This is a locally owned shop in charming downtown Hingham. It is well worth a visit…read more In the spirit of "shopping local" this holiday season in particular, a friend and I stopped in recently. They sell an array of very reasonably priced goods: clothes, outerwear, purses, totes, jewelry, knick-knacks. I think it would be pretty easy to find something pretty and fun for people on the average holiday shopping list. There are plenty of gift ideas for stocking stuffers too as well as items that might be nice as hostess gifts. I bought two "evil eye" necklaces here...one for me and one as a gift. The woman running the store was a sweetheart, chatting with us and offering help. They do gift wrapping here which is a plus. I plan to return next week to see if they have any additional items that might help me tick off a couple of more things on my holiday shopping list. It is definitely worth a visit. And if you haven't visited downtown Hingham, I think it's always a treat to do so.

Vintage has a great, eclectic selection of clothes and accessories that have a pretty, feminine aesthetic. The jewelery selection is strong. They have a wide range of styles and it's easy to find unique pieces. The reason I docked a star is that its greatest strength is also its greatest weakness. The prices and styles can vary a lot from piece to piece and season to season. You might see very reasonably priced dresses hanging next to blouses that cost three times as much, and there are youthful styles mixed with really matronly pieces. This isn't objectively a bad thing, but it does mean that you can't always know what to expect (besides gorgeous jewelery). It's worth noting that when they have a sale, they _really_ have a sale. At the end of the season, there will sometimes be a discount on nearly every article of clothing in the store.

I went here back in 2010 as a bridesmaid in a wedding. We had dresses that were really low cut, and…read moredidn't allow for a bra. I am not well endowed in that area so this was difficult for me to feel feminine in that dress. He was able to recreate the top of the dress and made me feel fabulous. He is the owner and I believe works with one other person but does a lot of his own business. Dress took about a week and looked great. I got married in 2013 (june) and bought my dress at a shop in Syracuse NY. I ended up paying HUNDREDS of dollars on alterations for this dress at this shop because again, the bust was a HUGE issue. After three different times of me driving 6 hours each way to get this fixed not to my liking, I said in the back of my mind I should have gone to Michaels in the first place, I ended up taking my dress to him. Upon walking in, he remembered the wedding i Was in 3 years prior which was nice. I also didn't give him too much of a background of what I didn't like about my dress. I told him I have had it altered 3, times and I am not happy, and he knew my wedding was in 2 weeks (right around prom season). I knew he was squeezing me in, even though he never made me feel like this was impossible. As soon as I put the dress on, and came out of the dressing room, he knew EXACTLY what was wrong with the dress without me telling him. This made me immediately feel better. It was a little difficult, as the top of my dress had a bunch of lace on it, he had to rip it apart right in front of me, in order to make the bust line tighter, and he HAND SEW all the lace right back on. Swear, you would have had no idea this was done looking at the dress. He had the dress done in a few days. To top it off, doing this last minute, squeezing me in, and ripping apart a wedding dress to hand sew it back together, he charged me 50% less than 1 of the 3 previous alterations I had before. Honestly, I will never go anywhere else. He knows his stuff. He may not wear a suit, or have a very outgoing personality, but he is passionate, caring, and wildly skilled.

They had a Michael kors purse for $250 and it's not a newer edition either. I wouldn't call the prices fair. I would understand if items were brand new, but just because it has a name on the item, doesn't mean it should be sold for original price if it looks like they've been used.
