My favorite coffee spot in SB - simply because of the service, and the girls working there were always super sweet and welcoming every time I came in. Also, helped that I worked next door at the Ryu clinic, BUT the smoothies, sandwiches, bagels, legit everything was good every time I went and got something for lunch or breakfast. Have recommended this to anyone who comes to visit Santa Barbara and always hears such good things about them to those I recommend! Small little shop and always very clean! Came in here for a much-needed Monday morning pick me up. My wife's new clinic a few blocks down as a parking attendant who recommended me to these guys for a good cup of espresso. I am quite disappointed. My wife and I come here every time we're in town because it's the only consistent coffee shop around (she's been coming here since she was in high school). This morning we stopped by around 9:10 and ordered 2 coffees, one hot and one iced. The young lady at the register was nice, and the two baristas seemed friendly. We kept seeing people come in after us and walk out with their drinks and I thought maybe they're just behind on their drinks. We ended up having to ask for our drinks at around 9:30, which were sitting in the back behind the counter because "they thought they were Mobile orders". My wife's iced latte seemed fine, but my hot latte looks nothing like a latte and tastes nothing like the lavender syrup. It tastes like a normal drip coffee with a splash of cold oat milk and a bunch of sugar. Disappointed in my drink, and the service since the whole time we were there the two male baristas were chatting it up with the female cashier and when one of them left for what I assume was his lunch the other barista and the cashier kept talking to each other, unbothered about why my wife, my toddler, my newborn and I had been sitting there for 20 minutes waiting for our drink. read more

The Daily Grind is my go to spot for great tasting coffee and a bagel. My preference for coffee is the Industrial Blend, and it is perfect every time! They also have espresso drinks, tea, fresh juice and smoothies. Prices here have increased over time, as everything else has in this world. That's why I don't come here as often as I used to, but it's still one of my favorite places in town when I want to treat myself. The burritos are also delicious, and a generous size. I usually get the Spinach, which is filled with eggs, spinach, feta cheese, potato and served with salsa. The bacon burrito is also delicious! You can choose sausage or ham as well if that's your preference. The atmosphere is casual, and they have indoor/outdoor seating available. Customer service has always been friendly to me. Yummy pastries are also available, such as scones, muffins, desserts, cookies, and croissants. My review for Daily Grind was long overdue, but as they say better late than never. read more

Went to SB on vacation, every coffee shop looked super trendy and aesthetic, which made a coffee price pretty high. Then I found Daily Grind which was more of a true coffee shop. It's small but has tons of parking but, is really nice inside and has a nice patio.I did an online order cause it was a big order three coffees and three breakfast burritos. We've gotten the SAUSAGE and CHORIZO BURRITOS, which were delicious and huge too. The salsa on the side was so good. My friends got the MATCHA ORGANIC & CHIA MEDIUM and I gotten the MOCHA WHITE DOUBLE which were all great. Then inside they have a glass shelf of dessets, so had to grab a slice of carrot cake, was bombacious! Also tried the Mexican coffee, which was my favorite drink! (Small lil problem that, I showed them but they offered a free drink for letting them know, denied it but came back the next day to pay for it to try it) But on there website menu they have a Mexican Coffee but there online order menu doesn't have it, if you do wanna try Mexican coffee when ordering online call ahead of time to let them know. read more

The Daily Grind has been in business in Santa Barbara since 1995. And though i have been coming to SB for a long time, today is the first time i checked this business out. At about 10am-ish this place was jumpin'! I let out a chuckle because this unit used to house a Taco Bell which is obvious in the style of the building: small up front outside seating area and rounded "Spanish" arches: a style that thousands of TB's made famous throughout the USA. Be that as it may many interesting food things is going on inside this Daily Grind. The huge menu boasts everything from Fruit Smoothies to Breakfast Burritos and Sammies as well as first rate Bakery items that i doubt were produced in house though whose presence in the cases belie a buyer with a strong sense of what is good and what is quality. As is my custom, i order cuppa joe ("Industrial" strength which i had hoped it would be) first before i delve into the specialty coffee drinks. i was a bit disappointed in the way it was brewed: meaning the coffee grounds to water ratios. In this case not enough coffee to give the brew a deeply robust flavor. What i tasted in a large size was slightly weak in flavor though i could discern what it might have been based on the what i tasted. The Muffins we ate are excellent and BIG: way big enough for two: Pecan, Blueberry Banana and Zucchini Carrot. All of the Muffins boast a fluffy texture, plenty of flavor and are baked to moist and not beyond. Good Stuff. I will be back to the Daily Grind here and the one on Mission. I have barely touched the surface of the big menu but plan to do so in the near future, Cheers. read more

The Daily Grind has the worst coffee I've ever had in SB. The worst. And it's $3.30! I came only because my car engine light on and I wanted coffee before I dealt with it. Currently at Bowman's. I never come here tho it's right through my alley. The last time I came my garage was stuck and I couldn't get my car out. I walked to Handlebar but they were closed. For a week!? I asked the lovely barista which caffeinated non-flavored coffee she liked best. "Mexico" she said without hesitating. It's HORRID. McDonalds's is ten times better. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is that I like the spinach salad. The food is actually good. The baked goods I wouldn't touch. Gigantic muffins are their thing and in 2022, who eats muffins? 1000 calories and 150 g carbs I would guess. I remember when it was a Taco Bell and frankly the tacos were better relative to tacos than this coffee is relative to coffee. The vanilla ice blended is good but Vices and Spices is better. Again, I don't like to disparage a beloved local institution but I also feel a duty to tell people just how disgusting this coffee is. The type you drink only because after paying $3.30 you feel bad pouring it down the drain (and also you need caffeine). It's clearly not the fault of baristas. It's the beans. I placed an online order at 1:50 pm on a Friday for lunch the website processed my order and charged my card. I then received a phone call that the kicthen was closed and they could not make my lunch. I said "ok thanks please refund my card." the woman said "sorry we cant do that we can make you the food tomorrow". I replied " I don't work Saturdays please refund my card" She said "we cant do that you can come in tomorrow for a refund". I'll start by saying I love supporting Daily Grind! However this location on De La Vina needs to be retrained or something... the drip coffee here is horribly acidic. I can't even drink it without diluting it with water. We have bought the large coffee carriers for our office as well and same thing, SUPER acidic. This is a case where less is more with the coffee grounds...or just do the correct ratios in the first place, no need for a heavy hand with the grounds because the coffee is good tasting! I think the staff also might need a raise because they do not look happy my teller was super short with me and bypassed the rewards system so I didn't get to type my phone number in :( I didn't want to be a pain so I didn't ask her to go back, but idk she could have taken an extra second to interact with me. It was very much "have as little to do with me as possible". The energy at the daily grind on Mission is sooo much better and they work twice as hard! Idk if it's different management but the daily grind on de la vina needs an extra spark. Probably would have ranked lower but I don't want to be mean! I swear I am here every Sunday morning. The lattes are fresh and the muffins are fluffy. You can't really go wrong from there. Try the zucchini carrot muffin. Trust me. I am obsessed. Daily Grind has the absolute best breakfast burritos that SB has to offer, in my humble opinion, but remember that they stop making them after breakfast is done (I think it's at 11 but don't quote me on that. I just remember being really sad because it was 1 pm and I strolled in asking for one and was told no). The overall atmosphere is so relaxing. The vibes are very grungy but with a bit of de la vina charm. Oh, and if you happen to accidentally drive past this, no need to fret, there's another one just down the street!! Parking is beautiful, but it'll take a while to pull out of the lot. Or maybe that's just me. I love daily grind. They have the best breakfast burritos with an amazing spicy salsa. The mini muffins at the de la vina & mission location strategically placed right by the register get me every time as an impulse splurge. Great selection of coffee and pastries. I also like that I can grab a wrap in the morning to take with me to work and have for lunch later that day. The line can get long but they are efficient and get through it quickly. It must mean that distant cousin of yours you never want to see because it's definitely not the first in my books. It was a hot sandwich with grilled roast beef, bell pepper, onion, melted provolone and chipotle on french roll. The bell pepers and onions were nice and carmelized but... eating the whole thing just was tasteless save for a bit of bad chipotle spicyness leaking through.
