Really what else can you say except fresh and delicious tasting. We did take out so I'm not exactly sure what the restaurant was like...my husband picked up the food...but he said it was nice inside. We have been here several times and the food and service have been great previously. We went last week in the middle of the afternoon, there were three of us. It was not crowded at all. Our waitress was slow, forgot things multiple times, and when we reminded her she was snippy. We ordered loaded potatoes with cheese, brisket, and sour cream. It looked like pot roast and had zero flavor. One person had a chicken pesto sandwich. It was fried, which was not what was said on the menu, and it was burned. She ate three bites and that was it. I ordered a Cobb salad and added gorgonzola. It was on iceberg lettuce, half of which was brown and inedible. It only had ham lunch meat, turkey lunch meat, and a spoonful of gorgonzola. No egg, no tomatoes, basic and not pretty. After our food came out we never saw our waitress until we wanted our check. She never asked how our food was. Also, the menu on their website is not accurate. Completely different one in the restaurant. This place used to be excellent, but now we will never go back. read more

We were a bit disappointed with our dinner at The Dish Room, which came as a bit of a surprise considering all the very good reviews. We arrived a bit early for dinner and the restaurant wasn't very busy, but the service was quite slow. We observed our waitress at her other tables leading off with excuses for why there would be a delay, and we heard similar excuses when I ordered another beer and when we asked for the check. I go the Bacon Cheese Burger, which was just OK. The burger patty wasn't very flavorful, it was over-cooked, and the side of Tater Tots was a pretty small portion. My wife's meal was worse. She ordered the Tenderloin Filet, but the beef was a bit tough and over-cooked. The potato was basic but fine, but the side of vegetables was soggy. Maybe we just hit it at a bad time or a bad day of the week or something. But there was nothing really good about our experience here. read more

Such a gem of a restaurant, especially considering its location in a little town in eastern Colorado. I would be here a couple of times a month if I lived close. Their brunch on Sunday is unbelievably good. However, you do need to make a reservation which is, something that I had failed to appreciate. They were able to seat us at the bar so it all worked out well. The brunch includes a list of several different dishes that you can order sort of like an endless sampler platter. A drink is also included in the brunch. And they have several cocktail options if you so desire. And for my brunch, I had the oysters Rockefeller 2x bc I really liked them. You get 2-3 small oysters. The salmon Benny was fantastic with a nice size piece of salmon. I also got the fruit parfait because I wanted to finish with something a little lighter. My husband did not want the brunch, so he ordered the duck off of the regular menu. It was quite tasty, but its presentation on the plate was really very nice. To find a find dining experience place in such a small town was a pleasant surprise. I had the Colorado Huckleberry Pork chop, and oh my goodness. The whole plate was full of flavor that blended very well together. The pork chop was done to perfection, tender and juicy. The whole menu looked great. Wish I could try it all. The sweetness of the Tamale was a great pairing. A bottle of 19 Crimes Pinot Noir tied it all together.
