THE DINER HAS THE BEST STEAK AND EGGS IN THE GAME!!! The service is always IMMACULATE! The people truly want to make sure you have a good experience. Their milkshakes are amazing and they also give you the metal cup they make the milkshakes in, so you essentially have TWO milkshakes. My typical order when I'm not ballin out on some steak and eggs: Hashbrown square (more surface area for maximum crisppppp), onion rings (smaller, so they have the perfect onion to fried ratio), chicken sausage, and grits. You read that right this southern lady approves these grits!! Have I mentioned enough how great the service is??

The Diner in Adams Morgan is exactly what a neighborhood diner should be - consistently great food, served fast, by genuinely friendly people. The Diner is a humble local spot. The menu is smaller than your typical diner, but it hits all the highlights with some fun twist. With amazing prices and the kind of menu that covers all the classics. The ingredients are simple, but that's the beauty of it, fresh, satisfying, and reliably good every single time. You may wait a little for weekend brunch, but it's worthwhile. Service is quick without feeling rushed, and the staff makes you feel like a regular even if it's your first visit. Whether you're grabbing a casual breakfast, a late-night bite (open 24 hours), or just craving something comforting and familiar, this place delivers. In a city that's constantly chasing the next trend, The Diner stays true to what works--and does it really well. A true neighborhood gem.

Way to go, The Diner staff! Things went much better with the service, the staff person I'd had issues with before was much more attentive and helpful. And they really made an effort to make my milkshake the right way and special. (I mean, they're not cheap, esp the boozy ones - about the price of some entrees, so their should be some effort and no scrimping on filling up the glass or giving any leftovers from the blender ;-) Also, the dining area wasn't insanely loud with music the last 2-3 times I was here.

Must say I was extremely disappointed returning back here after quite some years ago when Adams Morgan used to be the place to be. After being seated for 10 minutes we had to wave down a server just to get water and order drinks. We then waited an additional 10-15 to put in food orders. I went to the bathroom and as I used the urinal, I looked up and saw black mold on the ceiling. The food took an additional 40 mins to come out to us. My food was actually cold when it came out, the garlic butter on my steak wasn't even melting. Unwrapped my silverware and it was dirty. The manager/owner on staff had a nasty attitude and was very dismissive. As excited as I was to return there, they lost their flair!

Overall this was a great breakfast spot. We sat outside and enjoyed some fresh air which was extra nice because service is slow. I mean that about everything coffee, water, your silverware m, getting a menu that they didn't seat you with, the check and of course your food all come slowly. Food is solid. It's very basic but sometimes basic done well is what you need. I will say the home fries made not home fries as I know them. These were just unseasoned chopped potato wedges which is not home fries. Pancakes were just basic buttermilk cakes but again basic done well is good. My husband had the rancheros and they were on a tostada which he didn't love but it tasted fine.

My coworkers and I ordered breakfast from here one day. I had the Ponderosa Stomp Omelette with grits and a cheddar-jalapeno biscuit. This place offered great value, as I got two meals out of what I ordered. The cheddar-jalapeno biscuit was an unexpected favorite. I had a little trouble with the online ordering system, but I called the restaurant, and they were able to fix the glitch.

My wife and I love diners and diner breakfasts are some of the best that you can get. We stopped here while in town for a conference in May and we really enjoyed our meal. Our omelets were very tasty and filling and they had very good breakfast potatoes, rye toast, and a side of fruit. Service was pretty good and it's a solid choice for breakfast. We'd definitely come back again the next time we're in town.

So, I didn't expect much when I walked in at 2:30 am, and the sign at the entrance read "Seat yourself." I was pleasantly surprised. My waitress (Candice) was PHENOMENAL!!! Personable, attentive, and has such a wonderfully pleasant disposition. After playing "musical chairs" for a minute (I was freezing), I settled on table "30" (I was solo). She took my order without issue. Make sure you're SPECIFIC with what you want on your burger. I was so focused on ensuring the temperature was understood, that I missed when she repeated my order back, that I didn't share which cheese I wanted. I must have mistakenly ordered a "burger," and not a "cheese burger." None the less, the temperature was perfect, and the food delicious. This will definitely be my "go to" after hours.

Took a seat on the patio on a Sunday morning. Was a great spot for the puppy to people watch and was a decent spot for breakfast. It was good, classic fare at decent prices with good service. I wouldn't say I'm dying to go back, but it hit all the right notes on the search for some good breakfast food. Had eggs Benedict which was decent in flavor and portion and my husband had the hash brown bowl. Both were good, but we weren't blown away. The corned beef hash was sorely missing some corned beef, but that was the only real low spot. Would be back if we're strolling in the neighborhood and want a brunchy bite, but probably wouldn't make it a destination.

Another DC favorite of ours nestled in the Adams Morgan neighborhood. We had not been in a while so this was on our must visit list for our quick trip to DC. I have to be honest we did have an issue with our order both of our orders came out wrong but to me things will happen but it is how the establishment handles it that makes for an amazing dining experience. The individual handling the kitchen orders was amazing. He promptly and quickly got our food remade and out to our table. The food was amazing, fresh, and hot. The bite of fresh toast was light and the best fresh toast I have had. We went for an early lunch and there was a good crowd but did not have to wait for a table which was nice and all in the timing as this place can get very crowded and very loud. Would recommend this for a casual dining experience in DC

Server came by, not so much as a greeting or introduction, just a short, "do you know what you want?" Fine - no problem. We ordered two avocado toasts and side of fries to share. Now, the menu clearly says the avocado toasts are served with a "runny egg". Ok sure, no problem. What i did not anticipate was a half raw egg with the yolk swimming in a sea of translucent completely uncooked "whites". It was like a golden disc encased in a snot rocket. Ok, maybe that's their "runny". Slide it off the toast and press on - snail trail of mucus be damned. The avocado spread was great - bright, citrusy, and well seasoned. The "hot sauce" was likely from a bottle and could have been left off. The radishes would have benefitted from being tossed in lemon, salt and pepper. The image of the "runny" egg was too much so I ate half the toast serving and meandered to the fries. Not bad, crispy , hot, and...wait...sweet...something is off, I can't put my finger on it but at least it's not a raw egg. I keep eating. My kids looks at me and says, "do these remind you of funnel cake?" THAT'S IT - FUNNEL CAKE. We have both had enough, ask for the check. The server comes by gives me the clunky machine, I tap and put it down, he reaches for it and I say, it's processing, I still have to sign...and then he starts snapping his fingers...WHAT IN THE ACTUAL €¥($ ARE WE DOING RIGHT NOW?!? The space is gorgeous; I love all the plants, and the light brown, light blue, and white color combination for their furniture makes the space look classy and modern. The light brown leather couches are comfortable, and I love the way they circle around the tables to create a natural, cozy booth. Our food was just as beautiful as the space. The Restaurant Week menu comes with an appetizer, main, and dessert. Given how indecisive I can be (and how expansive the normal menu is), I was grateful to have my choices narrowed down a bit. I started off my meal with the octopus. The octopus was remarkably tender and not overly chewy, and had a delightful char that gave it a slightly smoky flavor. They double downed on the smokiness with their burnt chili oil, which, alongside the lemon and salsa verde, gave the dish a wonderfully balanced smoky, savory, and slightly acidic flavor. The crushed potatoes had a lovely crispy shell on the outside and served as a great base for the tender octopus. The main course was probably the easiest choice of the evening -- I'm absolutely obsessed with branzino, so the second I saw it on the Restaurant Week menu, I knew that was what I had to get. The fish is beautifully broiled, with a nice, crispy skin and super tender, flaky flesh. It's topped with a few pieces of roasted garlic and a wedge of lemon. The fresh lemon juice, as well as the lovely side salad, offered a great pop of freshness to bring the whole dish together. And finally, for our dessert, I chose the chocolate torta. This wonderful dessert is remarkably rich and decadent, with a strong dark chocolate flavor. It's topped with a lovely marsala date sauce and scoop of sheep's yogurt ice cream, but still doesn't feel overly sweet. The sheep's yogurt in the ice cream offers a bit of tanginess, and I loved the addition of the candied walnuts for a bit of crunch.
