Slow Slow Slow that sums it up at the Daily bagel. I was next in line and 5 people behind the counter. I waited over 10 mins watching the staff walk buy me. Seems like that they all were helping the 2 other people that are before me with there orders. I walk out try to come back later. On the days I get to give my order I have to give my order like 2 or 3 times. and sometimes it is still incorrect. If the staff would learn how to multitask and pick up the pase and speed it up, wouldnt hurt to smile even when they are busy. They would have happy customers less complaints and more productivity and they will make more money. Instead of serving 1 person per 5 mins they can serve 2-3 people in 5 mins. read more

Apathetic staff. They start walking away in the middle of my order. Some have a bad attitude. Their order taking process needs work too. They are the only coffee shop in the Cummings Center so it seems like they could care less, they are still going to get the business... which they do. The line is unbearable sometimes. This restaurant serves bagels, muffin, coffee, smoothies, salads, & wraps. I had a piece of their butter rum muffin, and it was delicious. For lunch, I had a thai salad with chicken (cold noodles, veggies, peanut sauce, warm chicken) and it was filling and good. However, I was not happy when the sticker on the salad said $4, but I paid $7 at the counter. Staff was friendly. Not a bad choice if you work in the Cummings Center, just watch the register! read more

If you like standing at a counter and being ignored by staff who purposefully don't look up from their stations because they can't be bothered, then this is the place you'll want to visit for your coffee, baked goods, and sandwiches. In fact, the express line for coffee is slower than the general purpose line because none of the staff care to venture to that end of the counter. You can make as big a scene as you like, it just won't matter. This is easily the most disorganized short order/quick serve operation we've ever witnessed. Watching the staff work a lunch shift is like watching that clip of the Hindenburg. The Daily Bagel is lucky to be located in the Cummings Center where their customer-base represents a virtually captive audience. They'd never be able to survive in the real world. read more

This is where I got my morning coffee everyday which was a short walk inside the building. Cummings Property ended up building a Finagel Bagel in the next door building which was nice as well. I was torn to stick with the same Daily Bagel. Good coffee, soup, and sandwich. Our catering service later was shutdown since our company couldn't find reason with Daily Bagel and Finagel Bagel next door. Plus, you get a piece of pita or bread with your soup. read more

The staff is generally apathetic and are quite skilled at ignoring customers standing at the counter... even if there are four of them back there, doing little more than chatting and cleaning. One out of every three orders I get is wrong and the last time it was wrong, the staff argued with me when I asked for a refund (the food tasted so foul I did not want another one). This surprised me because one can go to McDonalds, have them put ketchup on the burger instead of mustard, and they'll take the sandwich back and replace it. I never got the refund but I won't be going back either. Unfortunately, they are the only place of this sort in the Cummings Center. I hope we get some other 'cafe' type place in here very soon. They'd only have to be reasonable priced or more customer oriented to thrive. read more

Damn yelp doesn't allow for a half or quarter stars. This place is awful. Service minded people stay far far away--this place is a service tornado--nobody cares about you or what they are doing it seems. This would be a great candidate for one of those improvement shows as everything seems to be wrong. Food is just passable, service sucks, not very clean and yet they have a steady stream of people because of their good location. What a shame read more

Well I work in the building, so I frequent "THE BAGEL" I will agree that service is not always stellar-but coffee is good (pumpkin spice, yummm)and cheap...one of the few things that is reasonably priced...some items are just too expensive because they know people go there for the convenience of it being in the Cummings Ctr. I like the Veg. options-veggie burgers, lots of salads, etc and you have to admit, their menu has a TON of options. Food is fresh but the staff always seems in a tizzy and overwhlemed.... SO basically, good menu, ok food for b-fast &lunch and you can't beat not having to leave the building (if you work here) on a snowy/rainy day to get a decent lunch! If you dont work here or NEED to be in the building, I wouldnt go out of my way to eat here, but hey, it does the trcik of being cafe style food-and a very cute atmosphere! read more

Glad I'm finally getting a chance to post this. The only reason I was going there in the first place was because my job was directly upstairs. The food was never more than OK, and too expensive. Service was SLOW (not that I was in a hurry, just saying). Once I paid for a bagel in the morning with a $20 bill. I went back at lunch and ordered a sandwich, absent-mindedly I paid for the sandwich with another $20 (plus the correct change) instead of using my smaller bills that I got in the morning transaction. The woman working the counter, who was always walking the line between sassy and rude, scoffed at me, rolled her eyes, and yanked the bill from my hand. I will NEVER go to this place again. If you're going to treat me like a child, you'd better at least serve a halfway decent sandwich in less than 10 minutes. read more

AVOID THIS HELL AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!! Honestly...the soup nazi provided friendlier and more courteous service than this place. It's bloody awful. Food is palatable but nothing special. Price isn't worth it. A bowl of soup, a skimpy sandwich (or drippy wrap) plus a drink will EASILY set you back $15. Try the BLT...it has TWO slices of bacon! Staff. OMG I don't even know where to begin. Rude is quite the understatement. You DARE have the audacity to walk up to that counter and ask to order something you will get a reaction of complete and utter annoyance. You' think you had just run over their family dog on the way in. There will be 6 people behind the counter all playing the game of "don't make eye contact with the customer and you wont have to wait on them". They are pro's at this, all of them. But someone will eventually crack and accidentally look at you and the game is over, they have to wait on you. They WILL take 15-20 minutes to make a tuna sandwich. Calling in ahead makes no difference. In fact its probably worse as if you try to go to the front of the line of people waiting for their food when yours is on the counter already, you will NOT be greeted pleasantly and will most likely be ignored. (Usually the crabby old lady with the glasses with a penchant for rolling her eyes and sighing. Could be a nervous tick. How am I to know). I have ordered chicken noodle soup only to get back to my office and find tomato-rice soup in the bag and had to go back. I have had them COMPLETELY forget my sandwich order while watching the 30 people who were behind me leave with their lunch. I have dared to ask where my food is and was afraid Id get punched.Old lady behind the counter: "HEY DOES ANYONE HAVE THIS ORDER? HEY! ANYONE?!" NOONE answers her. Ever. I have gone in at 10:00 AM to be told they were OUT of bagels. Yeah. The Daily Bagel. OUT OF BAGELS. But I think the piece de resistance was this. I called in an order for soup and a sandwich. I went to pick up my order. Go in front of line, state my name, old lady determines which order is mine and takes my money. THEN. She picks up the bag with the soup in it. I SWEAR TO GOD one of those idiots behind the counter had put the soup in UPSIDE DOWN and soup went EVERYWHERE! She yelled in front of all the customer and the SIX people behind the counter asking who put together the order. Not one person bothered to say a word. Not even a "not me" from anyone. One of those morons was the OWNER!!!!!!!!!! I never went back. Not even for coffee. That was 4 months ago. I work next door and instead of going to "The Daily Ripoff" as it is well known, I hop in the car and head to either Atomic Cafe (free wi-fi) or Wrapture. Both are on Cabot St. Both have better food and great service and both have better prices. I also just recently heard they are jacking up their coffee prices. That's a really smart move to make considering they just opened up a brand new Starbucks drive-thru directly across the street. Seriously. I can't find the words to express my disgust for this place. Wow. I love lots of things about my office in the XCummings Center, and when i first started I thought the Daily Bagel would be one of them. It, in fact, turned out quite the opposite. Besides the fact that a trip to the Bagel will result in waiting for no particular reason, being charged a different price and having your order come out completley wrong, their is one thing that makes the Bagel truley ridiculous. The cream cheese. Yes, I said it the cream cheese. Do not ever order a bagel with cream cheese on it unless you would like 12-16 oz. of the stuff. They for some reason do not understand the concept of"lite" cream cheese, it generally looks like a tuna fish sandwich- Yuck. The coffee is always burnt, the staff is indifferent and the lady at the register doesn't have a clue. Everytime I venture down there, I make a pledge to not come back, howeversometimes you have to suxk it up and take whats available! read more

Pros: It is super-convenient if and only if you work in the Cummings Center. Cons: Atrocious service. Today was officially the last day I will give any more of my money to the Daily Rip-Off. I have a bad experience almost every time I go there. They are completely disorganized, rude, inconsistent, and there is no "system" in place whatsoever there. It's become a running joke amongst my co-workers to see how bad things will be. There seems to be no way to get good service there. I've tried calling in my lunch orders 20 minutes ahead of time, yet I've still had to wait in the long line because they have no system in place to separate the people waiting for food from the people simply waiting to pay. I've tried going at slower times to get better service--6 employees have been behind the counter and I have been the only customer, yet half the employees continued chatting amongst themselves while the other half of the employees looked the other way to avoid eye contact so that they didn't have to help me. When I do get service, they are incredibly rude: I ordered a muffin this morning, which started out fine. But when I asked if it could be toasted, I heard a loud sigh, the employee rolled her eyes and gave me a dirty look, and then when I got back to my office to eat the muffin, it wasn't even toasted. There have been numerous times that I've gone up to the register to pay, I've been asked what I ordered, and then the cashier just turned around and disappeared into the back room for minutes at a time with no explanation of what happened. One time after I was left standing there for a couple of minutes, another employee took pity on me and offered to ring up my order--at that point, the original cashier stuck her head out of the back room, yelled at the other employee not to ring up my order, and then disappeared again. I stood there while other customers paid, but nobody could explain what happened to the cashier who started my order or why I was not able to pay and leave. Bear in mind that I already had my food in hand, so its not like the cashier was out back making my lunch or anything. I could go on with several more examples, but you get the point. Every time I leave this place, I remark that the only way they stay in business is because they have a captive audience here in the Cummings Center. Every time I leave, I remark how its painful to give them any of my money because it sends them a message that they're doing a good job. I've continued to patronize this place solely due to its convenience, but today was the last day. There must be at least a dozen similar restaurants nearby who would appreciate my business. They may require me to spend an extra 4 minutes walking or driving to get to them, but at least I won't feel bad about myself for having spent my money there. read more

i've been coming here for 4 years now and i think this is one of the best places in beverly to eat, drink coffee, meet a client and hook up to the web. good food, clean, pleasant atmosphere, and friendly staff. prices are reasonable too. can't ask for anything more! read more
