Cold grab-and-go sandwiches, hot made-to-order sandwiches, pasta salads, charcuterie, chips and dips, crackers, drinks... seriously so much to choose from. I went with a cold sandwich and it was way better than I expected. It tasted fresh, felt gourmet, and definitely wasn't your average deli sandwich. Everything looked really fresh too. The service was super friendly and efficient, even with people coming in and out, and the shop had a fun, bustling beach-town vibe that got us even more excited for the day. Three and half stars. A nice expensive little market that has a good selection of beers, wine and spirits near the downtown area. Not sure if its tourist season or not but I thought the prices were a little over what the rest of the marketplace retail prices go for. I was traveling to South Haven for a girls' weekend and contacted The Depot about putting together a charcuterie tray and snack tray so that we could stay in after a long day of travel. They were so responsive and accommodating, and they put together the perfect feast for us. Everything was fresh and delicious, and it made our first night in town perfect. I think it just lacked in the amount of bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado that it had in it -- but overall, the flavor was good and the bread was very good. We stopped in here for quick sandwiches while on a road trip! This cute spot was buzzing with people and I liked the train theme. This is mostly a liquor store with a small deli window in the back. The girl working it didn't have the best attitude and we noticed that the menu was different than the other photos posted on their Yelp page, which was fine. All of the sandwiches sounded really good and we liked the unique combinations of sauces and toppings. For example, there is a falafel and hummus sandwich in a pita, buffalo chicken tenders in a wrap, etc. I got the David Buoy steak sandwich that was topped with onions and peppers, in between French garlic bread. They were out of the gluten-free bread, which was a bummer. The sandwich was just okay and it seemed like the ingredients weren't the highest quality. My husband said the same about his sandwich. The woman running the cash register was super friendly and we enjoyed poking around the shop and buying some extra chips, drinks, and snacks for the road too. We recognized a few other Indiana brands that we love in the store such as Root & Revelry sodas and Hotel Tango spirits. That was awesome. Go local! If you're looking for a bomb vegetarian sandwich, this is not the place. My falafel construction was peculiar with the hummus being at the bottom of the pita, then the falafel, then the veg at the top. The sandwiches here are great! We called ahead and picked up some sandwiches on the way to Oval Beach. We ordered the David Bouy and The Clipper. Both sandwiches were delicious and nicely packed. They also have a stamp card if you plan to back. The downside is that there are no public restrooms if you're looking for one. read more

Very nice thing is you can buy 1 beer if you want, you don't have to commit to the 6/12 pack if you don't want! If you're staying in town and want to try local beers it would be awesome to make a fun sampler case. The food was good, but I felt the prices were high. $5.50 for kids chicken tenders, no sides (other than pickle) and no drink was included. We stopped here to grab a few pre-made sandwiches on our way to the beach, and I thought mine, an Edmund Fitzgerald, was underwhelming. While the beef was quite good, the sandwich was dry, could have used more horseradish sauce, and had slightly stale bread. Judging by the day of the week written on the back of the sandwich, which I didn't notice until later when opening it on the beach, I believe my sandwich was made the day before - which may explain why it was less than stellar. Buying a $11.50 sandwich at around 9:30 AM, I wouldn't expect to have to check for a date. That said, it probably would have been a lot less dry if the horseradish sauce had been in a separate container that could be spread on the bread right before eating. read more

Not as much a deli as it is a liquor store with a great selection of craft beers and some unique convenience store items. They did have pre made sandwiches and salads as well as four make to order sandwiches. After reading the reviews, we had different expectations. We purchased two pre made sandwiches and were disappointed as the quantity of the protein was a small portion. I wish we would have tried the made to order items, but as for the prepackaged items, Subway would be a better option. Yes! This place carries the food scene in South Haven. The sandwiches are creative and very fresh. We ordered a dozen for a boat day and everyone was raving about their meals. I had the Il Buco - spicy and it was everything you like in a sandwich. Interesting meats, tasty sauces and fresh veggies. They also come with a classic quarter dill pickle. As a lover of sandwiches, I was glad to stumble upon The Depot based on it's high Yelp Reviews. We tried 3 sandwiches, The Reuben, The Italian and the Wagyu Beef W/ Horseradish. (Yes they all have clever names in the Deli but this is easier to describe) My son had the Reuben and loved it, he offered me a bite and WOW.. It was fantastic. My first sandwich was the Wagyu Beef W/ Horseradish on the sub. Not very much meat for the price and definitely needed more horseradish. What detracted from this sandwich the most was the bread. The sub is low quality bread and the meat to bread ratio was too unproportionate. I ended up just opening up the sandwich and eating the meat with a fork, which was delicious. The Italian sandwich was great. Unlike the Sub bread, this was a toasted pressed bread and it had great flavor. I will be coming here for more lunches in the future. read more

It was my first time staying near South Haven and we were looking for somewhere with good food. I enjoy a good sub/sandwich and we found just that! We came two days in a row. The kitchen is only open from 10:30 AM until 3:00 PM so don't show up late. We had the David Buoy with hot peppers - don't forget the hot peppers, we had it with mild peppers the first time and regretted it. Second we had the California Clipper with hot peppers. Both were fantastic! Their home made tuna salad is also a hit if you're looking for something to snack on with pita chips. All in all, this place is a 10/10. When I called to place an order, I asked for a California clipper without mayo and the lady on the phone acted as if it would be a pain not including an ingredient. She also said to come pick the sandwich up in 20-25 minutes. I arrived 20 minutes after ordering and waited an additional 15-20 minutes before receiving the food.
