This is my first yelp review ever but had to after coming here. Came here twice. Both experiences have been absolutely terrible!!!!! First time it was busy and took forever to get our food but it was busy so we thought let's give them another shot. Second trip. My son is not a picky eater he is two and he doesn't like fried food. Only things on the menu for kids are fried. They have an adult tuna sand which so we requested one for a child seeing as they had a grilled cheese on the menu. This was apperentley an absurd and crazy request that could not be done. We decided to leave and find a better place to eat. Which really was not hard to do since McDonalds has better customer service. Do not waste your time if you want a nice dinner with your family. This is one place I would be greatly pleased to see go out of business. I will never recommend this place to anyone! read more

A friend invited a few of us and reserved 2 tables for 4pm - 7 of us came. We had a couple of drinks each - a mix of happy hour snacks and a meal. Service was average until the first 2 friends left and then an elderly lady came and began cleaning up one end of the tables as she made it quite clear she wanted us to leave (not spending enough?). She wanted us to know the tables were reserved until 7pm - it was 6:45...from that point on it was a series of questions and comments that totally shut down and good vibes going on and we couldn't pay the last tab quick enough to leave. You can get that kind of backhanded negative attitude in at least a dozen other places - no need to come back here for that! read more

Good views, comfy inside and out on the water. Noisy sometimes, quick service food isn't bad but 90% fried bar food, but not bad. Attention to detail and consistent. Tootsie Roll Pops are free ;-). Go !! read more

The food is awful. Eat before you come here. For some reason the owner will not ALLOW you to prefer a dosrita, which is a frozen margarita with a coronarita stuck in it upside down in it. Despite the fact that they have it advertised on two different posters on the side of the place. He will offer no explanation for this, but refuses to sell them. What a moron. read more

I gave this business a 1 star just because I flew into town and checked into my hotel. They were listed on the list for restaurants near by. i called their restaurant only to get a recording saying that they are open seven days a week and close at dark. So, I took the hotel shuttle to the restaurant and they dropped me off. I had to walk down to the water to get to the restaurant and there was a sign...."CLOSED"! I terrible way to do business. I then had to walk to a place down the road. I will behaving the hotel remove their name from the recommended restaurant list. I hope that everyone reads this before they have to go through what I did. Go to the Sextant Bar and Galley! Great food, drinks and excellent prices. read more

We had to push our reservation back twice as Tri Met got my 90 year old Mother to my house about an hour later than usual, but the "Deck" had the table I had requested and the service was excellent.Fish tacos were as good as the other five times we have eaten here, The Ahi burger was delicious with the Wasabi sauce,and the deep fried shrimp we also excellent.The bill came to less than $40.00 and we left very pleased, full and happy.Highly recommend this place.This is my first time posting a review,but I believe you would really like it. read more

I just ate at The Deck for the second time yesterday. The first time I was there (last summer), I wasn't that impressed, and this visit was just more of the same. The first problem was with our mixed drinks. My wife and I ordered mojitos which, as far as we could tell, had little to no rum in them. They tasted like club soda and mint, and despite drinking them quickly, they had no noticeable effect. If there was any rum in there, it could not have been more than 1/2 shot. My aunt had the same problem with a vodka cocktail she ordered. The other big problem was the service. Both times we ate there, the service was extremely slow. The servers are friendly, and that goes a long way, but not enough to make up for the slowness. The problems are likely the fault of the owners, who are either understaffing to save money or just don't know how to organize their crew. The food is okay, not bad but not great either. With their location on the water, they could keep people happy with a just-okay operation serving decent food and drinks with efficient service. The Deck's inability or unwillingness to meet such a low standard is baffling. If it weren't for their location (read: complete lack of competition) they would already have gone out of business. read more

My cousin had his windows smashed and his laptop stolen from his car in the marina parking lot. You can't see the parking lot from the restaurant below so it's perfect for thieves, and apparently this is a recurrent problem there. That said, food lousy, drinks good, view fabulous. read more

Nice wait staff. Prices have gone way up from a yr or so ago. But not outrageous.

The Deck used to be a great place to go for casual and affordable food. Not any longer. We ate there last night and were so disappointed in the quality and the prices of the food now. We will never go back. The Fish and Chips looked and tasted like Gorton's frozen fish from the grocery store. Over cooked and dry. The sauerkraut on the Reuben sandwich was not drained first so the liquid completely soaked the bottom piece of bread. Yuck! The veggie wrap was mostly lettuce with a few sprinkles of tomatoes and cheese. Its curious to us why they would raise their prices (again) when the food is so mediocre at best. read more

It was a fun place to go to! The restaurant is right on the river. Great views and it is nice to watch the boats. I ordered the clam strips with fries. The clams weren't particularly fresh. I didn't expect them to be. I am sure they were frozen. But for frozen clams they were pretty poor. Our waitress was busy but attentive. The lady next to me ordered a club sandwich and it was huge and looked really good. I am willing to give this place another try. read more

So not worth it. I am literally writing this review while I am waiting for the server to come back with my drink. The service is that bad. Apparently it is the new hooters. Girls in short shorts that can't do their job. I wouldn't care about the attire of the staff if the food was good or the service was good. This is the type of place you go to have a bloody mary and some fried food while watching the activity on the Columbia. It reminds me of similar places in Boston and Florida - it's a boaty place, and you can paddleboard from the dock nearby. The food is good enough - it's not gourmet, but with a view like that who needs gourmet? A great place for a warm summer evening! read more

while the atmosphere is really fun and being on the water is a treat b/c Portland doesn't have a lot of restaurants that are on the Columbia, the food we ordered was meh - mostly fried and deep fried....and the drinks ok. The service was great and very friendly and helpful but if you are really hungry and hankering for quality healthy food, I'd recommend someplace else. read more

My partner and I stepped onto The Deck the afternoon o 6/5/11 around 2 p.m. There was plenty of seating available to we were able to get a fantastic table along the rail with a great view of the Colombia River. With the sun the weather working out great we were excited to be eating at such a great location. As we sat there were table around us getting their food from previous orders and other groups coming in to eat as well; with their servers quickly attending to them by providing some water and menus. This is where we started to wonder about our server. We were enjoying the sun so I am sure more time had lapsed before the absence of our server was noticed. It was after 15 minutes of sitting and waiting for someone to swing by our table to let us know they would be with us. I was giving them quite a bit of leeway when I considered that possible everyone before us had just arrived and they were just playing catch-up. Two larger groups that had arrived after us and were receiving their food did we decide to leave. It was 25 minutes later since we had had seated ourselves, no greeting, no menus and no order placed. This was one of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant. read more

This place is a solid 3 star restaurant. A friendly atmosphere, decent food with a pretty good selection of both yummy greasy bites and healthy salad options. It's literally on the water and they have plenty of outdoor seating for those beautiful summer days. They also have plenty of indoor seating if you want to admire the water from afar. I made reservations the weekend before ,thinking it would be crowded. We arrived and the parking lot was half empty Friday night and thinking the wind and rain storm spook them off. We were seated on the floating dock with no wind and water was com. We ordered two fish entrees and salad with salmon. The salad with worth the amount spent but the two fish dinners or not. Overall had good service but one thing for the faint of heart is that it is not really handicapped accessible they didn't even have handicap parking. read more

Ate here for the first time today. Our server, Shayne, was great! Attentive and friendly. I had a halibut taco (Happy Hour menu) which was very good. My grandson had nachos which were also tasty. A pretty nice view of the river. My first margarita came with salt as requested but the second came without. Not a biggie. I would definitely here again. read more

Atmosphere, Service, w/ great food and drinks! My wife and I went in on a very warm Friday night and they were slammed yet it didn't slow down the staff or effect their excellent smiles and attitudes. Came in with my small bridal party the day before my wedding, I had made reservations but added two people on. They accommodated my party expansion. Jessica was our server, she was hilarious, bubbly and down right awesome. She joked with us, made suggestions and was super efficient. A group of us had dinner here the other night. Seating is totally outside which was a surprise on a less than hot and windy evening. Menu was a lot of fried stuff along with burgers and sandwiches. The husband had halibut tacos but they had practically no halibut in them and were marginal. I had oysters but the waitress did not know their origin when I asked. Heavily fried with fries on the side. Way too much grease for the evening. read more

Went here in summer of 2013 for my husband's birthday with my in-laws. It's not a fancy place but the food and drinks were good. Service was decent, it was a weeknight so not very crowded. The VIEW was what got me. There was a sail boat race going on or something like that and it was the perfect setting for a nice birthday dinner. Definitely must try if you are in the area, if only for the experience of eating on a floating boat deck on a river and the view. read more

I moor my boat at the marina that The Deck is located at. I figured I would go in and get some food while I was working on my boat. I got the halibut fish and chips and also an order of the Caesar salmon salad. For how much the halibut fish and chip cost I would've expected hand dipped portions of fish, but I was disappointed to see that it was only premade frozen fish and the three little pieces were pretty skimpy and over cooked. The salmon salad was fair but for $15 I would've expected a lot better. And I went to the bar to order my food and was looking at the menu trying to decide what I was going to get and the bartender was incredibly impatient and started waving his arms at me to hurry and tell him what I wanted to order. You think the fact that I am still holding up the menu might mean I am still thinking and maybe he could ask if I need help deciding what crappy item to order. Pretty disappointed with my first visit here. Poor quality food at a premium price. read more

This is a one of a kind place located off of the Columbia River.... Hands down amazing food, amazing staff, breath taking atmosphere! It is a seasonal restraunt open from April- September. Happy Hour from 11 a.m.- 6 p.m 7... SEVEN days a week!!! Everyone is super friendly.... you can pull your boat, jetski, canoe, kayak, paddle board.... you name it right up to the dock. Hop off, go in for lunch, dinner, cocktails. Their signature cocktails are to die for and not only that, they are fun! There have been parties from 1-75+ and the staff handles it very well. Have witnessed some wedding proposals which was just beautiful with the sunset in the background. Definitely have to give it to the owners! They are there every single day that the place is open and they are 2 of the most wonderful people I've ever gotten the pleasure of meeting! Unfortunately, their close date for the season is September 24th, but I cannot wait to go back there next April when they reopen!!! If you haven't been, get there before the season is over!!! 11 days left!!!! read more

Great food, great prices and even better service! They were very busy when we went but they continued to treat every customer as if they weren't busy and to take our time enjoying our meal. We docked at the available dock side which was convenient! I do suggest putting a sign for new people to the location by way of water; we entered on the left hand side of the restaurant but no docks available for parking, you must enter on the right side. read more

The location of this restaurant is really cool. However it was extremely hot when my boyfriend and I went. We asked to be seated in the shade and the server did the exact opposite. She tried to seat is at a table that was reserved at 5pm and we had gotten there around 4. She then moved us and that table was reserved for 6pm and I again said something. She gave us a lot of attitude. I just didn't want to run into the reservation we didn't know how long we'd be there for. The drinks were fine but the food was terrible. we both got the salmon tacos and the dressing on the slaw on the tacos tasted like straight mayonnaise. It was awful.it came with chips which were just the nacho chips that you would get at a sporting event. Our server was nice but a bit on the slow side. It was neat to be on the water and to watch the boaters but that was about the only redeeming quality. read more
