Stopped here today (June 4th, 2025) and the doors were locked. A passerby told us that the owner had surgery and the restaurant was TEMPORARILY closed. Staying the night in Goodland, we wanted to visit somewhere as we were pretty tired from a long drive. The spot looked pretty fun on Yelp! When we walked in, we were happy we did. Their supper starts at 5 PM. I guess that's due to baked potatoes in about five or six steak entrées. Our server was very good. Unfortunately, they could not make a Manhattan so I just ended up having Samuel Adams beer. My wife enjoyed Their iced tea. I decided on a Kansas City strip steak with baked potato and tossed salad while my wife decided on chicken nugget and fries dinner. Our meals came out relatively quickly. Must say my steak was well seasoned and delicious! A little confusion as we were trying to check out. I guess it's normal just to walk to the bar area and the waitress meet you there to pay your bill on the way out. All in all very nice home like setting! read more

They charge extra for fries with each meal, and they charge you 5 bucks for cheese tomato and onion on your burger. None of which is disclosed to you. We asked our server for ketchup waited for 10 minutes before someone got up and I had to go grab their bottle. Not to mention they do not give you an itemized receipt. This cute little place has something to see everywhere you look. It's super clean, too. The waitperson was friendly, helpful, and brought our order out promptly. The food was seasoned very well. I had a deluxe quesadilla with jalapeños, two cheeses, onion, and bacon (which I asked for on the side -- it was a generous amount). It was browned perfectly, not greasy at all, and I couldn't even finish it. That made me sad because it was so good. I became intrigued to see this place and try it out from the one star review that said it had very sextist praphanalia decor. So I wanted to see what that was. Turns out, a half a dozen kids tricycles, some snow sleds and even a miniature replica freight wagon along with a bison mount decorated these walls and ceilings. Sexist??? Myself and a friend were riding through Goodland, KS where we stayed for the night. The hotel recommended Crazy R's for dinner. We went and it was a little family restaurant with a bar. We ordered and waited for our food. While we waited we noticed some signage at the bar. The signed were very degrading to President Biden and V.P Harris. I think if Crazy R's focused on their slow service and giving seated customers packets of ketchup and salad dressing they would have a better rating. Any business that places their personal political preference in sight of paying customers must have some serious management issues about making sensible choices. read more

We came here today when we stopped in Kansas coming down from Nebraska. This place is a really cool bar, it's decorated really cool. Usually in bars decorated like these.. the decor is dirty and covered in cobwebs, not here. Every thing was perfectly clean. The waitress was really friendly, and seemed to know everyone who came in (even the usps worker) and was really kind. Both burgers were ok, "the farm" burger had a over cooked chicken patty that kinda killed the whole burger. Fries were decent in both baskets. If given a choice where to eat while traveling, I will always opt for a local, unique place to eat over a nation-wide chain of processed food. It's a good way to experience some of the local culture and more likely to get some FRESH ingredients in the food. When planning our day's drive across Kansas, I emailed a local business owner and asked where she would recommend stopping for lunch. She recommended the Crazy R Bar & Grill. As much as it drove my wife nuts to drive past the Wendy's and other fast-food, quick-n-easy places to eat and get back on the road, I'm glad we actually went into town and ate at the Crazy R. It was one of those places where the locals will walk in the door, see several people they know, wave and say hi, say hi to the waitress or owner by name, and have a seat. On the other hand, it's also the kind of place where people from out of town walk in the door and all of a sudden the place gets reeeeally quiet and everyone in the restaurant is staring at you wondering who you are and why you're in their restaurant. It was the type of place with the "menu" printed on a small card in a vertical plastic card holder and the food is served in red plastic baskets. There were things like "Chicken Gizzards" and "Rocky Mountain Oysters" on the menu. They advertised old fashioned "soda pops." I had me a real honest-to-goodness sarsparilla! I'd heard of it before and knew it was something similar to root beer, but I'd never actually seen it offered anywhere, so I had to try it. The decorations were all sorts of antique tricycles and children's riding contraptions mixed in with local historical memorabilia (farm stores sale signs, local sports jerseys and propoganda). My wife said there were people smoking at the bar. That surprised me because normally I smell that stuff a mile away and can't stand to be in the same room. I might have turned around and left if I had smelled the cigarette smoke when we walked in the door. Overall, the food was really good, and I enjoyed the cultural experience of stopping someplace "local." read more

It was just a terrible experience, the service was incredibly slow, the drinks were just plain nasty, and the food was ok at best. But, the appetizers were pretty good. As for the location, the dining area was pretty cool, but the bathroom was disgusting, not even a door on the stalls. And the reason I give it 1 star, not 2, was the shocking price., nearly $100 for 3 meals and an appetizer. Not much more to say, definitely would never go there again. read more

12 oz ribeye and a baked potato. Tasty. Not sure that it's worth $23.95.....but we were really hungry. My husband had the 16 oz. he didn't have as much fat on his steak. It had a nice char but too much garlic seasoning or something. I also understand what to expect with a ribeye but at least 1/3 was fat. Baked potato was pretty good. I'm 11 and I went to this restaurant with my dad my uncle and my 15 year old brother. And we ordered steaks and my uncles steak was over cooked. So he asked to get it redone. The waiter said that the chief said "the steak is medium rare" it definitely wasn't. So he went to the counter and said it deffenitly wasn't. And the chief came out and said "what's the fucking problem". My uncle said "the problem is that the steak is over cooked and I want it redone". The chief randomly said "fuck you". My uncle said it back and turned around and started leaving. But the chief started getting violent and through the steak at my uncle and blocked the door so he coldest get out saying "you have to pay" which is false imprisonment btw. So my uncle cuts around him to get out and started cussing us out calling us pieces of shit so we had to get out of there and once we did we called the cops. Can't even get a drink everyone around was served and got their drinks and food but we can't seem to get a lick of service.
